Mr . Birk wa!! a truck dri ver fo r many years and had retired from the Lincoln Developmental Center" n 1976 . He was a mem­ber of Immanuel ru th eran Church. lincoln Eagles lodge and the Teamsters Un ion.

He was born Sept. 5, 1907, in Jasper County, a son of Erhar1 and Oll ie Mae Brown Birk. He married Nellie Stanley on April 10, 1925, in Jasper County. She died June 1 S, 1969. He married Vema Whiteley Buse on June 12, 1971. She survives.

Other survivoT!l include three sons, Hobart of Manchester, N.H., Gilbert of Clinton and Jimmie "Pete" of lincoln; four daughters, Eloise Jones of lin­coln, Kathelene Lee of Carlsbad, Ca li f.. Mr. Heft was born Sept. 13. 1924. in Logan County, a son of J. Bertel and Fern Buehler Hen. He married Jean Kiick on Feb. 14.1948. She survi ... es.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

He was born May 15, 1904. in Sprin.ldield. the son of Berry L. and Nona Jennings Poole. He married Betsy Kirkman May 19, 1925, in Springfield. She sur­vives.

Also surviving are a son, Robert L. Poole of Colorado Springs, Co lo .. and thre e daughters, Linda Sue Diers and Carol Schmidt, both of lincoln, and Norma Barnhart of Bloom­ington; two brothers, Hebert Poole and Norman Poole, both of Springfield; and a sister, Dorothy McCord of Detroit, Mich .

A daughter, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Poole ' s remains have been donated to medical science and research . A private memu­rial service will be held at a later date.
