Could you have been the lucky one? New Drawing Format! Up to FIVE draws!

Ok, here is how it works…. Beginning in April, instead of two drawings per Family Night we will have up-to FIVE drawings per night depending on how large the pot has grown. Each successive drawing of the night will be reduced by $100. For example, if the pot is at $500, the first drawing is for $500, the second drawing is for $400, third is $300, Fourth drawing is $200. The fifth and last drawing is for $100. We will continue to grow the pot with $50 per week anytime the pot is under $500. Another example would be if the pot is at $250, then the first drawing would be $250, the second drawing would be $150, and the last drawing would be for $50. If no one wins, we will increase the pot by $50 for next week. Figuring out the odds on this would take a Las Vegas Shark, but one thing is for sure, we will have MORE WINNERS!

May 4th 1st name $250 Jim McCord 2nd name $150 Rick Black

Winner! May 11th 1st name: $150 Chad Trumble 2nd name $50 Craig Shires

No Winner May 18th 1st name $200 Travis Isom 2nd name $100 Tad Cornett

Hey everyone. May has been very exciting. The Silver Tees was for the second year a rain dance. There has been talk of booking this tournament in order to GET rain. Last year we could not even play the whole course as the back nine was flooded. This year it misted on us the first morning and the sun came up in the afternoon and was beautiful, of course! The next morning it was cold, rainy and miserable. Who does this, play in 50 degree weather with just enough rain to keep everything wet? Just about sixty or so committed women golfers. By our fifth or sixth hole nothing was dry. Clubs, balls, towels, ourselves, the course, EVERYTHING! Pretty sure that was as clean as I have ever been, if being wet has anything to do with cleanliness. By that time my partner and I were looking at each other with "who would believe it" looks. You know the kind that you either get in a big drama or laugh? Fortunately we just laughed. It was so bad the pro shop let us take our balls out of the trap, mud puddles or whatever you wanted to call them. A person could get spoiled to that. Obviously we were not mudders as we won nothing. I think we came up from last but no winner yet. Still got a few years yet. It was quite entertaining. Yes, I am lying like a dog. We were very happy to see Rhonda out and about. She probably got more hugs those two days than she has had in several months. Love her! She can do

anything. Do tournaments when you feel like covering your head and hiding for a long time. Smile, hug, repeat. Great gal. This month we will be teeing off at eight on Tuesday mornings. This will be great when it gets hot but for now I will have to set an alarm. Yuck. If the rest of the summer is going to be like the last week it will be nice to get off the course earlier. Hope all who wanted to play earlier can put up with me griping for awhile or maybe all summer. It takes me a good long while to wake up to conversation as my family will attest. Looking forward to being able to play more regularly. The monthly meeting will be after play. We can have lunch, visit and enjoy each other. The executive board knew I would probably be a no show at a seven thirty meeting. They love me I just know it. The books showing meetings in the early time of the women's association showed they got together for a get together as much as a meeting. Looking forward to trying this. Come and join. Thanks for being you,

Paul

The oil damaged area has been sodded and we will keep it roped off until late June. We have also sodded other small areas around the course such as old leaks and worn areas. Bermuda sod usually takes a couple weeks to root down and it will look burned up and dried out until it gets new leaf growth. We are starting to get those warm days we need to really get the grass growing. The 3 plus inches of rain in late May helped a great deal. We will start our light topdressing of greens this June. This is when we put a light amount of sand on greens down every 3-4 weeks during growing season. After we broom and water it in you can hardly notice it.

Just a few thoughts on what type of mindset you should have when competing. Remember, tennis and life in general consist of ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you react to these things. One thing successful tennis players have in common is that they don't mind losing. Well, they may mind, but they maintain a healthy perspective. They consider losses to be learning experiences. Failure is part of a process. Mistakes are not bad as long as you don't keep making the same ones. Michael Jordan said it best: "I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 3,300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over again in my life

and that is why I succeed." Keep this in mind the next time you lose a match. Also, our summer camp schedule is out and you can pick up a copy at the main club house (by Stacy's office) or at the tennis pro shop. Assistant Hillary Garbowski is running all of our camps and if you have questions, text or call her at (806) 790-

6087. See ya on the courts soon.
