Maryland-Baltimore County of the America East Conference will pay a visit for a three-game set, beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m. The first two games of the series will be broadcast on KTGR while the Sunday finale will be on both KTGR and SEC Network+. ^ Mizzou is coming off of a two-game, midweek series sweep over Alabama A&M. Over the two games, the Tigers drew 27 walks, including 16 Wednesday, their most since drawing a school-record 18 in 2005. The 27 free passes moved Mizzou’s season walk total to 78, a national-best. The next-best mark is South Alabama, which has drawn 69. To put the mark into perspective, Mizzou is averaging 7.8 walks per game this season. If you were to stretch that mark out through the entire 56- game season, Mizzou would walk 437 times. The school-record is 384 in 1996. For even more perspective, the 437 walks would account for 39,330 feet of free passes, 4,330 feet higher than the average commercial jet liner cruises. ^ Mizzou enters the weekend set with UMBC ranked fourth nationally and second in the SEC in runs scored with 95 through 10 games. Vanderbilt (110 runs scored) is the only SEC team with more and is also the only team from a Power 5 conference with more runs than Mizzou. The Tigers are averaging 10.8 runs per game over the last six contests and are outscoring their opponents, 45-6, over the last four. ^ Junior 3B Brian Sharp is arguably the hottest hitter in the SEC over the last week of play. Since his breakout performance Saturday, which earned him SEC Player of the Week honors, Sharp is hitting .909 (10-for-11) with eight runs, 10 RBI, two homers, a double, a triple, 19 total bases and three walks. He has made just one out in his last 14 plate appearances, reaching base at a .929 clip. Add in the fact that he is 1-0 on the mound, throwing 9.2 shutout innings with 14 strikeouts and zero walks in that span, Sharp is emerging as one of the nation’s top two-way players. Below are Sharp’s ranks in the SEC: • Batting - 2nd - .517 • Hits - 4th - 15 • Slugging - 6th - .862 • OBP - 7th - .576 • Total Bases - 9th - 25 ^ Mizzou senior OF Trey Harris is off to an impressive ^ Mizzou and UMBC are meeting for the first time in the history of the two programs. ^ Mizzou is 20-13 at home under the direction of second-year head coach Steve Bieser. In February and March, Mizzou is 14-3 at home under Bieser’s direction. Mizzou will play its next eight games at Taylor Stadium. ^ Mizzou is 15-2 at home vs. non-conference teams under Bieser’s direction. SHARP IS THE SEC CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

^ Mizzou Baseball junior RHP/3B Brian Sharp (Liberty, Mo.) is the SEC Co-Player of the Week, announced Monday (Feb. 26) by the league office. Sharp earns SEC Player of the Week for the first time in his career and it his first SEC weekly honor since 2016 when he earned SEC Freshman of the Week following the second week of action that season.

^ Sharp was sensational in five games last week for the Tigers, who return home this week for five games at Taylor Stadium. The Liberty, Mo., native began his week by pitching 5.0 shutout innings in a 9-0 road win at No. 24 Miami Wednesday. In his first career start in 29 appearances, he reset career-highs for innings pitched and strikeouts (eight). He allowed just four hits against the nationally-ranked Hurricanes and did not walk a batter. He entered the game as the DH following his time on the mound and tallied a hit and a run in the win, a prelude to a huge weekend with the bat.

^ In Mizzou’s weekend series vs. Northeastern, Sharp exploded for one of the most impressive single-game performances in school history in the second game of a Saturday doubleheader. In Mizzou’s 20-1 win, Sharp went 5-for-5 with a pair of homers, a triple, a walk and a school-record nine RBI, tying the mark set by Jacob Priday on April 11, 2008, vs. Texas. His 13 total bases were the most since Priday had 15 in that same game vs. Texas. A double shy of the cycle, Sharp came to bat in the eighth inning with the bases loaded. Instead of hitting the double he needed for the cycle, he launched a grand slam to right field to complete the historic performance. He also had a three-run, go-ahead homer in the second inning of that game. In all, he hit .563/.588/1.125 on the week with 10 RBI.

^ Following Saturday’s heroics at the plate, Sharp pitched the final 4.2 innings of the series finale vs. Northeastern. He did not allow a run or a walk and scattered just three hits while striking out six. He finished the week throwing 9.2 shutout innings without a walk and 14 strikeouts while scattering just seven hits.

THREE TABBED TOP SENIORS

^ Three Tigers were named to PerfectGame.org’s Top 50 College Seniors List, announced Jan. 22. Among the three Tigers listed, two rank in the national top four as RS junior Bryce Montes De Oca and senior C Brett Bond, check in at No. 2 and No. 4, respectively. Senior OF Trey Harris ranks No. 32 on the list.

^ Mizzou and Texas A&M are the only teams with two players ranked in the Top 10 while the Tigers are the only team in the nation with three players ranked in the Top 50. Rankings are based on the players’ professional potential relative to the MLB Draft.

^ Montes De Oca, a physical and imposing pitcher who can touch triple digits with his fastball, will be looked at as one of the anchors of Mizzou’s pitching staff in 2018. He went 4-5 with a 4.28 ERA in his first season as a starter as a redshirt sophomore in 2017. He makes the list of seniors as he is in his fourth year with the program after earning a redshirt in 2016. His .205 opponent batting average was the team’s second-best mark last season while he struck out 61 batters in 61.0 innings of work. His 15 extra-base hits allowed were the team’s second-fewest last season. Montes De Oca was drafted in the 15th round by the Nationals last season, but he elected to return for his RS junior season.

