NBAA Local/Regional Business Aviation Associations Networking Session

Tuesday, October 20, 2009 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. S230E

Todd Wormington
This should also probably include location (City, State). I would recommend as well specificying this in a way that more clearly indicates how you want the date formatted so that it is uniform. For example, Month DD, YYYY • Washington, DC will at least help (but not prevent) other variations. The text box should probably be expanded a bit even if the city and state are not added.

This image is probably one of my least favorite for a couple of reasons: 1)It looks falic, 2)If you aren't involved with aviation you are not going to recognize what you are looking at which gets back to my first point.I think a far better image would be the wing tip we use on the new NBAA folders. Not only is this image more visually appealing I think it also conveys some better messages. Namely, that we're leading edge, and the use of the wing tip represents effeciency as well. I'd give it a try because I think you're going to like it a lot better.

1. Positive - depends on what the meeting is about. No charge and always sponsored; Negative - need more flight department involvement from upper levels.

2. Safety Standdown, Networking Opportunities

3. We have tried to be aggressive in having more activities so that our membership finds a value in their membership. So far we have had a positive feedback on our activities and found a boost of new membership due to these activities.

4. Keeping the word out there that we exist. In the past is have been by word of mouth and emails. I am very interested in a website for PRSDA as it will greatly help us communicate with everyone, not just those involved with PRSDA.

5. We have started to re-charge the group in our region by re-defining our purpose and goals.

6. We have tried to create membership value (training, education, communication, advocacy) but growth is incremental. We have tried to gain legitimacy as voice of GA at HPN through safety, security and community outreach

What specific actions taken by your group have affected its growth both positively and negatively?

Page 19: & Convention NBAA Local/Regional Business Aviation Associations Networking Session

19

7. Continue growth curve by keeping our membership abreast of regional/national events impacting business aviation. We do this by quarterly luncheons (with impactful program/speakers), emailings of Board publications/letters and attempting to keep our web-site updated.

8. Great Presenters; fast action at the meeting; No Q&A slows down meeting - attendees lose interest

9. Positive- news and press about our group – meetings; Focus on all aspects of aviation not just pilot operations. Negatively - lack of time (volunteer) by board to operate effectively.

10. Positive - becoming politically active has helped members with access, ground lease costs, and airport planning (ensuring space for corporate hangars at BFI). Negative - being perceived as a BFI only club with little relevance outside Seattle

11. Limited guest speaker availability

12. Positively: support by the MKC airport manager and fundraising events. Negatively: Good people losing their jobs and moving away from Kansas City that were leaders in the organization

What specific actions taken by your group have affected its growth both positively and negatively?

Page 20: & Convention NBAA Local/Regional Business Aviation Associations Networking Session

20

13. Local and State Wide Meetings, Texas Aviation Summit, Gulf Coast Wings, local speaking engagements.

14. Development of 4 year aviation academic program in an area university; Actively encouraging smaller GA airports to join our team.

15. Greater communication with airport management and fellow airport tenants. Frequent community events which boost our sense of community. Aircraft operators and Fire Department/Crash Crew equipment familiarization.

16. We hold many discussions/presentations throughout the year to create awareness, strengthen relationships with government and local agencies and individuals, craft solutions and recommendations.

17. We do a monthly happy hour, monthly dinner/network with a speaker, and a monthly activity like going to FlightSafety.

18. Requesting Airport Operations, Local Air Traffic Control Operations, Local TSA Officials as well as Vendors to provide information on current issues to be covered at each meeting.

What specific actions taken by your group have affected its growth both positively and negatively?
