城市学院目前在校生共 1 万 5 千人左右

城市学院本科每年共招生： 2200人

城市学院专科每年共招生： 1500人

•《希望英语》系列教材在我校已经使用四年时间。在这四年期间，希望英语系列教材以其丰富的内容，新颖的形式，活泼生动的文章，深受老师，学生的喜爱。成为我校专科各专业英语教育中较权威的系列教材。

•同时，《希望英语》系列教材为专科各专业学生通过湖北省英语能力应用等级考试（简称英语三级考试）提供了相当全面，细致的辅导。使我校专科学生三级考试通过率一直处于较高水平。据统计，我校每年英语三级通过率保持在 80%以上（第二，三学期累计），个别专业或班级可达到 90%。

《希望英语》教材使用感受•1.综合教程（学生用书）•1 ）话题时代性，趣味性强，贴近学生生活。例如大学生活（ college life),体育（ sports), 音乐（ music),旅游（ travel)，宠物（ pets)等等。

•2 ）任务型设计•所有的活动围绕任务展开，各种任务通过听，说，阅读，语法，应用文写作让学生习得语言，学生能积极参与，有成就感。

•3 ）教材起点符合学生的水平• 高职学生基础较差，很多学生没有掌握高中阶段的英语知识。该教材的词汇、语法、句子成分，都定位于高中水平，这就使学生的英语基础与教材之间有了有效的衔接，使学生能够学得下去，不会有畏难情绪。

•4 ）活动设计很有启发性，也给老师留下了自由发挥的空间。

•如 role play, presentation, language points 等等。

•2.教师用书•将学生课本、教学指导、教案与答案融为一体，采用与学生用书对照排版的形式，减轻了老师的负担，为教学提供方便。

•3.学习卡•活页形式，为学生提供练习题和学习方法指导。“学习策略卡”有效地指导学生如何学习。

•4.自学光盘、助教光盘•提供丰富资源，满足多媒体教学需求。
