Electric Parking Brake (EPB)

With just the flick of a switch, your car is in park mode, making clumsy handbrakes ancient history. When you’re ready to get back on the road, EPB automatically disengages as you press the accelerator pedal as long as the driver seatbelt is fastened.

Smart entry with push button start

Approach the car with key fob in pocket (or bag) and just like magic, the front door or boot will automatically release. Then take your place behind the wheel, push start, and you’re on your way (VTi-S and above).

Conduct the interior climate from the front seat using the button-free electrostatic climate control panel. Simply swipe up or down or tap to pinpoint your perfect cruising temperature.

When you’re breaking new ground, it’s handy to be able to see where you’re going. The HR-V provides a multi-angle reversing camera – normal view, wide view and top-down view – which all display conveniently on the screen in front of you. But the most ingenious camera angle of all is LaneWatch. Designed to minimise one of the most notorious blind spots for any vehicle, LaneWatch comes standard on the VTi-S and above. Mounted beneath your left-hand door mirror, the blind spot camera appears on screen from the first moment you signal left. When it comes to safety, HR-V has you covered.

Retractable mirrors with integrated LED side indicators

The integrated LED turn indicators not only look good but also stand out to others on the road so you’re more likely to be seen when making that turn. And when the car is parked, the side mirrors can conveniently retract with the push of the button (VTi-L only).

One touch turn signal

With a gentle push of the turn indicator, HR-V indicates three times before automatically turning off. For continuous indication, just press until you feel it lock into place.

Brake Hold

Never again will you spend your time at the lights or stopped in traffic stepping on the brake pedal. Simply press the automatic Brake Hold button and the system will hold the HR-V in position without you having to step on the brake. The system automatically releases the brake as you press the accelerator pedal so long as the driver’s seatbelt is engaged.

A firm grasp on the road

Every contour of the HR-V has been maximised for strength, agility and performance. Reinforced steel and high-efficiency joint structures create incredible stability and rigidity at a much lower weight.

It’s just one of the reasons why the VTi is so efficient at 6.6L/100km*, with the VTi-S and VTi-L models close behind at 6.9L/100km*.

Moving the fuel tank forward and centre hasn’t just revolutionised the cargo space. It also gives the HR-V a lower centre of gravity, as if hugging the road. Cornering on the open road is a beautiful thing. Even in enclosed areas like parking lots or urban intersections, the HR-V manages a tiny 5.3m turning radius. There’s nothing that can get in the way of your adventure.

Eco Assist

Advanced technology is only part of good fuel economy. The other side of the equation lies with the person in the driver’s seat. Imagine a driving coach that helps you to drive more efficiently.

Eco Assist is a visual training system that responds to your drive. Brake or accelerate heavily and the outer ring of the HR-V speedometer glows white. Keep it smooth and under control and you’ll be rewarded with an encouraging green glow.

Small tends to mean agile. It often means economical. It always means fun. And those things are certainly true of the HR-V.

But what makes this car unique is the way it defies classification. From its 1.8 litre i-VTEC SOHC petrol engine, the HR-V generates up to 105kW of power and is capable of 172Nm of pulling power. Paddle shifters in the VTi-L model put that sportiness directly in your hands.

All the while, Honda’s state-of-the-art Earth Dreams CVT adjusts to the driving conditions and coaches the engine to operate at the most efficient rpm level. That means a smooth drive that’s easier on your passengers and your wallet.

Another exciting feature is Motion Adaptive Electric Power Steering (MAEPS), which works with Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) to automatically adjust steering pressure, making it easier to steer in the stabilising direction.

Feel as safe going backwards as you do going forwards with the amazing addition of the multi-angle reversing camera system. With normal view, top-down view and a special wide view, you’ll always be covered.

Whiplash mitigating front seats

In the event of a collision, the seatback springs are optimised so that the seat will more equally absorb the occupant’s impact. This has the potential to cleverly minimise the risk of a whiplash injury.

Be alerted long before it becomes an issue. The Deflation Warning System (DWS) keeps track of the pressure in all four tyres and reports to you if one is getting low.

Customisable speed alarm

It’s easy to get swept up in the adventure. So set the speed alarm at whichever top speed you choose and the HR-V will provide a visual and audible alert if that limit is ever exceeded.

HSA prevents ’rolling back’ when starting on an incline. The system controls brake pressure, keeping the car stationary as you release the brake pedal and prepare to accelerate.

Hill Start Assist (HSA) In adverse driving conditions, the HR-V is able to detect oversteer or understeer, and automatically adjust its path for stability and safety. It can also manage brake pressure and engine power to help you regain control.

Occasionally the situation requires sudden, heavy braking. For the driver behind you, this creates an emergency situation all of its own. So the HR-V automatically flashes its hazard lights to alert those to your rear.

When VSA is activated, Motion Adaptive Electric Power Steering (MAEPS) automatically adjusts steering pressure, making it easier to steer in the stabilising direction.

Airbags

The clever Honda i-SRS driver airbag system inflates at different rates depending on crash severity, seatbelt usage and a host of other factors to keep you safe behind the wheel. Dual front, side and full-length curtain airbags are standard.

Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD)

The HR-V comes armed with ABS for superior stopping power. When emergency braking is detected Brake Assist applies maximum braking pressure whilst EBD monitors and adjusts the brake force on each wheel.

Parking sensors

Slip in or out of tight spots with ease thanks to the HR-V’s front and rear parking sensors. These sound a helpful alert to let you know how much space exists between you and the nearest object. Standard on the VTi-L.

Pedestrian protection

It’s not just your safety Honda has considered. With smart design features that absorb energy or break away under pressure, a pedestrian has a greater chance of survival if struck.

Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE)

A brilliantly innovative body structure means that the impact from any possible frontal collision is directed away from the passenger compartment. So wherever you’re seated, you’ll feel that much safer in the HR-V.

Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS)Honda’s Advanced Driver Assist System is an optional package of incredibly clever safety features that could make all the difference if the worst was to happen.

Forward Collision Warning (FCW) By monitoring your speed and the closing distance of

the vehicle in front of you, Forward Collision Warning is able to alert you in advance to a possible collision when travelling above approximately 15km/h.

City-Brake Active System (CTBA)*

The reason we call them accidents is that we don’t expect them to happen. City-Brake Active System is Honda’s way of minimising the impact of an unavoidable collision at low-speed on city streets. The result is less damage to the car and better protection for everyone inside.

High-Beam Support System (HSS) Your car doesn’t just read the road – it can also read the

oncoming traffic. This allows the headlight beams to adjust automatically as the environment changes. So you can stop worrying about who’s coming the other way and concentrate on the drive in front of you.

A laser sensor mounted behind the rear-view mirror monitors if there is a vehicle in front of you.

If a potential collision is determined the system will alert the driver with audible and visual warnings. When a collision is deemed unavoidable, the system will automatically apply hard braking and reduce its speed.
