tion regarding the installation, limitation and maintenance etc. of the product. Please read this
manual carefully and understand thoroughly before attempting the installation and operation of PV

I. Purpose of this guide
ThisguidecontainsinformationregardingtheinstallationandsafehandlingoftheDENIMphotovol-
taicmodule(hereafter isreferredtoas“module”). Installersmustreadandunderstandtheguide
before installation. Any questions, please contact our sales department for further explanations.
Theinstallershouldconformtoallsafetyprecautionsintheguideandlocalcodeswheninstalling
amodule.Beforeinstallingasolarphotovoltaicsystem,installersshouldbecomefamiliarwiththe
mechanical and electrical requirement for such a system. Keep this guide in a safe place
for future reference (care and maintenance) and in case of sale or disposal of the modules.
GENERAL
• Installingsolarphotovoltaicsystemsmayrequirespecializedskillsandknowledge.Installation
shouldbeperformedonlybyqualifiedpersons.
• Eachmodulecomeswithapermanentlyattachedjunction.DENIMcanprovidecustomerswith
fittedcablesforeaseofinstallationifdesired.Installersshouldassumetheriskofallinjurythat
mightoccurduringinstallation,including,withoutlimitation,theriskofelectricshock.
• OneindividualmodulemaygenerateDCvoltagesgreaterthan30voltswhenexposedtodirect
sunlight.ContactwithaDCvoltageof30Vormoreispotentiallyhazardous.
• Photovoltaicsolarmoduleschangelightenergytodirect-currentelectricalenergy.Theyare
• designedforoutdooruse.Modulesmaybegroundmounted,mountedonrooftops,wall,vehicles
orboats.Properdesignofsupportstructuresisresponsibilityofthesystemdesignersand
• installers.Useofmountingholesissuggestedinafollowingparagraph.
• Donotattempttodisassemblethemodules,anddonotremoveanyattachednameplatesor
• componentsfromthemodules.Donotdisconnectunderload.
• Donotapplypaintoradhesivetomoduletopsurface.
• Donotusemirrorsorothermagnifierstoartificiallyconcentratesunlightonthemodules.Do
• notexposeCompositefilmbacksheetfoilsdirectlytosunlight.
• Takecarenottobumptheedgesorcornersofthemoduleagainstanyobstructionsafter
• unpacking.

SAFETY PRECAUTION FOR INSTALLING A SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM
• Solarmodulesproduceelectricalenergywhenlightshinesontheirfrontsurface.TheDCvol-
tagemayexceed30V.Ifmodulesareconnectedinseries,thetotalvoltageisequaltothesumof
theindividualmodulevoltages.Ifmodulesareconnectedinparallel,thetotalcurrentisequalto
thesumofindividualmodulecurrents.
• Whenseriesconnection,themaximumtotalnumberofseriesmodulesshouldn’texceedN.
Nisthenumberofseriesmodules.N=Maximumsystemvoltage/Voc,atstandardcondition,
AM1.5,temperature25°C.
• Alsowhenparallelconnection,themaximumtotalnumberofparallelmodulesshouldn’t
exceedN.Nisthenumberofparallelmodules.N=Maximumfusecurrent/Isc.atstandard
condition,AM1.5,temperature25°C.
• Keepchildrenwellawayfromthesystemwhiletransportingandinstallingmechanicaland
electricalcomponents.
• Completelycoverthemodulewithanopaquematerialduringinstallationtokeepelectricityfrom
beinggenerated.
• Donotwearmetallicrings,watchbands,ear,nose,lipringsorothermetallicdeviceswhile
installingortroubleshootingphotovoltaicsystems.
• Useonlyinsulatedtoolsthatareapprovedforworkingonelectricalinstallations.
• Abidewiththesafetyregulationsforallothercomponentsusedinthesystem,includingwiring
andcables,connectors,chargingregulators,inverters,storagebatteriesandrechargeable
batteries,etc.
• Useonlyequipment,connectors,wiringandsupportframessuitableforasolarelectricsystem.
• Alwaysusethesametypeofmodulewithinaparticularphotovoltaicsystem.
• heelectricalcharacteristicsarewithin±10percentoftheindicatedvaluesofIsc,Voc,andPmax
understandardtestconditions(irradianceof100mW/cm2,AM1.5spectrums,andacelltempe-
ratureof25°C(77°F))
• Undernormaloutdoorconditionsthemodulewillproducecurrentandvoltagesthatarediffe-
rentfromthoselistedinthedatesheet.Datasheetvaluesarevaluesexpectedatstandardtest
conditions.Accordingly,duringsystemdesign,valuesofshort-circuitcurrentandopen-circuit

