The Hubble diagram for SN Ia. The lines show the predictions for cosmologies with varying amounts of Ωm and ΩΛ L. The observed points all lie above the line for a universe with zero Λ. Thelower panel, with the slope caused by the inverse square law taken out, shows the difference between the predictions more clearly and shows why a model with ΩΛ > 0 is favored.

The arrival direction of cosmic-ray muons recorded with 40 IceCube strings (Southern Hemisphere). The variations are of order 10−3 on a uniform distribution. The color scale represents the relative intensity. The dots indicate the directions of Vela, the brightest gamma-ray source in the sky, and Geminga. Also shown is the muon data of Milagro obtained by the same method (Northern Hemisphere).
Medium scale anisotropy
IceCube
Milagro
Using only 4.3 billion downward-going events from half the detector, the IceCube data show an anisotropy in excess of 5σ in the arrival directions of the cosmic rays. The deviation from isotropy is at the 0.1% level. The median muon energy is about 20TeV and the primary energies of the Galactic cosmic rays that produce them are even higher.
This is a puzzling result, as the arrival directions of charged particles of such energy should be scrambled by Galactic magnetic fields.
Note that it is a challenge, possibly to common sense: the gyroradius of particles with energy exceeding 100 TeV in a microGauss field is less than 0.1 pc compared to the distances to nearby sources such as Vela that exceed 100 pc.
It is impossible to conclusively pinpoint supernova remnants as the sources of cosmic rays by identifying accompanying gamma rays of pionic origin. Detecting the accompanying neutrinos would provide incontrovertible evidence for cosmic ray acceleration in the sources.
In the absence of observation of TeV-energy supernova remnant neutrinos by IceCube, the nature of sources that produce cosmic rays near the knee of the spectrum is likely to remain unresolved until the commissioning of next-generation gamma ray detectors such as HAWC and CTA.

Practically all current GRB models predict bursts of very high energy neutrinos, with energy ranging from 100TeV to 104TeV (possibly up to 106TeV), that should accompany GRB. As the energy of these neutrinos are orders of magnitude higher than the energies of photons observed from cosmological distances, the corresponding time delays are longer and can open a new window on the Lorenz Invariance Violation (LIV) parameter space.
At this energy range the background level of currently constructed neutrino detectors is so low that a detection of a single neutrino from the direction of a GRB months or even years after the burst would imply an association of the neutrino with the burst and will establish a measurement of a time of flight delay. Such time of flight measurements provide the best way to observe (or set limits) on LIV. Detection of a single GRB neutrino would open a new window on LIV and would improve current limits by many orders of magnitude.
The 1637 bursts detected over an effective exposure time of 2.62 years and recorded in the BATSE 4B Catalog have an average fluence of 1.2 • 10−5 ergs/cm2. Assuming that the emitted neutrinos fluence is one tenth that observed in photons (a reasonable assumption concerning the relevant interactions), we obtain an average GRB induced flux of 5 x 1018 eV/(km2yr). Using the most likely value of E ≈ 100TeV and a detection probability of 10−4 in a km3 detector, we estimate a detection rate of 5 events per year.
