After School Crazy Eights Math Club:

Math & Mischief at your Library! Come after school for some fun math experiences. We will follow a program distributed by

Bedtime Math and in the process we’ll be part of a study about making math fun at

Johns Hopkins University. A parent is asked to fill out a short questionnaire before and after the class. This is not a requirement, but it will be fun to be part of a big study.

Barney Halloween Event: Mad Science Spook-tacular! Join Mad Science of Western New England for a Halloween Spook-tacular science show.

The program will include bubbling potions, haunted graveyard effects, ghost’s glowing goo, puff the magic dragon’s breath, and more!

Children will be intro-duced to a different letter of the alphabet each week through stories, music, and a craft. For ages 3 to 5. Register. October Special Events Sleep Issues with Infants and Toddlers This workshop is for parents having trouble getting their baby or toddler on a nighttime and naptime sleep pattern that they can live with. A presenter from The Parent and Child Center of Bristol Hospital will discuss how much sleep children typically need at each age, how to establish healthy bedtime routines, how reaching new developmental stages may impact a child’s current sleep pattern, and how to gen-tly and lovingly help your child learn to sleep through the night, without requiring them to simply “cry it out.” This program is made possible through funding from the Farmington Exchange Club. To facilitate participation of parents of infants and toddlers, Small Talk and Wonderful Ones will not meet on October 9. Register. Election Day, November 4 Be a Robot, 10:30 Use your imagination and our materials to create your own one-of-a-kind robot costume. For children ages 4—7. Register. Let’s Vote! (all day) Come to the children’s room and exercise your right to vote. You will be casting your ballot for your favorite book character. All ages. Christina the Magician, 3:00 Families are invited to an awesome magic show. Register.

Potty Training Boot Camp Parents of toddlers are invited to a potty training boot camp led by a presenter from The Parent and Child Center of Bristol Hospital. Are you ready to ditch the diapers? Learn how to make the transition from diapers to the potty chair fun and easy for both parent and child. This program is made possible through funding from the Farmington Exchange Club. Register. Veteran’s Day, November 11 Shhhh! Bear’s Sleeping, 10:00 Find out why bears sleep through the winter. Enjoy stories, rhymes, a short movie, and an art activity. For children ages 3—5. Register. September Special Events Fairy House Workshop Architecture, engineering and art meet to create fairy/gnome houses to be displayed at the 5th annual Nature’s Open House tour at Winding Trails. We will meet at the Library to build and then bring our creations to Winding Trails for installation. Bring natural items like pinecones, acorns, sticks, and twigs to the first meeting.
