• Specifi ed power only Do not apply the voltage which is not specified on the nameplate to the prod-

uct. Otherwise failure or fire may result. Only the specified power source must be used.

• Restriction on installation location and storage Do not install or store the controller in the following places. * Flammable atmosphere, explosive atmosphere. * The ambient temperature is extremely high (50 deg.C or higher) or extreme-

• Install an earth leakage breaker The operation of this product without using an earth leakage breaker may

cause an electrical shock. Install an leakage breaker in accordance with the capacity of the system.

• Do not pull the plug cord to have a plug out of the socket Have the plug body to pull a plug out of the socket. Pulling the plug cord can

damage the cord itself and result in a fire due to electrical shock or short cir-cuit.

• Use the attached power cord only Use only the power flex attached at the time of shipment for power source.

• Damaged controller Do not operate the damaged pump. The damaged pumps may cause leakage

or electrical shock.

• Disposal of the used controller The used or damaged controller should be disposed of in accordance with

the relevant local laws and regulations. (Consult a licensed industrial waste products disposing company.)

• Keep nameplate clean If labels and nameplate come off or are weather-beaten, replace them with

Outline

The MFC outputs the control signal to an invert-er for a certain stroke speed. The inverter con-trols frequency in accordance with the control signal to adjust the motor and pump speed.

The system has three main features. Stable stroke speed control down to 1spm. The MFC controls the stroke speed in the feed-back control by a stroke speed detector installed in the pump. This enables operation immune to the load fluctuation. Automatically controlled operation by the exter-nal input signal.

CAUTION● Installation space

Secure the working space 250mm in width and 150mm in height.● The installation surface of the controller should be the wooden board with at

least 25mm in thickness or the iron plate with at least 2.3mm in thickness.● Do not install this product close to flammable object.● Installation location

Avoid installing the product in the places where...• Temperature change is wide and frequent (Allowable temperature range: 0-50deg.C).• Humidity tends to get extremely high or low (Allowable humidity range: 30-90%RH).• The product may be exposed to direct sunshine.• The product may get wet with the spilled water.• In the corrosive gas atmosphere.• Under mechanical vibration.• Under electromagnetic field.• Person may touch the terminal by accident.NOTE: Installation surface should tolerate the weight of the controller.

6. Before installationInstall the MFC-L10W, following the next steps. The MFC-L10W has 3 fixation points on the back.

1. Tap A and B for M4 screw. See the drawing at the lower left.2. Apply a round head screw on installation surface with its round head floated about 4mm for the fixation

point A . The round head screw should be made of stainless steel with 15mm or longer, and the screw for the fixation points B should be stainless steel with 20mm or longer.

3. Catch the round head screw on the installation surface with the fixation point A . See the drawing at the lower right.

4. Check the gap between the product and the installation surface. If the gap is too wide, screw the round head screw in and adjust the gap.

5. Fix the product with M4 screws on the installation surface through the fixation points B . Check if the controller is secure.

7. Wiring7-1. Outline For proper operation, ensure correct wiring between the pump, inverter and stroke speed detector.

Installation

CAUTION

● Do not bind signal wires to a power cord or output relay wires together.● Do not share a power source with the high power equipment that generates surge

voltage, otherwise the controller may fail.● Risk of electrical shock. Be sure to provide a protective earthing.

Use a yellow/green spiral wire to secure correct wiring.● Use an isolator to extend the wire of the stroke speed detector. Reduction of signal

level and noise interference can cause malfunction.The sensor output is open collector.

● Refer to the instruction manual of the inverter for the wiring for inverter control and inverter RUN/STOP.

● Refer to the instruction manual of inverter for noise problems.

CAUTION● Wiring work while the pump is operating can cause electrical shock or short circuit. Be

sure to turn off power before conducting wiring work.● Right after power source is turned off, the internal circuit is still electrified. Wait one

minute or more before work.

Installation7-2. General wiring

1. Loose two screws with a driver to remove the ter-minal cover.

2. Remove an unused cord nut and a blind cap. And insert a cord into a terminal box through a cord nut and a cord gasket in order.

