The Overall User Report shows you how many active RSIGuard users there are, the status of your HR database, and your access rights.

Each administrator can be granted adifferent level of access. For example, supervisors might only be able to view their reports, while safety staff might only be allowed to view people in their location.

You can launch the GroupInsight reporting application directly from the Administrator Console.

Why Is Reporting Valuable?Reporting allows you to:Reporting allows you to:

• Identify high risk situationsIdentify high risk situations– What individuals or parts of your

organization are at greatest riskof injury?

• Identify high risk situationsIdentify high risk situations– What factors lead to injury in your

organization?

• Identify levels of complianceIdentify levels of compliance– What individuals or parts of your organization are successfully

complying with safety goals (e.g breaks, work restrictions).

• Evaluate the success of your safety programEvaluate the success of your safety program– What parts of your organization are still in need of improvement,

and what types of improvement are most needed?

What is UserInsight?

• Quickly see relative risk for discomfortQuickly see relative risk for discomfort– Does this individual’s patterns indicate that they are at

high, medium or low risk for developing discomfort?

• Identify what risks this user facesIdentify what risks this user faces– Rapidly see which factors (e.g. static postures, repetition,

breaks, etc.) are most problematic for a user.

• Identify compliance successIdentify compliance success– See how well the user is able to take regular recommended

breaks, and if appropriate, follow prescribed work restrictions.

• Determine the most important things to improveDetermine the most important things to improve– Whether a user is symptomatic or not, UserInsight offers

objective evidence about what changes are likely to be most important to reduce or prevent discomfort.

UserInsight provides a view through time of single UserInsight provides a view through time of single users. Geared towards ergonomists, safety staff, users. UserInsight, cont’dThis graph shows the “Combined Risk Estimate” which considers break and microbreak compliance, as well as length and repetition of keyboard and mouse usage. By comparing results to a large database of discomfort/usage data, UserInsight estimates a user’s risk of developing discomfort.

This graph shows the length of time a user spends at the computer. This indicates level of risk from static posture.

The light grey dashed line is the data recorded by RSIGuard. The dark blue line shows the trend of the data (e.g. is the user, on average, spending more or less time at the computer).

UserInsight, cont’dThis graph shows the breakdown of time spent on the keyboard vs. mouse. Based on a large database of users from diverse jobs & companies, UserInsight shows how a user’s usage compares to average usage.

Placing the mouse over the icon provides detailed help about the meaning and use of each graph. For example, for the above graph, the context-help explains that 75% of users are in the green area. The 75th-90th% percentile is in the yellow area, and the 90th+% percentile is in red.

UserInsight, cont’dThis graph shows an estimate of muscular strain that the user experienced from their keyboard usage based on normative EMG studies. This offers an exposure estimate that is more meaningful than simple keystroke counts because it considers the type of keystroke as well.

The trend curve (the blue line) is a smoothed representation of the actual data. You can adjust the smoothness of this curve by pressing Ctrl and Ctrl . The example to the right is a highly smoothed version of the graph above, and shows that although daily keyboard use varies greatly, on average this user has fairly constant strain exposure.

UserInsight, cont’dThese graphs show a users break-taking patterns. They provide insight into how many breaks RSIGuard suggests, how many of those breaks are skipped, and a 2 views of break-compliance – one with natural breaks considered, and one without.

The color coding in the compliance graphs makes it easy to quickly see risky break behavior.

Other graphs show more detail about natural break-taking behavior, time spent in suggested breaks, the degree to which the user postones breaks, and stretch viewings.

UserInsight, cont’dThese graphs (and several others) show detailed usage tallies for various mouse and keyboard actions. They provide insight about usage patterns and levels of repetition. As always, a detailed description of how to use each statistic is available by placing the mouse cursor over the icon.

Other graphs provide insight into a user’s utilization of RSIGuard features like KeyControl and AutoClick.

UserInsight, cont’dThe “work restriction exceeded” graph provides insight into how well a user with a workers’ compensation-related restriction is complying with physician-prescribed limits.

UserInsight also provides innovative analyses of data that act as proxies for important information that a computer cannot directly measure, such as:

• User fatigue• Keyboard force• Typing posture of hands

UserInsight Use Scenarios

• During an employee ergonomic evaluation, the evaluator During an employee ergonomic evaluation, the evaluator should review UserInsight graphs.should review UserInsight graphs.– If the eval is preventative, the evaluator should look for

clues about potential risks and mitigations that are most likely to be beneficial.

– If the evaluation is in response to an injury, UserInsight data can be used to both identify and rule out possible causes. E.g. poor posture is less likely a problem for a user with short work hours, whereas mouse placement may be a primary risk factor for a user with high mouse usage.

• If an injured employee visits a doctor, they should bring If an injured employee visits a doctor, they should bring printouts of their UserInsight data.printouts of their UserInsight data.– A doctor can use UserInsight data to guide their diagnosis.– If the doctor determines that a work restriction is

appropriate, UserInsight data provides an objective basis for a meaningful restriction.

The Power of GroupInsightThe primary power of GroupInsight is in its ability to:

• Identify populations of employees that meet specific criteria, for example:– Which users use the computer over 6 hours per day?– Which users are most in need of in-person evaluations due to higher risk?– Which users would benefit most from new equipment (e.g. chair) due to long static exposures?– Which users in Accounting type significantly more than the average Accounting employee?– Which departments have the lowest levels of break compliance?– Which employees use features like ForgetMeNots and AutoClick?

• Learn about the characteristics of specific populations, for example:– How many hours per day do people in each of our 3 locations spend on the computer? How does

this vary on a quarter-by-quarter basis?– Do people in departments that have higher worker’s comp costs suffer more from low break

compliance or high mouse usage? How should that affect safety resource allocation?– What levels of mouse and keyboard strain are found in each of various business groups?– Determine organizational averages to provide either to employees or supervisors to help people

understand where their usage is unusually high.– Do employees who use AutoClick have significantly lower mouse exposures?

• Communicate to specific populations via GroupInsight email, for example:– Let high mouse users know about an AutoClick training.– Notify users with poor break compliance of the issue and the need to take regular computer rests.– Ask users with higher than average risk levels to request an in-person evaluation if desired.

Employee CommunicationAfter a search has been completed, the resulting set of users can be emailed from GroupInsight with information relevant to their situation.

For example, if your company offers a training in the use of RSIGuard’s AutoClick feature, you could search for the people who would most benefit from using it (e.g. higher than average click counts and mouse strain).

Then, after completing the search, you could invite them to attend an AutoClick training.
