EADI - the European Association of Development Research and Trai-ning Institutes - is a European-wide network of institutes, researchersand students of various disciplines in the field of development studies.EADI offers facilities for the international exchange of knowledge andexperiences in the professional field. The association was founded in1975 and is an independent and non-profit making international non-governmental organisation. Its Secretariat is based in Bonn, Germany.

EADI's objectives are:• To generate and stimulate exchange of information among

European scientists and researchers concerned withdevelopment issues,

• To promote interdisciplinary studies on specific themes,• To develop contacts with researchers from other regions of

the world.

Members take part in thematic working groups which organise conferences,seminars, research projects and publish their results in the EADI BookSeries and the EADI Newsletter. Twice yearly, EADI publishes its academicjournal, the EJDR - The European Journal of Development Research. Itsmost prominent activity is a General Conference devoted to a topicaltheme every three years. EADI is part of ICCDA - Interregional CoordinatingCommittee of Development Associations and an active partner of CIC -Centre for International Cooperation Bonn.

L'EADIfacilite l'échange international de connaissances et d'expériencesau niveau professionnel. If you are like me, you don't read Annual Reports.

So why read this one? Three reasons:

EADI is more than meets the occasional eye: did you know that theAssociation had over a dozen sponsors for its General Conference andthat most of them came from a relatively poor “accession country”?

EADI did in September 2002 what others did later: organise an interna-tional meeting about the implications of enlargement for developmentco-operation. Is that significant? Yes, especially if one realises that Centraland Eastern European researchers have done fascinating research aboutwhat used to be called “transition”. There is a need to take stock - EADIdid so in Ljubljana.

EADI's quality is determined through the quality of its working groups.In 2001 and 2002 a reorganisation took place, which was fortunate forsome, painful to others. Take a look at the width of scope of the workinggroups, which are presently operating.

So: do take a look at your Association if you are a member. If you arenot, consider becoming a member: it is worth it. We are the only pan-European Association dealing exclusively with development, transitionand international co-operation issues.

Alors, pourquoi lire celui-ci? Pour trois raisons:

L'EADI est plus qu'il n'apparaît au premier regard: saviez-vous quel'Association avait rassemblé plus d'une douzaine de sponsors pour saConférence générale et que la plupart d'entre eux provenait d'un “payscandidat” relativement pauvre?

EADI réalisa en septembre 2002 ce que d'autres firent plus tard: organiserune rencontre internationale sur les implications de l'élargissement pourla coopération en faveur du développement. Cela est-il important? Oui,en particulier si l'on se rend compte que les chercheurs d'Europe centraleet orientale ont fait des recherches fascinantes sur ce que l'on avaitcoutume d'appeler la “transition”. Il y a un vrai besoin de faire un inventaire -l'EADI l'a fait à Ljubljana.

La qualité de l'EADI est déterminée par la qualité de ses groupes detravail. Une réorganisation a eu lieu en 2001 et 2002, de bonne augurepour certains, douloureuse pour d'autres. Regardez le large éventaildes groupes de travail qui sont opérationnels à l'heure actuelle.

The efficient delivery and further development of services to the Association,its leadership and members were one of the main tasks of the year2002 for the EADI Secretariat. The preparation of and follow-up to the10th General Conference and the General Assembly, the meetings ofthe Executive Committee in Barcelona (April 2002), Ljubljana (Septem-ber 2002) and Maastricht (November 2002), the publication of the EADINewsletter and e-newsletter, the promotional flyer in French and English,and EADI's state-of-the-art Web presence can be listed among thosecore activities that required our full attention during the past year.

2002 was a special year in many ways: It was the year of the 10th Gene-ral Conference of EADI in Ljubljana, and the preparation and follow-upof this event was one of our main tasks. The Conference was not onlyimportant for us from the thematic viewpoint of EU Enlargement andthe impact on the Developing World, but also to strengthen workingrelations with researchers and research institutes in Central and EasternEurope. EADI has worked since its foundation in close collaborationwith institutes from Central and Eastern Europe, and this conferencewas the logical consequence of our past. The host of the conference,

the Institute for Economic Research (IER) in Ljubljana put great effortsinto exploring funds for the Conference, and in organising the event.We would like to emphasise the good collaboration between the Secretariatand the IER team, and we want to express our thanks to everybodyinvolved in organising the Conference. The contributions and reports ofthe conference can be visited at our website, and Proceedings will bepublished in book form in 2003.

