Johnson (2011) first documented a non-native skink(Plestiodon sp.) on Grand Bahama Island in Lucayan

NationalPark,CommonwealthofTheBahamas.However,speciesidentificationcouldnotbedeterminedbasedonthephotographsprovided. On2May2012,JakerioSpenceandCeciliaBodiecol-lectedanadult (78mmSVL) skinkat theRandNatureCentre, Freeport, Grand Bahama Island (26.53966ºN,78.67283ºW, Datum WGS84), approximately 28 kmwestof the site inLucayanNationalPark (26.60416ºN,78.40277ºW).ThisspecimenwasdepositedintheDivisionof Herpetology, Florida Museum of Natural History,UniversityofFlorida(UF167115),andbasedonkeymor-phologicalcharacters(seeConantandCollins1991,Powelletal.2012),weidentifieditasaSoutheasternFive-linedSkink,Plestiodon inexpectatusTaylor1932.TheidentityofthelizardwasconfirmedbyRobertH.Robins. WhileanecdotalreportsofskinksinLucayanNationalParkandnearbyareashaveaccruedsince2008(Johnson2011),thisspecieswaslikelyintroducedtoGrandBahamaIslandpriortothemid-1990swhenthefirstknownskinkwasobservedattheRandNatureCentre(S.D.Buckner,pers.comm.).Plestiodon inexpectatusisindigenoustoLouisianaeastwardtosouthernMarylandandFlorida,USA(ConantandCollins1991).Because it is themost abundant andwidelydistributedspeciesofPlestiodoninadjacentFlorida,USA(Kryskoetal.2011),webelievethatitslikelyinvasionpathwaywasviashipmentsofplantsorothercargofromFlorida.ThisisthefirstconfirmedintroductionofthisspeciesintheCommonwealthofTheBahamas(Kraus2009,Powelletal.2011).
