A&!e Our company also produces segmenled welded fittings of PE pipe (for water andgas: elbow, tee, cross, ... granted with a pression reduction factor of 0,6) ranging from O 90-O 630 mm, respectively pipes with segmenteC PE walls (double layers: smooth inside,

structural profile outside) for drainage-seweragr: without pression and protection of electric

cables and telecommunications, outer nominal cLimensions O40 + ?250 mm ( in bars and/orcoils according to catalogue).

Basic chemical content and information on the components

History: in 1867 the French chemist Mzrcellin BERTIIELOT made the first s;mthesis ofethylene, in 1933 the polyetylene was discorrered and in 2000 13 million tons of pipe weremade for polyetylene networks.Chemical name ofthe raw material: polyetylenLe of medium and/or high density.

Chemical formula ofpolyetylene: (C2H4)x and/or [-CHr-]n. The granule used is an olefinpolymer according to the Euopean law (obta.ined by ethylene polymerization which containsadditives: antioxidants and stabilizers 0,7% maximum and pigments from 0 to 8%). CElabelling: it is not classified according to the directives 67/584/CEE (dangerous substances) noraccording to the directives 1999/45lCE (dangerous preparations). The granule and PE products are a polymer according to the European law, that is why theyhaven't been registered in the inventory EINECS/IESCE (European Inventory of ExistingCommercial Chemical Substances).

r ToxicologicalinformationDeep toxicity: polyolefins are inert from a biological point ofview.Swallowing: taking into consideration its content, the product can be considered

practically unnoxious.Inhalation: the powder from granules or mechanical processing of pipes during use,

storing and hansport can lead to the irritation of breathing ways, also the products of thermicdecomposition at high temperature could be initaling.

o Physical and chemical propertiesOut of PE granules (solid circular form, diameter ranging from 2 to 5 mm) through

extrusion we obtain pipes; the colour of the pipes is black with blue stripes (for water) oryellow-orar.tge (for gas). The products are rendered agreeable and have the authorization ofCTPC, and the conformity ofpipes is certified by CERTIND S.A.. The production ofpipes canbe made according to EN, ISO, DIN, SR-ISO, I,DJI norms or at the customer's demand andfollowing cefiain specifications (for exarnple: Gas - Specification 250-2000,telecommunication Specification ST-8-1, RTC 133, ...).

For the above delivered products we estimate a 50-year lifetime if the conditions ofstoring, installing and exploiting according to specific norms are respected. The producer is notliable for the transport of pipes with improper: means, for bad handling, storing and installing, ensuring a 2 years guaxantee from the production date. According to NFT 54-063 for pipelengths measured at 20" C + 50 C a tolerance of _l 3% is allowed for lengths inferior to 500 mand one ofl i,5% is allowed for lengths equal or superior to 500 m.

F.T.S.; Ed.3/rev.7 Pag.2 di 7 pag.

Usual technical specificalion: nominal prressure (PN), SDR (standard dimension ratio,

SDR=D"/e") unde D' = extemal nominal diameter of the pipe and e. = nominal thickress of the

pipe wall, S: series ofthe pipe, S: (SDR-l) / 2; lPE80, PE63, PE100 (type ofpolyethylene: 80,

MOP - 20MRS / C(SDR-1) expressed in bar, ,cverall seruice (design) coefficient of safety

factor (C), C )1,25 for wather; C 22 for gas.

The testing pressure for water buried nertworks is usually 1,5 tines the nominal pressure

or the pressure indicated by the designer in the task book (pressure measured at the lowest pointof the network) respecting the demands in the project, the Indicatives GP-043199, NP-084-03,the Checking, the test of resistance and tightness for gas networks shall be made according tothe Indicative I6/PE/2000 and/or the curent TIICI IICAL NORMS.

The calculus ofthennic dilation ofpipesr is givenby: AL: c .L'AT, where : AL= lenghtvariation, L = lengllt tube, AT : coefficient c,f thenr.ral linear dilation of PE usual : 1,8x10'4.

