Q1 : A wet soil sample with total (wet) unit weight ( ɣtotal = 18.02 kN/m3 ), dry density
( ρdry = 1502 kg/m3 ), dry mass (ms = 135.15 gm), and air content (A% = 15 %). Find:
1- Specific gravity ( Gs ).
2- Volume of water ( Vw ).
3- Degree of saturation ( S% ).
4- Weight of water ( Ww ) in ( N ) needed to fully saturate the sample.

Q2 : A standard Proctor compaction test was carried out on a soil. The results of this test
are shown in the figure below ( Gs = 2.72 ).
1- Find the relative compaction ( R.C % ) of this soil if the field dry unit weight was
found to be ( 18 kN/m3 ).
2- Draw ( with calculations ) the saturation line ( Zero Air Void Line ).

Q3 : The results of sieve analysis and hydrometer tests of a soil are shown in table below.
1- Draw the grain size analysis curve of this soil.
2- Find the percentage of its contents (G%, S%, M%, and C%).
3- Classify the soil according to USCS. Given that ( L.L. = 56% and P.L. = 18% )