voltageshouldbemultipliedbyafactorof1.25whendeterminingcomponentvoltageratings,
conductorratings,fuseratingsandsizeofcontrolsconnectedtothemodulesorsystemoutput.
• ThemodulearequalifiedforapplicationclassA:Hazardousvoltage(IEC61730:higherthan50V
DC;EN61730:higherthan120V),hazardouspowerapplication(higherthan240W)wheregeneral
contactaccessisanticipated(modulesqualifiedforsafetythroughENIEC61730-1and-2within
thisapplicationclassareconsideredtomeettherequirementsforSafetyClassII.
• FireResistanceratedClassisClassC.Firetestclasscoverstestedmaterials(especiallyEVA
andCompositefilmbacksheet)only.
2. Product Identification
Eachmodulehasthreelabelsprovidingthefollowinginformation:
• Nameplate:Describestheproducttype,ratedpower,ratedcurrent,ratedvoltage,opencircuit
voltage,shortcircuitcurrent,allaremeasuredunderSTC;weight,dimension,themaximum
systemvoltageandtheMaximumfuseratingareallshownonthenameplate.
• Barcode:Eachmodulehasauniqueserialnumber,seeFIG.1asbelow,theserialnumberhas
15digits.Thecapitalletter“D”istheshortnameforDENIM.Theseconddigitreferstothecell
manufacturer,capitallettersusedtorepresent,forexample,“A”.Andthe3rddigitreferstothe
modulesmanufactureraddress,capitallettersusedtorepresent,forexample,“C”.The4th
digitreferstothemodulesproductionmonth,capitallettersusedtorepresent.Forexample,
“A”refersto“January”,”L”refersto“December”.The5thdigitreferstothemodulesproduction
workshop,“1”referstothe“1workshop”.The6thand7thdigitsrefertothemodulesproduction
year,forexample,“12”referstotheyearof“2012”.The8thto13thsixdigitsrefertoserialnum-
berfrom“000001”to“999999”.The14threferstotheidentificationcodeforthetypeofcells,
capitallettersusedtorepresent,butforthetraditionalmodulesitcanbeomitted.Forexample,
“A”refersto“NewPattern”.Thelastdigitreferstobondedproducts,capitalletter“F”usedto
represent,butforthenon-bondedproductsitcanbeomitted.Therearethreebarcodesonone
module.Oneispermanentlyattachedtotheinteriorofthemodulevisiblewhenviewingfromthe
frontofthemodule.Thisbarcodeisinsertedatthelaying-upprocess.Oneisattachednearthe
nameplate.Andanotherisattachedonthepaperrun-card.

• Therearethreebarcodesononemodule.Oneispermanentlyattachedtotheinteriorofthemo-
dulevisiblewhenviewingfromthefrontofthemodule.Thisbarcodeisinsertedatthebeginning
oflaminating.Oneisattachedtothealuminumframe.Andanotherisattachedtothepaperrun-
card.Donotremovethelabel.Ifyouremovethelabel,theproductwarrantywillbenotguaran-
teedbyDENIM.
• Themoduleswouldbenamed:“DENIMSCG|P/M***##-**”.
3. Mechanical Installation
SELECTING THE LOCATION
• Inmostapplications,PVmodulesshouldbeinstalledinalocationwheretheywillreceivemaxi-
mumsunlightthroughouttheyear.IntheNorthernHemisphere,themodulesshouldtypicallyface
south,andintheSouthernHemisphere,themodulesshouldtypicallyfacenorth.Modulesfacing
30degreesawayfromtrueSouth(ornorth)willloseapproximately10to15percentoftheirpower
output.Ifthemodulefaces60degreesawayfromtrueSouth(orNorth),thepowerlosswillbe20
to30percent.
• Fordetailedinformationonthebestelevationtiltanglefortheinstallation,refertostandardsolar
photovoltaicinstallationguidesorareputablesolarinstallerorsystemsintegrator.
• Themoduleshouldnotbeshadedatanytimeoftheday.
• Accordingtothedesignofourinstallationmanual,Finalcustomerscouldadoptnotonlythes-
crew-installationmethodbutalsothepress-typeconnectionmethodtomaketheframesupporting.

