Poseidon

INTRODUCTION

Poseidon, Most commonly referred as The God of the Sea, was also the god of earthquakes and horses. Poseidon was brother to Zeus and Hades. These three gods divided up the world . Zeus was ruler of the sky, Hades was the ruler of the Underworld and Poseidon was given all water, both fresh and salt.

POSEIDON’S PERSONALITY

Poseidon was a moody god His temper sometimes caused violence. When he was angry or in a bad mood he would flood cities or cause droughts. When he was in a good mood he would create new islands.

Poseidon’s looks

Poseidon looked very similar to Zeus, though he was thought to be more dark, and evil than him. Poseidon had a grey hair and beard. He is often shown wearing the colour blue.

Poseidon’s Weapon

Poseidon’s weapon is a trident and was made by Cyclopes. A trident is a three pronged spear used for fishing.

Since the Olympians agreed that earth would be ruled together, with Zeus as king, this led to many territorial fights between gods.

Poseidon fought with Athena to be the Patriot God of Athens.

Poseidon showed his power and strength by striking the Acropolis with his trident, causing a salt water spring to appear.

But, Athena planted an olive tree which was found more useful then Poseidon’s salt water spring.

Athena had won the contest. Her importance to the people of Athens is seen in her temple the Parthenon.

After Poseidon lost the contest, he flooded the city of Athens until his anger cooled.

A great story consists of 5 things:1. The Setting2. The Problem3. The Ascension 4. The Climax5. The ResolutionThese thing make the story Exciting, making the listener, reader, or viewer want to hear/read/see more.

What do these stories teach us about human nature?

They teach us that everybody has faults, Different people have different faults.

What do these stories teach us about the meaning of

life?

They teach us that we need to overcome what ever faults we have in order to succeed.
