Educations
BEng (Hons) in Electronic and Communications Engineering, from UNL University, London, UK.
PhD in Digital Signal Processing, Specialization in Speech Processing and Automatic Speech Recognition, from Brunel University, London, UK.
Area of Research
Speech Processing
Automatic Speech Recognition
Speech Enhancement
Noise Reduction
Echo Cancelation
Accent morphing
Applications of Speech Processing
Automatic Speech Recognition: Automated customer service and voice-control of cars and machines to continuous speech recognition as in auto-dictation or broadcast-news transcription.
Speech Enhancement: Speech enhancement in noisy environments, such as in streets, cars, trains, aircrafts, and noisy public venues, improves the quality and intelligibility of speech and reduces communication fatigue.
Noise Reduction: Noise reduction benefits a wide range of applications such as mobile phones, hands-free phones, teleconferencing, in-car cabin communication, hearing aids, automated voice services based on speech recognition and synthesis, forensics and reconstruction of old archived records.
Applications of Speech Processing
Echo Cancelation: Echo cancellation is an important aspect of the design of modern telecommunication systems such as conventional wire-line telephones, hands-free phones, cellular mobile (wireless) phones, teleconference systems and in-car cabin communication systems.
Accent morphing : That is the changing of the original accent of a recorded voice to a different accent, has several applications including in text to speech synthesis (TTS), in changing the accent of the voice of a character in a film or play, in computer toys/games or in multimedia systems.