• Putthemodulesontheframeandputonthescrewsandthencombinethemfirmlyafterput
onallthegaskets.Themoduleframeismadeofanodizedaluminum,andthereforecorrosion
canoccurifthemoduleissubjecttoasalt-waterenvironmentwithcontacttoarackofanother
typeofmetal.(ElectrolysisCorrosion)ifrequired.PVCorstainlesssteelwasherscanbeplaced
betweenthesolarmoduleframeandsupportstructuretopreventthiscorrosion.
• Modulesupportstructuresthataretobeusedtosupportmodulesshouldbewindratedand
approvedforusebytheappropriatelocalandcivilcodespriortoinstallation.Donotusemodule
nearequipmentorinlocationswhereflammablegasescanbegeneratedorcollected.
SELECTING THE PROPER SUPPORT FRAME
• Alwaysobservetheinstructionsandsafetyprecautionsincludedwiththesupportframestobe
usedwiththemodules.
• Donotattempttodrillholesintheglasssurfaceoradditionalmountingholesintheframe.To
dosowillvoidthewarranty.

• Moduleswhichwithframemustbesecurelyattachedtothemountingstructureusingfour
mountingholesfornormalinstallation.Ifadditionalwindorsnowloadsareanticipatedforthis
installation,additionalmountingholesarealsoused.Thedetailspleaseseetheabovedrawing.
Loadcalculationsarelefttothesystemdesignersorinstallers.
• Fornoframemoduleswhenusingclamp-mountingmethod,useatleastfourclampsoneach
module.Twoclampsshouldbeattachedoneachlongsideofthemodule.Dependingonlocal
windandsnowloads,additionalclampsmayberequiredtoensurethatmodulescanbearthe
maximumexpectedload.
• Thesupportmodulemountingstructuremustbemadeofdurable,corrosion-resistantand
UV-resistantmaterial.
GROUND MOUNT
• Selecttheheightofthemountingsystemtopreventthelowestedgeofthemodulefrombeing
coveredbysnowforalongtimeinwinterinareasthatexperienceheavysnowfalls.Inaddition,
assurethelowestportionofthemoduleisplacedhighenoughsothatitisnotshadedbyplants
ortreesordamagedbysandandstonedrivenbywind.
ROOF MOUNT
• Wheninstallingamoduleonarooforbuilding,ensurethatitissecurelyfastenedandcannot
fallasaresultofwindorsnowloads.
• Provideadequateventilationunderamoduleforcooling(10cmminimumairspacebetween
moduleandmountingsurface),afireresistantcoveringisnecessary.
• Wheninstallingmoduleonaroof,ensurethattheroofconstructionissuitable.Inaddition,any
roofpenetrationrequiredtomountthemodulemustbeproperlysealedtopreventleaks.
• Insomecases,aspecialsupportframemaybenecessary.

• Theroofinstallationofsolarmodulesmayaffectthefireproofingofthehouseconstruction.
• ThemodulesareratedfireClassC,andaresuitableformountingoveraclassAroof.Donot
installmodulesonarooforbuildingduringstrongwindsincaseofaccidents.
POLE MOUNT
• Wheninstallingamoduleonapole,chooseapoleandmodulemountingstructurethatwill
withstandanticipatedwindsforthearea.
GENERAL INSTALLATION
• Framemodulemountingmustusethepre-drilledmountingholesintheframe.
• Themostcommonmountingisachievedbymountingthemoduleusingthefoursymmetry
holesclosetotheinnersideonmoduleframes.
• Ifexcessivewindorsnowloadsareexpected,alleightmountingholesmustbeused.
• TheMechanicalload2400Paand5400PahavebeenpassedformoduletypeDENIMSCG|P295
WW-72with8mountingholesused.

