double tuning circuitry in the RF section. Both are wellactuated for obtaining an excellent sensitivity of 2pY andselectivity rated at more than 70 dB. The tuner sectionalso employs three integrated circuits (lCs) in the lF am-plifier section, and these are very much responsible for theefficient capture ratio rated at 2.5 dB.

To eliminate unwanted signals and to ensure excellent se-lectivity, an ACC (Automatic Cain Control) amplifier is

employed in the first stage of the AM tuner section. Superbsensitivity is also maintained throughout this section bythe use of a ferrite bar antenna and RF amplifier.

ALJMg{} STCTI$hJThe SX-626 f rom Pioneer incorporates all silicon transistorsand quasi-coplimentary single-ended push-pull circuitry toaflord total performance over all important characteristicssuch as frequency response, power bandwidth, harmonicdistortion and signal-to-noise ratio. Maximum power out-put at 4 ohms is up to 1-10 watts, more than enough topower the world's finest hi-fi speakers, more than enoughto fill even an extra-large room with quality sound. Addi-tionally, an FET (field effect transistor) is employed in thefirst stage of the control amplifier section to obtain highinput impedance, and noise-free sound reproduction.

IA4MINSE VERSATILITYVersatility is one important keynote of the SX-626. lt isprovided with input terminals to allow you to simultaneous-ly connect two turntables, two tape decks, up to three pairsof speaker systems (but only two simultaneously), and a

microphone. With this versatility, you can perform tape-to-tape duplicating, or you can even perform a listeningtest of different cartridges and speaker systems.

PRE/MAIN AMP SEPARATE USEThe pr,eamplifier and main amplifier sections of the SX-626can be used separately by using the pre/main switch. Byadding an electronic crossover network (Pioneer ModelSF-700 or SF-500) and one or more power anrplifiers, youmay also adapt your music system to a multi-amplifier ste-reo system.

OTHER FEATURFS

The SX-626 also features click-stop tone controls and high/low filters to cut down undesirab.le noise, a loudnessswitch for more natural frequency response at low volumelevels, a stereo/mono mode switch, and a signal strengthmeter for ease of tuning.

EFFECTIVE FM MUTINC SWITCHUnpleasant noise is often heard between FM stations dur-ing tuning. The SX-626, however, has a muting switch,located on the front panel, to cut out these noises. Themuting level can be set to match the local field strengthconditions; all signals weaker than the setting will then beeliminated for easy, noise-free tuning.

rASY TAPE-TO-TAI}E D LJPLICATINCThe SX-626 is equipped with two sets of tape output ter-minals. You thus may use any two tape decks-open reel,cassette, B-track cartridge, etc. - connected simultaneously,and carry out tape-to-tape duplicating and dual recordingwith great ease.