3. Connect the leads to the connector. Strip the end of the leads about 5mm and connect each lead into corresponding terminals. Tighten the screws on the connector to fix the end of leads with a flathead screwdriver by an approximate tighten-ing torque 0.4N·m.

CAUTIONConfirm that the connector is completely attached. Incomplete connection can cause a malfunction.

4. Attach the terminal cover and fix it with screws.

CAUTION

Mount the terminal cover while check-ing a terminal cover gasket is in place. Incomplete placement can cause a liquid influx.

5. Tighten cord nut in the last place.

CAUTION

4 - 8mm is the suitable cord diameter for wiring. When using the cord smaller than 4 mm, seal performance declines and this could lead to failure. Provide a preventa-tive measure.

1. Stroke speed sensor

● Wring of stroke speed detectorThe stroke speed detector transmits the pump stroke speed to the controller. Arrange wiring, fol-lowing the left drawing. Connect the brown lead to , black lead to , blue lead to on the right terminal block.Strip the end of each lead of AWG24-12 about 5mm and connect the leads to each terminal by screws. Approximate tightening torque is 0.4N•m.

CAUTION

A sensor cable can be extended up to 100m without an amplifier. Use a triplex extension cable of 0.14mm2 or more. Install an isolator or any other suitable device in order to reduce a noise problem and the risk of malfunction as necessary.

● Wiring of the inverter RUN/STOPArrange wiring between the (+) and (-) on the right terminal block and the corresponding terminals of inverter. The inverter should corre-spond to the semiconductor contact input or the no-voltage contact input.Strip the end of each lead of AWG24-12 about 5mm and connect the leads to each terminal by screws. Approximate tightening torque is 0.4N•m.

● Wiring of the inverter 4-20mAArrange wiring between the (+) and (-) on the right terminal block and the analogue input terminals of inverter.Strip the end of each lead of AWG24-12 about 5mm and connect the leads to each terminal by screws. Approximate tightening torque is 0.4N•m.

CAUTION

Wrong polarity on the analogue input sig-nal can cause controller trouble.

9-2. Pulse dividing operationIn this mode, the pump runs in the dividing operation for the external pulse signal. Dividing ratio is variable within the setting range between "9999 : 1" and "1 : 1". The maximum stroke rate of the pulse dividing oper-ation is equivalent to that of manual operation. When the input signals are entered over the max stroke rate, the residual signals are stored up to 65535.

9-3. Pulse multiply operationIn this mode, the pump runs in the multiply operation between 1 and 9999 times for an external pulse signal and stops automatically. OperationThe following steps show how to display the flow rate instead of the spm indication. Run the pump for the air elimination of the pump head and piping in order to prepare for the calibration of discharge capacity. Have the pump in WAIT mode after the preparation.

1. Transition to CAL mode Press the DISP key for 3 seconds in WAIT mode

to move to CAL mode.

2. Waiting time setting Press the EXT key in CAL mode to move to the

waiting time setting screen. Use ▲ and ▼ keys to set the waiting time to the start of the meas-urement. The initial setting of the waiting time is 30 seconds.

3. Pump shot setting Push the EXT key in the waiting time setting to

move to the shot setting. Use ▲ and ▼ keys to set the number of shots. Initial setting is 60 shots.

4. Flow rate measurement initiation As EXT key is pushed, the controller starts the

countdown of the waiting time. Buzzer sounds three seconds before the start.

The pump runs at the stroke rate in WAIT mode. If the stroke rate is too slow, measurement time becomes longer and the accuracy of the calibra-tion also reduces. Set a proper stroke speed in WAIT mode.

5. Flow rate calibration completion At the end of waiting time, the pump starts to

count down the number of shots. Measure the flow rate in an appropriate measuring method. Buzzer sounds 3 shots before the last one. Stop the flow rate measurement when the pump stops.

6. Actual flow rate input Enter the actual flow rate by mL. Push the DISP

key to move digits and ▲ & ▼ keys to change the figure. Push the EXT key and then key to move to WAIT mode.

Operation<Transmission output setting>For transmission output, amperage can be set at two points of stroke speed.

1. Stroke rate setting at point A Push the EXT key in the transmission output

screen to move to the stroke rate setting screen. Use ▲ and ▼ keys to adjust the stroke rate. The screen shifts to the flow rate indication when pushing the DISP key.

