In the wake of this situation arising out of the spread of Coronavirus(COVID-19), Community Institutions have responded to the COVID-19 situation with the following initiatives.1- Mass Awareness about preventive Measures2- CIs Charity3- BDGs- Relief Work4- Volunteer Services5- Distribution of Ration, Face Masks and Sanitizer Major contribution by CIs in COVID-19 ResponseCommunity Institutions they are performing their volunteer duties inUnion council level different relief activities..In this lockdown challenging time, Community institutions haveinitiated food charity-ration distribution drive on self community basisamong the affected households.Community institutions have prepared the face masks through atBDGs and distributed among the households

FUNDED BY GOVERNMENT OF SINDH

The Peoples’ Poverty Reduction Program is being implemented inclose collaboration with the Government of Sindh.Under this collaboration, the Three-tier social Mobilization (thebasic pillar) of formation of Community Institutions under thisprogram have found out different ways to mainstreamdevelopments that are being driven by community and working forcommunities under different self initiatives. There are different interventions ( Community Investment Fund(CIF), Income Generating Grant (IGG), Vocational TrainingProgram, Low Cost Houses and Enterprise Development (ED)that are playing a vital role in reducing the poverty andempowering the women as well as boosting their confidence tobecame an entrepreneur through Enterprise developmentintervention.encourg

About COVID-19, the Community Institutions hasdisseminated the awareness about Virus, theirprecautionary measures and how to slow downthe spread of Virus

Community Institutions assistance was

sought by District Administration at

ESHA'S Cash Payment Centers to keep

social distancing, following the SoPs of

payment and a transparent way of

payment can be processed at centers.

Because the payment process has been

started to support the deserving families

affected by strictly following the

precautionary measures. “CIs will ensure

Corona preventive measures through

Ehsaas Emergency Cash payments,

including handwashing, cleaning and

maintaining social distance".

District administration is taking sufficient

measures to ensure the safety and

security of the Ehsaas Emergency Cash

beneficiaries arriving to collect cash

assistance. In pertinent to this, they have

asked for the assistance of LSO

representatives.

In connection to this, CIs on self initiative

basis are providing the Face Masks, and

frequent Hand Washing with soaps and

sanitizer usage by keeping discipline and

CIs have also ensured sanitization at all

touchpoints serving payments.”

The CIs are serving the humanity on self-

resources basis to mitigate the impact of the

lockdown to curb the deadly covid-19 spread

which in turn makes the poor people lives with

no job work and livelihood. In this situation, to

protect the poor, the CIs have taken an

initiative of free distribution of ration bags.

Therefore, under the Peoples’ Poverty

Reduction Program, community Institutions on

self-initiative basis has started a Ration

distribution drive and has provided essential

items to 4,003 needy families. They are

driving this drive on different financial

resources

basis: Cos saving, Collection of Donation and

Getting assistance from different

philanthropists.

Moreover, CIs have also distributed sanitizers'

and masks to around hundreds of families in

their villages. “Most of these families rely on

daily wages and are lacking access to

essentials since the lockdown was announced.

These Vulnerable households' are looking for

the charity to feed their children two times

meals but realizing the situation, CIs are

assisting what ever they could do for the these

people and they are appealing to Government

and Non Government Organziation for helping

these households.

Under the banner of CommunityInstitutions’, Business developmentGroups are working for promoting therural women entrepreneurship forreduction of poverty.In this regard, the BDGs of districtKhairpur are actively working for reliefactivities for vulnerable andmarginalized community who has beenaffected due to COVID-19 lockdown tocurb the spread of the virus.

The BDGs at their level best are alsodoing charity work .In Khairpur thegrocery shop is distributing soaps,sanitizers, Tunnel farming off seasonvegetables, in Mirpurkhas, Pickle isdistributed among vulnerablehouseholds. most important they aredisseminating the information ofCorona Prevention tools throughRickshaw and visiting the villages.

In Khairpur, the service providerbusinesses i.e. Rickshaw or TirePuncture Shop, they are maintainingsocial distancing during serviceproviding the customers. mostlybusiness in Khairpur have started theonline business through phone andfree service delivery at homes bykeeping a boy for delivery. they arealso offering the discounted prices tothe customers.

In this pandemic situation, Community institutionsare responding timely and conducting differentbehavioral change sessions and communicationthrough different channel.CIs are ensuring that the current outbreak ofCOVID-2019 is responded timely and efficiently toprevent its further spread through their smallefforts at community level.During this week, CIs have sensitized 15,353community members' during the week to preventthemselves through advisory and precautionarymeasures on social distancing, use of face maskand hand hygiene because prevention is cure.

Social Mobilization is the key to send yourmessage to mass public. in this regards,Community Institutions' leaders areperforming tehri duties ta community level bydisplaying the banner of preventive measuresof CVOID-19, they are disseminating theinformation to the community. TheCommunity resource persons are also playingavital role in this activity for the community.

The Cis are mainly involved in

changing the behaviour of community

to do frequent times hand washing

because hand hygiene is extremely

important to prevent the spread of the

COVID19 virus. Although awareness

of the importance of hand hygiene in

preventing infection with the COVID-

19 virus is high, access to hand

hygiene wash your hands for twenty

seconds with soap. Hand hygiene is

the most effective single measure to

reduce the spread of infections.

Cis are conducting demo sessions and

distributing the soaps to continue this

practice at household level
