COLLEGE OF GOVERNANCE

UNIVERSITY

the network for sourcing executives

BUSINESS OVERVIEW

SIG University is an online learning environment that focuses on enhancing skills for professionals in sourcing, governance and procurement. Its asynchronous virtual environment allows an education without borders, helping working professionals gain the skills they need to compete in the jobs they want.

The use of outsourcing as a service delivery mechanism has continued to grow in prevalence over the past two decades as has shared services. Additionally, the maturity of service delivery has advanced as organizations progress through first, second and third generations of outsourcing and shared service center delivery. Over the past several years, Global Business Services have become the dominant model for service delivery in major corporations, particularly those with a global footprint. The GBS service delivery model has increased the complexity of governance since it relies on a combination of outsourcing, shared services and other internal resources. Unfortunately, enterprise service delivery governance maturity has not kept pace with the maturation that has taken place in the actual delivery of services. As a result, a more consistent and sophisticated approach to governance is required. This is particularly important given the increased use of these advanced service delivery methods, the growing number of parties involved, and the overall shift in intent from cost savings toward value creation and transformation. Without a consistent governance framework applied across the enterprise, organizations have little influence or ability to assess and improve their overall capability and maturity. This places the organization unnecessarily at risk and limits the value that could be added with a mature, enterprise-wide governance capability. Additionally, improvement cannot happen across the enterprise, or even within a governance team, without training at the individual level. SIG University offers two dynamic governance certifications delivered in a scalable virtual classroom:

• Certified Governance Professional • Certified Governance Expert