2. Current value setting at point A Push the EXT key in the stroke rate setting

screen to move to the current value setting screen. Use ▲ and ▼ keys to adjust the current value.

3. Stroke rate setting at point B Push the EXT key in the current value setting

screen at point A. Use ▲ and ▼ keys to adjust the stroke rate. The flow rate indication appears on the screen when pushing the DISP key.

4. Current value setting at point B Push the EXT key in the stroke rate setting

screen to move to the current value setting screen. Use ▲ and ▼ keys to adjust the current value.

After the setting, press the EXT key to return to C.out screen (Transmission output screen) in the last place.

Operation<AL1 relay output setting>Pre STOP, STOP, C.UP, F.AL, D.AL and REVO can be allocated to AL1 for alarm output. When the alarm signal is outputted, check each item on screen.

1. AL1 output selection Push the EXT key in the AL1 screen to move to

the Pre STOP selection screen. Use ▲ and ▼ keys to select ON (active) or

OFF (non-active) at each selection screen and push the EXT key to move to the next selection screen.

After the end of the selection of REVO, press the EXT key to return to the AL1 screen in the last place.

Pre-STOP(PST)

: The alarm signal is outputted when the Pre-STOP terminal receives the signal from a level sensor.

STOP(STOP)

: The alarm signal is output-ted when the STOP terminal receives the signal from a level sensor.

Multiply opera-tion completion(C.UP)

: The alarm signal is outputted when the pump completes the total number of strokes in MULT mode.

Abnormal flow rate(F.AL)

: The alarm signal is outputted when the abnormality on flow rate is detected or when the pump stops. A flow checker setting is needed for activating this function.

Diaphragm rup-ture detection(D.AL)

: The alarm signal is output-ted 10 seconds after the dia-phragm rupture detector termi-nal receives the signal.

System malfunc-tion(REVO)

: The alarm signal is outputted when the essential functions for operation is lost.

1. Flow check mode setting Push the EXT key in the flow checker setting

screen to indicate the mode selection screen. Use ▲ and ▼ keys to select A, B or C mode. See below for detail.

2. The setting of the number of dry shots Push the EXT key to indicate the setting screen.

Use ▲ and ▼ keys to set the number of dry shots from 1 to 100. Then return to the FL.c screen (The top of the flow checker setting screen) to complete the setting.

● A.mode The alarm signal is outputted to AL1/AL2 when

the number of dry shots has reached the prede-termined number. The pump keeps running in this state. The alarm signal stops when the con-troller receives the signals from the flow checker.

If the alarm is not released, push key to return to WAIT mode and check the wiring of the flow checker and piping.

<Anti-chattering setting> The anti-chattering function is provided for the pulse input in DIV and MULT operation. Initial setting is FT01.

1. Mode selection FT01, FT02 or FT04 is selectable for a certain

pulse input. The higher signal frequency is, the smaller figure should be applied to. Initial setting is FT01.

After the mode selection, press the EXT key to return to Ant.C screen to complete the selection.

NOTE: Apply a large figure when chatter-ing is possible.

<Key code setting>Key code setting for releasing Keypad lock

1. Key code setting Push the EXT key in the Key code screen to

move to the entering code screen. Press the Disp key to move to the next digit and enter the code by ▲ and ▼ keys. After setting a code, push the EXT key to return to the key code screen and complete the setting.

● B.mode The alarm signal is outputted to AL1/AL2 when

the number of dry shots has reached the prede-termined number. The pump keeps running in this state, and the controller keeps sending the alarm signal even after receiving the signal from the flow checker.

To release this state, push key.

● C.mode The alarm signal is outputted to AL1/AL2 when

the pump has made 10 more dry shots than the predetermined number. The pump makes addi-tional 10 shots after the output and then stops.

To release this state, push key.

There are no parts replaceable by users themselves. Return the product for replacement or repair.2. Cleaning

Dip the soft cotton cloth or gauze in ethanol and wipe dirt away from the exterior of controller. Ethanol is flammable. Be careful to handle it.The exterior of the controller is vulnerable to strong alkali/acid and the organic solvent such as thinner and benzine.
