- POST-DOC POSITION - VALUE CODING AND VALUE-BASED DECISIONS We are seeking for a postdoctoral neuroscientist to investigate how value is encoded in the fly brain and how it influences value-based decisions. This project involves using physiological (calcium imaging) and behavioural experiments in the fruit fly Drosophila as part of a scientific programme funded by the ATIP-Avenir program and the Bettencourt-Shueller Foundation. Candidates should hold a PhD in neuroscience and demonstrate expertise in the field of animal behaviour and/or in vivo physiology. A plus will be an expertise in fly genetics and in programming (Python, R or MATLAB) for data analysis of in vivo physiology experiments. Candidates must be curious, creative and able to work both independently and within a team. The postholder will be part of the Perisse lab based in the Department of Neuroscience at the Institute for Functional Genomics at the University of Montpellier in the south of France. This multidisciplinary research Institute offers a dynamic and international environment with multiple opportunities for collaborations, seminars and workshops (https://www.igf.cnrs.fr/index.php/en/ and https://perisselab.wordpress.com). The lab uses a multi-level approach combining the powerful genetic toolkit available in Drosophila with molecular biology, optogenetic, behaviour and in vivo 2-photon calcium imaging techniques in behaving flies to elucidate the neural mechanisms underlying value learning and value-based decisions. This is a full-time, fixed-term post from June 15 th 2018 to the June 15 th 2020 (dates are flexible). The candidate is also encouraged to apply for national, European and/or international funding. A CV and 2 referee contact information should be sent to Dr Emmanuel Perisse ([email protected]) before the closing date on Wednesday 10 th of February 2018. Interviews over Skype on the 12 th -13 th of February 2018.
