Business vs. organization
In this presentation, you will come across the terms organisation and business.
You might think these words mean the same thing, but there is a difference.
The word organisation describes a group of people working together to achieve
a particular purpose, e.g. a business, government
department or charity.
A business is a specific type of organization, which exists
to sell goods or services (products). Businesses
are mainly concerned with adding value.
Do you know what that is?

Analysing your local business environment
1. Enter your school or college’s postcode into the Google Maps website. Then type in the names of some organizations, e.g. doctors, butchers, cafés, hairdressers, etc.
2. Try to collect newspaper articles about local businesses, as well as promotions/advertisements from different companies in your area.
3. Think about the information you have collected. What type of goods and/or services do these businesses sell or provide?
4. Design a poster about the main business purposes of the organizations in your area.