• Donotliftthemodulebygraspingthemodule’sjunctionboxorelectricalleads.Donotstandor
steponmodule.Donotdropmoduleorallowobjectstofallonmodule.Donotsetthemodule
downonanyhardsurface.
• Fornoframemoduleswhenusingclamp-mountingmethod,useatleastfourclampsoneach
module.Twoclampsshouldbeattachedoneachlongsideofthemodule.Dependingonlocal
windandsnowloads,additionalclampsmayberequiredtoensurethatmodulescanbearthe
maximumexpectedload.
Clampsarrangement
(ThisAis1652mm,Bis330mm.ifthreeclampsforeachside,additionalclampinthemiddleofthepanel)
• Toavoidglassbreakage,donotplaceanyheavyobjectsonthemodule.Inappropriatetransport
andinstallationmaybreakmodule.
GROUNDING INSTALLATION
GroundingPVmodulesisnecessarytoreduceoreliminateshockandfirehazards.Theinstallerofa
PVsystemisresponsibleforgroundingeachmoduleframe.Itisrecommendedtogroundeachmo-
duleframeattheprovidedgroundingholes(6mmdiameter,markedwiththegroundingsymbol).
Thegroundingholescouldbefoundinthefigurebelow.Thegroundconnectionsbetweenmodules
mustbeapprovedbyaqualifiedelectrician.Themainearthgroundmustonlybeconnectedbya
qualifiedelectrician.

Allmoduleframesandmountingracksmustbeproperlygrounded.Thegroundingwiremustbe
properlyfastenedtothemoduleframetoassuregoodelectricalcontact.Usetherecommended
type,oranequivalent,connectorforthiswire.
Ifthesupportstructureismadeofmetal,thesurfaceofthestructuremustbeelectroplatedand
haveexcellentconductivity.
Propergroundingisachievedbyconnectingthemoduleframe(s)andstructuralmembersconti-
guouslyusingasuitablegroundingconductor.
Thegroundingconductormustthenmakeaconnectiontoearthgroundelectrode.Werecommend
thelay-inlugwhengrounding.Therackmustalsobegroundedunlessitismechanicallyconnected
bynutsandboltstothegroundedPVmodules.
Attachaseparateconductorasgroundingwiretooneofthe6mmdiametergroundingholesmar-
ked‘GR’onthemoduleframewithasetofM4orM5screw,cupwasher,flatwasher,toothwasher,
andM4orM5nut.Thisistoensurepositiveelectricalcontactwiththeframe.

4. Wiring and connection
• Beforethisprocedure,pleasereadtheoperationinstructionsofthePVcontrolsystemcarefully.
• MakewiringbyMulti-connectingcablesbetweenthePVmodulesinseriesorparallelconnec-
tion,whichisdeterminedbyuser’sconfigurationrequirementforsystempower,currentand
voltage.
• OpentheconnectionboxofthecontrolsystemandconnectthecabledfromthePVarraystothe
connectionboxinaccordancewiththeinstallationindicationofthePVcontrolsystems.
• Allmoduleframesandmountingracksmustbeproperlygroundedinaccordancewithlocaland
nationalelectricalcodes.
• Followtherequirementsofapplicablelocalandnationalelectricalcodes.
• Eachmodulehastwo4mm2diametertypestandard90°Csunlightresistantoutputcableseach
terminatedwithplug&playconnectors.Thiscableissuitableforapplicationswherewiringis
exposedtothedirectraysofthesun.Werecommendthatallwiringandelectricalconnections
complywiththeappropriatenationalelectricalcode.
• Forfieldconnections,usetheminimum4mm2diametercopperwireinsulatedforaminimum
of90°Candsunlightresistantaswell.
5. Maintenance and Care
• Abuiltupofdustordirtonthemodule(s)frontfacewillresultinadecreasedenergyoutput.
Cleanthepanel(s)preferablyonceperannumifpossible(dependantonsiteconditions)usinga
softclothdryordamp,asnecessary.
• Neveruseabrasivematerialunderanycircumstances.
• ExaminethePVmodule(s)forsignsofdeterioration.Checkallwiringforpossiblerodent
damage,weatheringandthatallconnectionsaretightandcorrosionfree.Checkelectrical
leakagetoground.
• Checkfixingscrewsandmountingbracketsandtight,adjustandtightenasnecessary.