The vallor of coefficient of thermal linear of IIE (expansion/contraction) o = 0,13 0,24mm/m/"C, and for circumferential expansion the vallor is half, this vallor depends of type PE(PEMD; PEHD), variation of temperature in time. This phenomenon of expansion/contraction

due to difference of temperature AT for a buried pipe induces in the transverse section S of thepipe a longitudinal stress o, which transforms into a longitudinal sffength,,F" which acts like a

force in a fixed point: o=E crAT , F=oS=EotATS.Roughness of the pipe wall, K Rugozitate tevii PIl, K : coeficient de rugozitate de la interiorul

The design ancl execution of polyetylene .installations shall be done so as to meet the

quality demands according to the Law 10/1995 regarding the quality in constructions. The user is warned against the eventual lisks which may come out in the case ofusing the

product for other purposes than the one designed (techr.rically agreed / authorized, certified)being at one's own risk and according to regu.lations and nonns in force and the designer wilitake additional safety mesures. The pipes and/or PE comrgates tubes do not present any danger:

non-toxic, recyclable, and they don't distroy the ozone layer.

2. Identification of dangers

The symptoms related to use/inhalation: the fine powder from granules or PE pipe can

cause an irritation ofthe breathing system and the mucous membranes, heated over 235" C they

can emit vapours ald initating fumes for the breathing system.

Skin contact: the contact with warm products may cause serious bums.Swallowing: polyolefins are inerl from a. biological point of view.Negative effects for the environment: trLkirlg into consideration its structure, the product

should not be dangerous for aquatic organisms and it is unbiodegradable.

At moderate temperatures, aromatic and halogenated hydrocarbons may have a physicalinfluence, such as swelling, and at increase temp3rature softening of under extreme conditionsdissolvind may occur.

Physicai and chemical negative effects: it is combustible if it is exposed to flames, thefrictions due to the movement of the product produce static electricity, as a consequent smalldischarges may appear and the pipes are desigred to be buried.

Conditions to be avoided: avoid ccntact with powerful oxidants and the fluor, respectively the closeness to fire or sparks and allso avoid heating at a temperature superior to300" c.

As for gas i1 is forbidden: the apparent installation of polyethylene pipes, the installationof polyethylene pipes in soils saturated with oil products or agressive solvents as well as thecirculation ofnatural gas which contain condensalion through polyethylene pipes.

It is forbidden to use PE pipes and fittings for water: in intemal installations for wateralimentation and sewarage installations of used rvater with temperatures higher than 40" C, inintemai water installations for putting up a separat:e or common fire, in outdoor installations andin buildings with high risks of fire.

The user is warned against the eventual risks which may come out in the case ofusing theproduct for other pulposes than the one design:d (rendered agreeable / authorized, certified) andrespecting the rules and specific effective la,ars and the designer must applied a suplimentarcoeffrcient of safety for installation. For sample::for combustible gas alimentation networks thedemands ofthe standard SR 3317:2003 shall tre met, for water, sewarage, industrial applicationnetworks the demands of the Indicative 122-99. ISO 15494 shall be met and other effectiveTechnical Norms.

3. First aid measures

Exposure meansInhalation: exposure to aerosol, fumes and vapcrur ofthe heated or bumed product:

- ask for the doctor's advice ifthe s) mploms. persist:- cool immediately the bumed pads with cold u ater (by immersion or melting);- the bumed body part is in danger of beir,g 6ru11ed; usually it comes off alone after a few

days.Obs. The provisions concerning the protection, safety and work hygiene shall be respected

during al1 the steps of designing and execution ofpolyethylene installations.

4, Fire preventing mreasures

Inflammability class: A, solid material combustions, mainly organic which bum withincandescence,

Technical measures: interrupt the fire alimentation; call immediately the firedepafiment; ge1 out the people involved.

