DIRECTOR’S NOTES

In the middle of a drug war that has taken the lives of more than 150,000 and

ravaged a nation, we seek to ask questions about involvement and

responsibility while telling a compelling and entertaining story.

Director/Writer - Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer

Gareth grew up in Mexico, in a house with his mother and sisters, where he

trained daily in the art of creating, observing and managing conflict. He was

supposed to be a lawyer, but film got in the way. In 2011, he attended the

American Film Institute Conservatory with an emphasis in Directing. At AFI he

was given the 2012 Director's award grant, and his Thesis film VELADORA

received the Bridges/Larson Production award.

FILMMAKERS

Producer - Molo Alcocer

Molo Alcocer was born and raised in a quiet town in the middle of Mexico. He

studied a BA in Communication Sciences at the TEC de Monterrey. As soon as he

graduated he started his own production company in Mexico where he produced

several national commercials and short Films. With his partners in Business he

was able to win a Doritos Contest by making a commercial that was aired in the

inaugural match of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. After two years of running his

production company he was admitted into the prestigious American Film

Institute Conservatory (AFI) where he received AFI Scholarship Awards and

Irwin & Sheila Allen Endowed Scholarship. At AFI, Molo produced & co-wrote

his thesis film REAVER. After Thesis, he produced a short film CONTRAPELO

with Pin-Chun Liu and together they started Ochenta y Cinco Films.

Producer - Pin-Chun Liu

After earning a degree in Sociology from the National Taiwan University, Pin-

Chun began working in productions and producing independent films in Taiwan

in 2008. Her first feature, an American-based independent film, THE TAIWAN

OYSTER, was premiered in the narrative competition at the 2012 SXSW Film

Festival and distributed in 2013 in selected theaters and all major digital

platforms. But Pin-Chun got her first real taste of the Hollywood life while

working as a translator and liaison on Ang Lee’s LIFE OF PI. In the summer of

2013, Pin-Chun completed both her first Los Angeles- based feature MAKING

THE RULES and her AFI thesis film WAY IN RYE, which received the Bridges

and Larson Production Grant. Graduating at AFI, she also earned Tom Yoda

Scholarship and the distinction of Finalist in the 2013 PGA Debra Hill

Fellowship Awards. She produced CONTRAPELO with Molo Alcocer.

  5

Writer- Liska Ostojic

Liska began her career as a producer of award-winning short films and as a

writer’s assistant on major Hollywood productions. While studying at the

American Film Institute, she was awarded the Marcus J. Pincus scholarship,

and both of her thesis scripts received the Bridges/Larson Humanitarian Grant.

Liska is currently developing several feature-length projects with writing

partner Justin Partridge. They are repped by Epicenter-LA.

Cinematographer - Carolina Costa

After training at the Guild Of British Camera Technicians, Carolina worked

professionally as a camera assistant for over fours years, and as a

cinematographer for two. One of her shorts won several awards in England and

a low budget feature was distributed in over ten countries. While a student in

London, Carolina was selected to shoot a project funded by the British Film

Council and mentored by Sue Gibson, BSC. Hailing from Brazil with a

background in journalism, receiving her BA in London, and arriving in LA to

earn her MFA in cinematographer at AFI, Carolina’s rich and diverse

background contributes greatly to her global perspective and acute narrative

eye.

Production Designer - Aashrita Kamath

Aashrita is a production designer based out of Los Angeles, CA. Prior to

attending the AFI Conservatory for Production Design, she designed an

independent short film, Seher Hone Tak (Till The Morning Comes). She also

worked as a set dresser and prop master on various films and commercials in

Mumbai, India. Aashrita loves creating immersive, believable worlds.

She was the recipient of the Tom Yoda Scholarship Award at AFI. Her thesis

films, INTERSTATE, which premiered at Los Angeles Latino Film Festival and

DUSTLAND will also be in festival circuit in 2014.

  6

Editor – Oliver Harwood

Originally from the small English town of Northampton (home to famed Comic

Book author and practicing Wizard Alan Moore), Oliver has always been

intrigued by the idea of cyclopean entities with powers beyond human

comprehension. Combined with his corybantic approach to editing stories of

this nature, ensures the tension will rarely let up. A graduate of Darby

University, Oliver has edited numerous short films, including the award

winning “Mae and Ash” prior to earning his MFA in editing at AFI Conservatory.