The other highlight of the year definitely was the General Assembly,which takes place every three years. A new Executive Committee (2002- 2005) was elected. Sheila Page, President for the years 1999 - 2002stepped down, and Louk de la Rive Box was elected to lead the Associationin the coming years. He presented his vision of EADI as the qualityforum in Europe for research on global development, transformationand guided change issues.

EADI, being an established, European association of professionals, canrely on a stable membership base. We have put our efforts into enhancingthe value of being a member of EADI by putting the “Quality first!”

Des moyens efficaces et l'accroissement supplémentaire des servicesen faveur de l'Association, de sa direction et de ses membres, tellesétaient certaines tâches principales de l'année 2002 pour le Secrétariatde l'EADI. La préparation et le suivi de la dixième Conférence généraleet de l'Assemblée générale, les réunions du Comité exécutif à Barcelone(avril 2002), Ljubljana (septembre 2002) et Maastricht (novembre 2002),la publication de la lettre d'information de l'EADI et de la lettre électronique,le dépliant promotionnel en français et en anglais, ainsi qu'une présencede l'EADI sur internet selon les règles de l'art, sont à nommer sur la listedes activités essentielles ayant requis notre entière attention durant l'annéeécoulée.

2002 aura été une année particulière à plusieurs égards: ce fut l'annéede la dixième Conférence générale de Ljubljana, et la préparation et lesuivi de cet événement furent une de nos tâches principales. La conférencene fut pas seulement importante pour nous du point de vue thématiquede l'élargissement de l'UE et de son impact sur le monde en voie dedéveloppement, mais aussi parce- qu'elle nous a permis de renforcerles relations de travail avec les chercheurs et instituts de recherche d'Europecentrale et orientale. Depuis sa fondation, l'EADI a travaillé en étroite

collaboration avec des instituts d'Europe centrale et orientale, et cetteconférence fut la conséquence logique de notre passé. L'hôte de laconférence, l'Institut de Recherche Economique (IER) de Ljubljana a faitde gros efforts pour trouver des fonds pour la conférence, ainsi quepour organiser l'événement. Nous tenons à mettre l'accent sur la bonnecoopération entre le secrétariat et l'équipe de l'IER, et à remercier tousceux qui ont participé à l'organisation de la conférence. L'EADI,étant une association de professionnels européenne bien établie, peutse fonder sur une base d'adhérents stable. label on our activities, especially for the EADI Working Groups, whocontributed mainly to the General Conference this year with papers,working group sessions, and special sessions. But given the changes inthe landscape of development research institutes and new requirements,we have to strengthen our efforts to build networks and create newalliances. The starting point was a meeting of heads of institutes at theoccasion of the General Conference to identify needs and first stepstowards closer collaboration.

Due to the move from Geneva to Bonn in 2000, some existing relationshave been intensified. With Brussels nearby, the links to colleagues inother European networks and, of course, in the EC, notably in theDirectorates for Development and Research, but also External Relations,were frequent and thought-provoking. Another centre of regular workingcontacts is Maastricht. With our members ECDPM, EUFORIC, UNU/INTECHand the University there, EADI has been able to enter into various jointventures, thus enhancing the impact of our work.

We also have to gratefully acknowledge the support from our hostinstitutions here in Bonn under the co-ordinating and stimulating leadershipof our EADI Vice-president, Dr Jürgen Wiemann of DIE/GDI. The financialsupport from the German government, through the BMZ, the state ofNorth-Rhine Westphalia and the federal city of Bonn, have greatly facilitatedthe work of EADI in Bonn. In addition, NORAD, Norway, has remaineda loyal supporter of our Association by enabling us to continue distributingour prime publication, the European Journal of Development Research(EJDR) to partner institutes, students and researchers in the South throughthe member associations of ICCDA, the Inter-Regional Co-ordinatingCouncil of Development Associations. Last but not least we have tothank all the sponsors who made our 10th General Conference possible.Nevertheless, our efforts to identify new sources of funding for our coreactivities will be a top priority in the coming year.

Avec Bruxelles tout près, les liensavec les collègues d'autres réseaux européens et, bien- sûr, au niveaude la CE, particulièrement au sein de la DG développement et recherche,mais aussi de celle des relations extérieures, furent fréquents et stimulants.Un autre centre de contacts de travail réguliers se situe à Maastricht.Grâce à nos membres ECDPM, EUFORIC, UNU/INTECH et l'universitélocale, l'EADI a pu entamer plusieurs joint-ventures, améliorant ainsil'impact de notre travail.

