Radius­Service is a leading Russian supplier of rental jars and maintenance services.

Since 2004 Radius­Service supplies and rents drilling and fishing jars produced in collaboration with the Canadian companyWenzel Downhole Tools Ltd.

Skilled personnel and all the required machinery and equipment enable «Radius­Service» to repair jars of variousconfigurations and from any manufacturers.

Jars are designed to free a drill tool stuck in a wellbore. Releasing a drill tool is done by applying an intensified forceagainst the stuck point.

Jars may be run for:

• directional drilling;

• horizontal drilling;

• fishing operations;

• well workover and reconditioning.

Jars, supplied by Radius­Service, have a rugged design to withstand long runs and release complicated sticking. Thereis relevant evidence that jars were run continuously for 48 hours in the space of which they produced over 600 impacts

The jar ID allows logging tools to pass through.

A splined connection allows torque to be transmitted during the rotary drilling.

Max allowable bottomhole temperature is 135°С. Once sealing elements (rings and wiper seals) are replaced with heat­resistant seals, jars may be used at bottomhole temperature up to 230°С.

Jars are successfully run by the following Russian and foreign service companies: BK Eurasia, TekhnoBurServis, PetroAlliance,Schlumberger, Halliburton and others.

Radius­Service jars vary depending on:

1. the application

• drilling jar: connected to the drill tool and in case of sticking the jar is momentarily available for jarring againstthe stuck point;

• fishing jar: used to release the stuck drill tool and incorporated as a part of the fishing assembly.

2. the direction of action

• single acting (only upward) — designated by numeral «1» or without figures;

• double acting (up and down) — designated by numeral «2».

3. the operating principle

• hydraulic mechanical — designated by letters «HM»;

• hydraulic — designated by letters «H» or «FH».

4.the design

• right­hand;

• left­hand — designated by letters «LH».

Types of jars provided by Radius­Service

Hydraulic mechanical single and double acting drilling jars

A single acting jar is designed to strike upward.

A double acting jar is designed to strike both upward and downward.

A hydraulic mechanical jar combines the features of both hydraulic and mechanical jars and incorporates the followingsections:

The mechanical section comprises a latch mechanism with a set of Bellville springs that prevents the jar from unexpectedfiring during normal drilling and tripping operations. Latch settings may be customized within the specified range of latchrelease forces.

The hydraulic section incorporates a metering valve and allows an operator to control the impact intensity by adjusting thedrill string tension during the hydraulic delay.

The distinctive feature of these jars is the absence of the mechanical section (a latch mechanism with a set of springs) that

makes it possible to run the jars in deviated wells where it would be hard to apply and adjust the overpull to relatch the jar.

The hydraulic section comprises two metering valves that enable jarring against the stuck point in both directions (up anddown).

Hydraulic fishing single and double acting jars

A single acting jar is designed to jar up. Left­ and right­hand jars are available.

A double acting jar is designed to jar both up and down. Left­hand jars are available.

A fishing jar consists of a hydraulic and a splined section isolated by a set of wear resistant seals.

The hydraulic section allows an operator to control the up jarring force by adjusting the drill string tension, and down jarringforce — by adjusting the compression force acting on the jar during the slack of weight.