Put up measures: in case of small fires w,: can use carbon dioxide (CO:), dry powders,

water; in case of big fire we can use foam and sipraying water in the form of fog to cool thesurfaces exposed to flames.

Specific dangers: in case of complete combustion, in the presence of too much aircarbon dioxide (COr) and water vapours are forming; and in case of incomplete conbustioncarbon monoxide (CO), soot and cracking products are forming: aldehydes, cetones,

hydrocarbon and volatile fat acids.

Ifthe product is accidentally spread on,"vabr it is a floting product and the water surfacewill clear by collecting with mechanical mean:r.

The protection for the emergency team: an adequate breathing device if there is danger toexpose Io vapours or ]umes.

Reaction class at fire for PEHD is D.

Q!4= The norms and legal rules related to preventing and putting up fires as well as the specificrules of safety to fire (for example: C300 Norm) shall be respected during all steps of designand execution of polyethylene installations.

5. Handlins and storing

The handling ofPE pipes shall be carefully do.ne, respecting at least the following:. the use ofmetallic cables or chains isr not allowed for tying and handling the pipes;o the deterioration ihrough handling o1'the pipes by: scratching, pricking, making holes or

erposing to fire .hall be avoided:

F.T.S.; Ed.3/ret7

. shocks and frictions during handling shall be avoided, so as the handling devices shallhave the parts ol contact with the pipe protected by wood or polyethylene;o in order not to deter iorate the pipes during the handling it is recommended to use:

polypropylene girths, ropes or textile bands ( width minimum 100 mm);o pipes delivered in packs are stored in piles on special devices of 80x80x2600 mm,with three or four packs on one device, the storing height ofwhich is 2,50 m;o the pipes with the diameter higher than 110 mm are aranged in piles with themaximum heigl.rt of 1,5 m.

Il because of the handling of PE pipes or fittings there are surface shortcomings higherthan 10% ofthe wall thickness, these parts will be elirninated (according to pr. EN 12007).

ARRANGEMENT OF PIPES

It is done according to the indications from the respective project, thus a conectan'angement ofthe pipe allows us to obtain the best results in exploitation;

The anangement is different according to tlle way of delivery and conditioning ofpipes, thus for:o pipes in coils or metallic drums the unrolling can be done without mechanical effot by

advancing the drum along the trench dug or by pulling where the drum is fixed; here we haveto take into account the admitted traction force which must not exceed the value in the

relation. F= (14.rd.'?) / 3SDR [NJ;. the pipes will be joined (by qualified welders) and will be checked according to the nonns,

technical prescriptions and authorized plocedures in the field (for example: DVS...)compulsory respecting the cooling time after thr: welding, before any corect handling.

. the ffench dimensions (q charge - Rottner lv4ethod), the way of anangement ofthe pipe, the

distance between the supporting points Lh=3,17(JqAq/e)12, the charge on the ftxed point(liniar dilation A=KLcrAt, thermic dilation e.=aAT, intemal pression), the crossings, thefilling quality, the cover in layers and the pipe protection shall respect the specifications inthe project, respectively the norms for design arrd execution of polyethylene pipe networks.

6, Storine:

. the pipes must be aranged on sfiaight srurfaces without deep bumps, sharp or hardobjects, rocks or prominent parts which cou.ld deform them, and to avoid the pipe ovalizationin piles it is best not to exceed a 1.500 mm heip;ht.. the stodng duration must not exceed l1 yerars, and their outdoor protection against theweather and solar radiations shall be done by uling black polyethylene foil;. the contact of pipes with chemical pr,oducts with agressive effect (for sample: liquidhydrocarbon) shall be avoided;o when storing indoor the granule, the fittings and/or the PE pipes there must be a goodventilation of the room, and in case of their welding and/or processing the equipment musthave the electric connection with the grouncl.

The user must Lnow, respect and apply the lawful, effective and administrative demands

regarding the workers', population's and environment's protection dudng the handling, storingand amansement ofthe oroducts we deliver.
