PRESENTING OUR CLIENT—YWCA MINNEAPOLIS ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION YWCA Minneapolis was founded in 1891 and is a member of YWCA USA, the oldest and largest multicultural organization in the world. The organization’s mission is to eliminate racism, empower women and girls and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. HISTORY The YWCA of Minneapolis has a long and proud history, pursuing its mission of eliminating racism and empowering women that continues today. In 1890, the State YWCA held a convention in Minneapolis where local women proclaimed the need for a meeting place, especially during the lunch hour. The following year, the first YWCA of Minneapolis was established on a second-story flat above South 8th Street. The organization moved in 1903, becoming the first Minneapolis building owned and operated entirely by women. In the early 1940s, the first African-American member was elected to the board of the YWCA of Minneapolis and the YWCA offered the first racially integrated pool in the Twin Cities. Growth and innovation continued throughout the decades. New facilities have been added. New programs have been designed—with a focus on exceptional child development and learning for women and girls. Racial justice programs further the concepts of equity and inclusion. Today, the YWCA of Minneapolis honors its legacy, embraces the present, and strides toward the future with its continued work empowering women and girls and eliminating racism.

Five high quality afterschool and summer programs use culturally responsive, research-based curriculum to meet the

needs of youth. A member organization of Girls, Incorporated, YWCA Minneapolis provides research-based programs supporting academic achievement, encouraging meaningful choices, and equipping girls to discover new skills, with secure, consistent evaluation of youth progress. YWCA Minneapolis is one of the largest providers of out-of-school-time programs in Minneapolis. Racial Justice YWCA Minneapolis is dedicated to promoting racial equity by partnering with individuals, organization, and businesses. Believing that eliminating racism is everyone’s responsibility, the Racial Justice Department offers racial justice training, outreach, advocacy, education through many vehicles including a diversity and inclusion consulting business.

This community continues to have enormous gaps and we do need to have disproportionate investment where there is disproportionate need.

PRESENTING THE TWIN CITIES OF MINNEAPOLIS AND ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA The Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul are a unique blend of small town and major cosmopolitan hub. Minneapolis is the larger and more commercial of the two cities, and Saint Paul, as the state capital, is home to state government and has a more historical vibe. According to GreaterMSP.com, the Twin Cities boasts the highest concentration of corporate headquarters in a major metro

area, a vibrant international community (126 languages and dialects are spoken in the region), and a broad range of cultural institutions, celebrating the diversity of the region. The population of the Greater MSP region (the 16-county Minneapolis-Saint Paul MSA) is well over 3.4 million and growing. Both cities share a common root of being river towns, and the outdoors is still a major attraction for residents and tourists alike to this day. In addition to the mighty Mississippi River, there are over 100 lakes (over 900 including the suburbs), over 250 parks, and miles of biking and walking trails. Nearly every weekend in the summer there are several outdoor events and festivals. MayDay Parade, Minneapolis Aquatennial, Festival of Nations, Cinco de Mayo, Twin Cities Pride Festival, St Paul Winter Carnival and Rondo Days are just a few of the many events that bring people out for food and fun.

The active lifestyle of Twin Cities’ residents doesn't lie dormant during the winter. There are miles of cross-country skiing trails, several downhill ski areas within an hour drive, ice skating, snowmobile riding, sledding, and ice fishing.

For those who prefer activity of the spectator variety, the Twin Cities are home to the major sports teams: Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Wild, Minnesota Timberwolves, Minnesota Lynx, Minnesota United FC (soccer), and Minnesota Swarm (lacrosse). There is also a minor league baseball team, the Saint Paul Saints. The Twin Cities have hosted the World Series, Super Bowl, NCAA Basketball Finals, the USGA U. S. Open, the PGA Championship, and the Special Olympics. In 2014, Target Field was the setting for baseball's All-Star Game, and, in 2018, the Super Bowl will be played in the newly built state-of-the-art USBank stadium.

But the Twin Cities have more to offer than participatory and spectator sporting events. There are countless arts and culture offerings here. The Grammy Award-winning Minnesota Orchestra has a reputation as one of the top orchestras in the world. Since the early 1960s, the Guthrie Theatre has staged shows from the classical to the contemporary. Penumbra Theatre is a respected theatre showcasing productions that illuminate the African American experience. The award-winning Children’s Theatre delights children of all ages. Popular national shows and performers also tour through the Twin Cities year round at stages in both Minneapolis and Saint Paul, and at the University. Minneapolis’ Fringe Festival is the largest non-juried performing arts festival in the country. There are over 30 theatre venues, 10 dance companies, and 30 classical music groups in the cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul alone. Arts organizations like Intermedia Arts, Forecast Public Art, Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association, and The Minneapolis American Indian Center showcase a range of artists and media.

For the museumgoer, there are over 60 museums in the Twin Cities. The Science Museum of Minnesota and the Minnesota Children's Museum (both in Saint Paul) are highly interactive learning and fun experiences for the entire family. The Minneapolis Institute of Arts has a collection of over 100,000 pieces. The Walker Art Center has been called "possibly the best contemporary art museum in the U. S." by Newsweek. The University of Minnesota's Weisman Art Museum is also a contemporary art destination.

Beyond the outdoor, sports, entertainment, and culture, perhaps the biggest attraction for the Twin Cities is the lifestyle. Forbes hailed Minneapolis and Saint Paul as the nation's healthiest cities. USA Today named Saint Paul as North America's "Most Romantic City." The Twin Cities offer award-winning restaurants, ethnic markets and artisan fare to delight the senses. Midtown Global Market and East Street are popular Minneapolis food destinations. In addition to the popular Mall of America, there are plenty of unique shopping districts in both cities and in the suburbs. COMPENSATION PACKAGE The executive compensation package for this CEO position is highly competitive and includes participation in the organization’s comprehensive benefits plan.
