Bible Readingエズラ /Ezra. 3:1-7,10-13

1 イスラエル人は自分たちの町々にいたが、第七の月が近づくと、民はいっせいにエルサレムに集まって来た。When the seventh month came and the Israelites had settled in their towns, the people assembled together as one in Jerusalem.

2 そこで、エホツァダクの子ヨシュアとその兄弟の祭司たち、またシェアルティエルの子ゼルバベルとその兄弟たちは、神の人モーセの律法に書かれているとおり、全焼のいけにえをささげるために、こぞってイスラエルの神の祭壇を築いた。Then Joshua son of Jozadak and his fellow priests and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and his associates began to build the altar of the God of Israel to sacrifice burnt offerings on it, in accordance with what is written in the Law of Moses the man of God.

3 彼らは回りの国々の民を恐れていたので、祭壇をもとの所に設けた。彼らはその上で主に全焼のいけにえ、すなわち、朝ごと夕ごとの全焼のいけにえをささげた。Despite their fear of the peoples around them, they built the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the LORD, both the morning and evening sacrifices.

4 彼らは、書かれているとおりに仮庵の祭りを祝い、毎日の分として定められた数にしたがって、日々の全焼のいけにえをささげた。Then in accordance with what is written, they celebrated the Festival of Tabernacles with the required number of burnt offerings prescribed for each day.

5 その後、常供の全焼のいけにえと、新月の祭りのいけにえと、主の例祭のすべての聖なるささげ物、それからめいめいが喜んで進んでささげるささげ物を主にささげた。 After that, they presented the regular burnt offerings, the New Moon sacrifices and the sacrifices for all the appointed sacred festivals of the LORD, as well as those brought as freewill offerings to the LORD.

6 彼らは第七の月の第一日から全焼のいけにえを主にささげ始めたが、主の神殿の礎はまだ据えられていなかった。On the first day of the seventh month they began to offer burnt offerings to the LORD, though the foundation of the LORD’s temple had not yet been laid.

7 彼らは石切り工や木工には金を与え、シドンとツロの人々には食べ物や飲み物や油を与えた。それはペルシヤの王クロスが与えた許可によって、レバノンから海路、ヤフォに杉材を運ぶためであった。Then they gave money to the masons and carpenters, and gave food and drink and olive oil to the people of Sidon and Tyre, so that they would bring cedar logs by sea from Lebanon to Joppa, as authorized by Cyrus king of Persia.

10 建築師たちが主の神殿の礎を据えたとき、イスラエルの王ダビデの規定によって主を賛美するために、祭服を着た祭司たちはラッパを持ち、アサフの子らのレビ人たちはシンバルを持って出て来た。When the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, the priests in their vestments and with trumpets, and the Levites (the sons of Asaph) with cymbals, took their places to praise the LORD, as prescribed by David king of Israel.

11 そして、彼らは主を賛美し、感謝しながら、互いに、「主はいつくしみ深い。その恵みはとこしえまでもイスラエルに」と歌い合った。こうして、主の宮の礎が据えられたので、民はみな、主を賛美して大声で喜び叫んだ。 With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the LORD: “He is good; his love toward Israel endures forever.” And all the people gave a great shout of praise to the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.

12 しかし、祭司、レビ人、一族のかしらたちのうち、最初の宮を見たことのある多くの老人たちは、彼らの目の前でこの宮の基が据えられたとき、大声をあげて泣いた。一方、ほかの多くの人々は喜びにあふれて声を張り上げた。But many of the older priests and Levites and family heads, who had seen the former temple, wept aloud when they saw the foundation of this temple being laid, while many others shouted for joy.

13 そのため、だれも喜びの叫び声と民の泣き声とを区別することができなかった。民が大声をあげて喜び叫んだので、その声は遠い所まで聞こえた。No one could distinguish the sound of the shouts of joy from the sound of weeping, because the people made so much noise. And the sound was heard far away.