^ Bond has been one of the most productive and consistent hitters over his three seasons in black and gold. He is coming off a career-best year during which he hit .307 with 13 doubles, 10 homers and 45 RBI, all career-best marks. He also slugged a career-best .507 and scored a career-high 41 runs as Mizzou’s everyday catcher. Bond is a .274 career hitter and his 22 career homers are just seven shy of cracking the all-time Mizzou Top-10. He was drafted in the 23rd round by the Astros before electing to return for his senior season.

^ Harris has been one of the most electrifying players in college baseball over the last three seasons and finally showed off his pure power potential in a career year at the plate in 2017. Harris slugged a team-best 12 homers last year while hitting a career-best .268 with 48 RBI, a team-best. His .508 slugging percentage was also a team-best as he added eight doubles to his 12 homers.

SIKKEMA A PRESEASON ALL-AMERICAN

^ Mizzou Baseball sophomore LHP T.J. Sikkema is a Preseason Second-Team All-American, announced Jan. 9 by PerfectGame.org. This marks the first time in his career that he has earned Preseason All-America status. Sikkema is coming off a tremendous freshman season during which he went 8-2 in 22 appearances, compiling a 2.72 ERA with four saves. His 0.88 WHIP was second among all freshmen nationally, while his 5.90 hits per nine innings was the nation’s 18th-best mark. Sikkema was twice named SEC Freshman of the Week last year and was an All-SEC Freshman Team selection. His eight wins are tied for the most-ever by a Mizzou true freshman. He led the SEC in WHIP and hits allowed per nine innings.

BIESER AMONG COLLEGE BASEBALL’S ELITE

^ Mizzou head coach Steve Bieser is coming off a 36-23 season in his first year at the helm of the Mizzou program. That made him the winningest first-year head coach in school history and also placed him among the elite of elite in the college baseball coaching ranks. Dating back to his final three years at SEMO, Bieser has now won at least 36 games in each of the last four seasons. He is one of just 13 active Division I coaches to be able to boast that feat. Below is a look at the company he is in:

^ Steve Bieser - Mizzou ^ Monte Lee - Clemson ^ Dan Heefner - Dallas Baptist ^ Kevin O’Sullivan - Florida ^ Mike Martin - Florida State ^ Todd Whiting - Houston ^ Dan McDonnell - Louisville ^ Paul Mainieri - LSU ^ Matt Riser - SELA ^ Jim Schlossnagle - TCU ^ Rob Childress - Texas A&M ^ Tim Corbin - Vanderbilt ^ Brian O’Connor - Virginia

^ Bieser is one of just five SEC head coaches on the list as well. The SEC leads all conferences with five coaches on the list as it again proves to be the nation’s best college baseball league.

ALL-SEC PRESEASON

^ Mizzou Baseball standout sophomore 1B Kameron Misner is a Second-Team All-SEC selection, announced Feb. 8 by the Southeastern Conference. The team was selected by the league’s 14 coaches. Misner is the first Mizzou position player to earn Preseason All-SEC honors since SS Ryan Howard did so in 2016. Misner was a Freshman All-American in 2017.

^ An outfielder a year ago, Misner will make the transition to first base this season. Last year, he was a middle-of-the-order threat for Mizzou all year as a freshman, turning in one of the best seasons for a true freshman hitter in recent memory. He hit seven homers, the most home runs by a Mizzou freshman since Trevor Coleman in 2007. In addition, his .282 average on the year was the best for a Mizzou freshman since Brett Bond (St. Louis, Mo.) hit .294 in 2015. He joined classmate Chris Cornelius (St. Louis, Mo.) as the first Mizzou freshmen to drive in more than 30 runs in a season since 2010.

^ Misner added 12 doubles and one triple while driving in 34 runs and scoring 39. He stole a team-high 17 bases on the year, a mark that ranked fourth in the SEC after the SEC Tournament.

MIZZOU BASEBALL LEADS SEC IN GSR’S

^ A big mark of Mizzou head coach Steve Bieser’s mantra is academic success, and the Tigers have thrived in that area over the last year. In fact, Mizzou compiled a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 and led the entire SEC in graduation success rate (97). The GSR was developed by the NCAA with the entering freshmen class of 1995 to more accurately assess student-athlete’s academic performance. The rate holds institutions accountable for transfer students, unlike the federal graduation rate. The GSR also accounts for midyear enrollees and is calculated for every sport.

^ With an overall school-record Graduation Success Rate (GSR) score of 91, Mizzou student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom as well as competition, ranking third in the SEC as an entire department.

BOND, HARRIS CLOSING IN ON MIZZOU CAREER MARKS

^ Mizzou seniors Brett Bond and Trey Harris rank among the top seniors in college baseball this season and highlight a potent Mizzou offense returning to the diamond in 2018. Both have been fixtures in the middle of the Mizzou order over their first three years with the program. As one might expect, each is moving in on all-time career top-10 marks at Mizzou. Below is a look:

^ Bond - 7 homers shy of career top 10 ^ Bond - 51 RBI shy of career top 10 ^ Harris - 10 homers shy of career top 10 ^ Harris - 35 RBI shy of career top 10 ^ Harris - 1 steal away from career top 10
