Technical knowledge

I have basic knowledge of using Photoshop, at school in my last year I chose to study film studies as one of my GCSE options. I had to create a magazine cover for a film, we had to choose the genre of the film and we had to create a storyline, I had to take my own photos to use for the magazine cover then edit them using Photoshop.

I have also used Photoshop whilst on this course when I had to create logo for Craven College.

Team working

In my last year at school I chose GCSE Physical education as one of my GCSE options, for part of my final grade we were separated into groups of 5 and had to go orienteering. We had to work as a team navigating around woods with a map and a compass trying to find points.

Also working part time in a pub team work is important as I usually work weekends which is the busiest shifts to work, we have to work as a team as there are many jobs, for example going to fill ice bucket, changing barrels or restocking bottles.

Application of numeracy

I started working as a waitress at the age of 14, Part of my job included taking food and drink orders then charging the customers and then giving them their correct change back. Now I work part time in a pub and have the same responsibility, I take drink orders charge the customers and then give the correct change back.

Also in computational thinking we had to complete a piece of work called “purchasing errors” when simple mathematic skills were used for example multiplication.

Communication and literacy

When working as a waitress I had to make sure I was confident when talking to customers as I had to take orders and be piolet when doing this, I had to write down food orders and then read them back to the customer to check everything was correct.

Business and customer awareness

When working at the Three Horses I had to make sure customers were satisfied with their food and with the service. I knew it was important for the business to receive positive feedback and customers to return to the pub. I also knew that good feedback from customers would result in them talking about the Three Horses to friends and family which could promote business for the pub.

Leadership and organisation

I have previously mentioned orienteering on a slide but this showed my leadership skills as I took charge and I read the map, Whilst reading the map I had to direct my team in the right direction to find the points.

I am also organised as I meet deadlines in college for my assignments. When I had my first job which was at the Three Horses working as a waitress I also showed organisations skills.
