1 BLUE CROSS BLUE CROSS Vol. 20 No. 3 May – June 2015 HOUSE JOURNAL OF BLUE CROSS LABORATORIES PVT LTD. Looking Back, Looking Forward… a Journey of 25 Years The journey since 1990 has been really fascinating. Looking back at the journey since 1990 we can clearly recall the baby steps as well as the giant leaps that Blue Cross took as we surged ahead adopting the best and the latest in technology and systems in order to adapt better and stay ahead of competition. Implementing SAP, the world’s best ERP system, way back in 2001, upgrading it in 2007 and extending it to all our major functions and operations in 2010 was one such initiative. Another was the well-considered decision to start the BCL generic division. It was not just a part of our business strategy, but was also meant to fulfill our social commitment towards providing quality medicines at the lowest possible prices to the institutions, hospitals and individuals who need them the most. I am sure we can look at similar projects in the future also. The most heartening part of the journey has been the team spirit displayed by all of you at every crucial juncture when such spirit was needed the most. Our shared commitment to our mission to ‘Initiate efforts to provide world class products for markets that deliver value to customers, satisfy unmet medical needs, improve patients’ lives and offer a uniform quality product at affordable cost to all human beings’ has been visible till date. But it was amply demonstrated when both our Goa Plant and Nasik Plant were ISO 9001-2008 certified by SUV-SUD. Though the last 25 years of Blue Cross have been extremely eventful and fulfilling, I look forward to the future with a lot of excitement and optimism, as the years ahead are going to be full of opportunities, such as we have never seen before. However, as we all know, wherever there are new opportunities there will be new challenges too. But the one thing I am very confident about is - The Blue Cross Team has the resolve and the spirit to meet and overcome every challenge and scale newer and newer heights! Good Luck for the next 25 years! Manoj Israni, Managing Director D r. David Day, President and Ms. Carolyn Zhang, Vice President, M/s Ningbo Smart Pharma Co. Ltd., China, a major supplier of Mefenamic Acid which is the main ingredient in our product ‘Meftal’ were warmly welcomed at Blue Cross during their recent trip to India. They visited the Goa Plant on April 9, 2015, where they were taken on a tour of the facility and planted a Christmas tree in the plant premises. Looking Back, Looking Forward… a Journey of 25 Years The journey since 1990 has been really fascinating. Looking back at the journey since 1990 we can clearly recall the baby steps as well as the giant leaps that Blue

Cross took as we surged ahead adopting the best and the latest in technology and systems in order to adapt better and stay ahead of competition. Implementing SAP, the world’s best ERP system, way back in

2001, upgrading it in 2007 and extending it to all our major functions and operations in 2010 was one such initiative.

Our shared commitment to our mission to ‘Initiate efforts to provide world class products for markets that

deliver value to customers, satisfy unmet medical needs, improve patients’ lives and offer a uniform quality product at affordable cost to all human beings’ has been

visible till date.

Mr. Haresh Sheth, Sr. GM – Purchasing, visited China, from June 20-27, 2015, to meet the team at M/s Ningbo

Smart Pharma Co. Ltd. This company supplies Mefenamic Acid to Blue Cross Labs and has vast experience of over 15 years in manufacturing this product, producing around 800 MT per year. Their plant is GMP approved with state-of-art facilities.

Mr. Sheth also visited the huge Pharmaceutical Exhibition of APIs, chemicals and intermediates that was held in Shanghai. Over 2500 exhibitors from China as well as other countries worldwide participated in this exhibition, which was visited by manufacturers and visitors from around the world.

The participation from India, including that of Blue Cross Laboratories, was very prominent and gained an encouraging response. The tour was very successful with regard to developing alternate vendors for Mefenamic Acid and new molecules, as well as for making new contacts and looking at new developments for the growth of the company.
