02.14.20 “Have enough courage to trust love one more time and always one more time.” - Maya Angelou Dear AHS Families, While the students were home today, our teachers were working...and if only you could have witnessed the work - they truly “WOWED” me today! I’m not sure if you know this, but the staff at Anderson High School actually really likes each other. And I share this with you because I believe that this makes a significant impact on how they interact with our kids each day. When the adults in a school can truly say that they care about one another, they enjoy each other’s company, and they value one another as individuals, it’s no small thing. Sounds simplistic, right? While it may seem simple, sadly, it’s not common. I’ve worked in a number of different organizations in education, but none have been quite like Anderson High School. There is a positive vibe walking through the halls and sitting in the classrooms here and I believe much of it starts with the trust that adults in the building have for one another that then permeates throughout the student population. I often hear from students that, among other things, they enjoy Anderson because they feel valued as an individual by so many of the adults around them. This does not happen randomly; it happens in large part because the teachers, themselves, feel valued and encouraged by one another in their common goal to help all students succeed. It’s a pretty cool thing to be part of. Make no mistake - we are far from perfect. But this I hold true - we WANT to be better. Trust us! Have a GREAT weekend! Rob P.S. “Break a leg” to the Cast & Crew of The Crucible performing this weekend in Titus Auditorium! Performances Friday/Saturday night at 7 pm and Sunday at 2 pm!! P.P.S. Due to a technical error, some names were inadvertently left off of the Quarter 2 Honor Roll list. We sincerely apologize. Please review the corrected list HERE. We make every effort to recognize all students for their academic accomplishments and congratulate these students for their hard work and effort. UPCOMING SCHOOL EVENTS: Note: This is not even CLOSE to an exhaustive list, but an attempt to provide parents with major, school-related upcoming events. Thanks! 2/17 - President’s Day, No School 2/18 - Deadline for submitting online course requests for 2020-2021 (see Scheduling Information below) 2/19 - ACT Math Test Prep, 3-4:30 in Room 210 - FREE and open to all students interested in test prep skills for Math.
