Reformation 500th Anniversary PrintsWith the cooperation of The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia and the Rev. Dr. Karl Krueger, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod is able to make available a limited number of reproductions of two pieces of Reformation history. Each of these two reproductions represent the theology and doctrine of Martin Luther and Philip Melanchthon, and are being made available exclusively to members of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod. These reproductions will be numbered and limited to an exclusive run of 100 copies each.

The first reproduction is of the title page from the original Book of Concord dating from 1580. The translation, in part reads:

CONCORDIA

YHWH

Christian, Recapitulated, Unanimous Confession of the Teaching and Faith by the Undersigned Electors, Princes, and Estates of the Augsburg Confession and by Their Theologians, Whose Names Are Subscribed at the End of the Book.

With an Appended Declaration—Well-Grounded in the Word of God as the Only Guiding Principle—of Several Articles about Which Controversy and

Strife Occurred after Dr. Martin Luther’s Blessed Death.

The detail of the reproduction is astounding and is produced on fine art paper, and is suitable for framing in an 11 X 14 format or larger.

The second reproduction is of an extremely unique piece of art dating from the eighteenth century. The art depicts Martin Luther in a way that is unusual and fascinating. The folds of Luther’s robe have been replaced with the words of the Athanasian Creed (in German). On Luther’s left is a border made up of the words of the Nicene Creed (again, in German). On Luther’s right is a border made up of the words of the Apostles’ Creed (also in German). Finally, the outside borders of this reproduction are a grape vine (on Luther’s right) and wheat stalks (on Luther’s left) representing the elements of the Eucharist. This reproduction is also produced on fine art paper, and is suitable for framing in an 11 X 14 format or larger

Samples of the full-sized reproductions will be available for viewing at the Synod Assembly at the booths where rostered ministers will be having their portraits taken for the 500th Anniversary Directory. Orders for the reproductions can be made at that time. However, advance orders are now being taken. Payment must be made at the time orders are made. The cost of each reproduction is $50.00. An order form is found on the back of this document.
