קייט רוזנברג, בת 26, גדלה במלבורן, אוסטרליה. בישראל שנים מספר בני תפקידים מילוי לאחר

Abby Kolker was born in Baltimore, Maryland, but is now a proud Tel Avivian. Since university, she has worked at NGOs and human rights think tanks in Tel Aviv and Buenos Aires. She is also the co-director of Camp PALS for teens with Down syndrome.

VENTURE: Abby is eager to get others involved in social justice and wants to start a community group for English-speaking activists in Tel Aviv-Jaffa.

Anat Horowitz Harel graduated from the Technion with a degree in architecture. She currently works as a regional devel-opment analyst with the Reut Institute. Previously, she worked on urban planning teams and wrote policy papers on related topics. Anat also has a rich background in informal education.

VENTURE: To expose Tel Aviv residents to city planning and architectural issues in day to day life. The project is inspired by similar efforts around the world. At the center of the project will be a city model, exhibitions and workshops for public and educational programs on architecture and planning.

Kate Rosenberg grew up in Melbourne, Australia. After a few long stints in Israel and time spent in Krakow, she made Aliyah in 2008 and now lives in Tel Aviv. Kate is working toward making Israel the democratic, pluralistic, and inspiring country she knows it can be.

VENTURE: “Tov Lada’at” will provide ho-listic support and community leadership training for African refugees and asylum seekers hoping to reach institutions of higher education in Israel.

Avi Parsha grew up in Ramle and Rehovot. After high school, he deferred his army service to participate in an Israeli Scouts service program as part of Young Judaea’s Year Course. He then served in the Nahal Brigade as a squad commander. After his military service, Avi traveled to the Far East where he worked with Nepali street children. Avi now lives in Tel Aviv where he works in telebanking at Mizrahi-Tefahot and studies economics and political science at Tel Aviv University.

Avner Gvaryahu is a second-year student in social work school in Tel Aviv. After high school, he deferred his army service to participate in an Israeli Scouts service pro-gram as part of Young Judaea’s Year Course. During his army service, Avner served in a paratrooper unit, where he attained the rank of staff sergeant. Afterwards he be-gan working with “Breaking the Silence”, an organization that examines the reality and complexity of service in the territories and promotes a moral discussion around this issue. Avner is also shift manager of “Na’lagaat,” a theater group for the deaf and blind in Jaffa.

Moran Broza was born in Israel and raised in the United States. Following a year at Rutgers University, she volunteered as a “lone soldier” in the Israeli Army where she served as a drill sergeant in basic training and an officer. She went on to travel the world, working and studying for over seven years and is now a trained chef and manager in the food and beverage industry. VENTURE: “Bringing Eden Back to Israel” will inspire and influence people to respect one another through respecting nature.

VENTURE: Avi and Avner are aiming to bring “TOMS Shoes” to Israel, and through a “One for One” deal, donate one pair of shoes to a needy child for every pair bought on the TOMS website.

Jesse Fox was raised in Raleigh, North Carolina and moved to Israel in his late teens. After volunteering on kibbutzim, he went on to earn degrees from Tel Aviv University and the Technion. Jesse has worked as a freelance journalist and blogger while volunteering with African asylum seekers. Currently, he is hoping to democratize urban planning in Tel Aviv through greater transparency. He lives in Jaffa.

VENTURE: To create a more sustainable Tel Aviv-Jaffa through better urban planning. He wants to bring easily understandable information about plans and policies to the public and eventually evolve these efforts into policy think tank.

Beverlyn Baer was born and raised in Chicago. She attended the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, where she majored in sociology. At the university Beverlyn participated in many community building and development volunteer projects where she saw that resources weren’t getting to poorer communities. She knew that in the challenge to better society there had to be a way to improve the lives of those struggling to get by. Beverlyn holds an MA in Public Policy and Administration from the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya. She hopes to find the most efficient way to make her venture idea blossom into a promising reality.

VENTURE: To build a community program that offers free workshops provided by willing professionals in various fields, and to host other events designed to improve all members of society’s standard of living.

Efrat Haddad was born in Israel but grew up in several different countries where she attended international schools. She has lived Nepal, Uruguay, The Nether-lands and Colombia. She has a B.A. in English Literature and Sociology/Anthropology from Bar Ilan University, and a Master’s Degree in Public Health from The Hebrew University. During the last two years she has worked at the Min-istry of Health in Israel. She takes special interest in promoting and improving the health and well-being of fellow citizens, and believes that eliminating smoking and passive smoking is one of the top public health priorities in Israel.

John Chacksfield has worked in the UK in health services for the last 20 years. He started his professional life as an occupational therapist in mental health and became a specialist in treating addictions and dual diagnosis, as well as led national interest groups in addictions and mental health. He has an MSc in the clinical and public health aspects of addiction from London’s Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College, University of London. He has managed several services for people with complex mental health needs. Now as an international health-care consultant, he has a track record of innovation and is passionate about improving public health, particularly smoking. He currently spends half his time in Israel and half in London, UK.

VENTURE: Efrat and John are working together to launch a quit smoking/health education/health marketing campaign in Tel Aviv, particularly targeted at parents and children.

Gil Cohen was born in Rehovot, Israel. She holds a B.Ed in Literature and Art from David Yellin Academic College of Education and a photography diploma from the Musrara School in Jerusalem. She also studied for her MA in Multidisciplinary Art at Tel Aviv University, and she is currently studying at Beit-Berl for an M.Ed in art education. Gil works as the art coordinator and teacher of Havruta School for Leadership and Culture in Emek-Hefer, and she is the co-founder, director, and co-curator of a phantom gal-lery in Tel Aviv.

Nitzan Wolanski holds a BA in Literature and from the multidisciplinary program in the arts from Tel Aviv University. She stud-ied for her MA at The Cohn Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Ideas also at Tel Aviv University. She is the director of international relations at the Fresh Paint Contemporary Art Fair, Tel Aviv, and she is the co-founder, director, and co-curator of a phantom gallery in Tel Aviv.

VENTURE: Gil and Nitzan will start a temporary gallery held in various spaces around Tel Aviv. Every few weeks, the gal-lery will “blink” for a week and then disap-pear until it reappears somewhere else in the city with a new exhibition. The venture will strengthen the relationship between art, community, and businesses.

Stephanie Tenenbaum made Aliyah from New Jersey in 2007. After two years as a Hummer instructor in the army, she has been work as a paralegal in Herzliya. She lives in Tel Aviv and enjoys running, surfing, and her dog, Oz.

VENTURE: To develop a group buying website to sell discounted coupons for Tel Aviv businesses, a portion of whose profits will be donated to social action projects. The site will also publicize these projects and encourage volunteerism.
