Due to the unexpected COVID-19 outbreak, we received 5 of the 99 booked cruise calls.
Unfortunately, Norwegian gov-ernment still has impost strict regulations on cruising in Nor-wegian waters until 01.02.2021.
They allow sailing with 200 per-sons on board (crew, pax) but no disembarkation.

Back in office
This spring an incident caused by unexpected weather condi-tions damaged the quay.
Quay 31 already had weight lim-itations and is not available any longer as a berth for cruise.
The future use of quay 31 as a cruise berth is being determined after thorough assessment.

In 2020 we got an account on the Zielia platform.
The availability calendar as well as the attractions and port in-formation has been updated recently.
We are happy to provide more information, if the content is insufficient.
We also have updated infor-mation on the platforms of
Cruise Norway and Cruise Eu-rope.
Our local cruise enthusiasts fol-low the facebook-page of “Cruise i Trondheim” to marvel at the in-coming vessels.

The Speilsalen restaurant in the
newly renovated, historical Ho-
tel Britannia earned a Michelin
star this year, just one year after
reopening.
Restaurants Credo and Fagn
kept their awarded Michelin
stars from 2019.
We are looking into offering
shore excursion experiences to
Hotel Britannia.

talented and dedicated chefs.
Trondheim Port aims to offer
shore power to cruise ships by
2025.
The amount of capacity needed
is not available at Brattøra-area

close cooperation with munici-

APPROVED JOINT CRUISE STRATEGY

Spreading calls
Clipping of the availability calendar
Port, destination, chamber of com-
merce and municipality compiled a
joint cruise strategy. Last year it
was ratified by the city council on
17.12.2019.
This joint strategy as well as
Trondheim ports own strategy, tar-
gets sustainable growth in cruise
business.
Together with 12 other cruise mu-
nicipalities in Norway, Trondheim
signed the joint declaration of will
in 2019, declaring to intensify work
on reducing emissions caused by the
cruise ships in port.
Adopted joint
cruise strategy
SHORE POWER BY 2025
We started distributing an availa-
bility calendar in 2019 to cruise
line representatives.
The calendar is updated continu-
ously and can be requested, but is
send out with even intervals.
We hope that the calendar will
make plotting easier and that it
will help us spread calls more
evenly. Avoiding tender calls is
also favourable. We practice the
“first-come first-serve” rule.
Shore Power by 2025
We are currently working on a Port Management Plan for Trondheim based on the EU-guidelines for handling cruise calls.
National legislation in Norway is strict and the governments approval to sail is needed. All national restrictions have to be adhered.
Local restrictions are the con-tent of the PMP, which has to
get approved by our local chief municipal physician.
We aim to distribute the plan by January 2021.

Releasing prices for 2021 soon
Trondheim Port is an appointed emergency port under the cur-rent COVID-19 pandemic due to the proximity of St. Olav hospi-tal and the possibility to have a ship in quarantine docked at the cruise quay.
Therefore, we can receive calls also with possible, probable and confirmed cases of COVID-19.

We will be testing a new shorex operation
traffic flow within the ISPS-area at the
cruise quay. This is to improve security
measures majorly. The practical test will
help us to identify the safest and best so-

A basic feasibility study is conducted to
determine building a new cruise quay at
Pir I.
The project to improve public access to
the breakwater along the cruise quay is to
be finished by 2021.