Nous devons aussi rendre hommage au soutien de nos institutions hôtes

ici à Bonn, sous la direction coordinatrice et stimulante de notre vice-président de l'EADI, le Dr. Jürgen Wiemann de la DIE/GDI. Le soutienfinancier du gouvernement Allemand, à travers le Ministère fédéral dela coopération économique et du développement (BMZ), du Land deRhénanie-du-Nord-Westphalie et de la ville fédérale de Bonn ontgrandement facilité le travail de l'EADI à Bonn. The EADI Executive Committee met three times during the past year: InApril 2002, Fundacío CIDOB hosted the meeting in Barcelona. A meetingof the newly elected Executive Committee took place in September 2002during the General Conference of EADI in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Again, inNovember 2002, the Executive Committee met in Maastricht, TheNetherlands, hosted by the University of Maastricht and the UNU/INTECH.

The meeting in Barcelona was preceded by an EADI seminar. The meetingin Maastricht was combined with a special session of the Sub-committeeon Training and Education in order to prepare for an EADI SummerSchool scheduled for September 2003.

The Executive Committee meeting in April was dominated by the progressreport of the Secretariat given by the Executive Secretary. The 2001 finalaccounts with the Auditors' Report were accepted and the 2002 budgetwas approved. The actions of the Secretariat were collectively approved.

The publication policy was discussed and recommendations on the EJDRwere made on the basis of an assessment report. Philippe Cadène, Gemdev,volunteered as French-speaking editor of the Journal. The preparationand budget for the 10th EADI General Conference, 19-21 September2002 in Ljubljana, Slovenia were discussed. The status of the EADI WorkingGroups at the General Conference was formalised.

Following the General Assembly the newly elected Executive Committeeconvened for a short meeting. Louk de la Rive Box had been electedunanimously as president; he introduced the three vice-presidents whowould be working with him: Isa Baud (The Netherlands), Henning Melber(Sweden) and Jürgen Wiemann (Germany) as Deputy President. Aftera tour de table during which other participants introduced themselves,the co-opted members: Chris Addison (Maastricht), Colm Foy (Paris),Michel Carton (Geneva), Christian Lund (Roskilde, editor of EJDR), (PhilippeCadène, editor of EJDR), Paul Engel (Maastricht) and Maura Viezzoli(Rome) were welcomed.

This meeting was hosted by the United Nations University Institute forNew Technologies and the University of Maastricht.

New Sub-committees were established and used this first meeting todefine their role and work programme.

Sub-committee on Knowledge Management and PublicationsIsa Baud chairs this Sub-committee. Information was given on a meetingwith Frank Cass Publishers. The publication policy of the Associationand especially the publication of the proceedings of the General Conferencewas discussed.

Sub-committee on Working groupsThis Sub-committee is chaired by Henning Melber. The annual reportsof the Working Groups were examined, and the Sub-committee discussedits future tasks.

Sub-committee on Conferences and SeminarsJürgen Wiemann kept the responsibility for the Sub-committee onConferences, Seminars and Networking. A work programme would bediscussed at its next meeting in 2003.

Sub-committee on Training and EducationKenneth King and Michel Carton chair the Sub-committee on Training

and Education. The Sub-committee focused on the detailed curriculumdevelopment of the first EADI Summer School which was scheduled forSeptember 2003 and discussed the joint Masters Programme in EuropeanDevelopment Co-operation.

Sub-committee on MembershipThis new Sub-committee on Membership was formed, headed by ColmFoy, in order to improve the membership situation and would meet forthe first time at the Executive Committee meeting in 2003

This EADI seminar was held on 26 April 2002 at Fundacío Cidob (Centred'Informació e Documentació Internacionals a Barcelona). It was organisedwith input from AIETI, the Association for Research on Ibero-AmericanIssues in Madrid. The two institutes proposed the conference themebecause of their concern about one of the effects of September 11: thatthe international community is paying excessive attention to securityissues, placing other matters, like development, in a secondary positionon the world agenda. On the other hand, the organisers also believedthat it was very difficult to have sustainable human development withoutsecurity.

Thus, the seminar aimed to analyse the link between these two goals,particularly with regard to the role of international co-operation. Specialistsfrom various countries were invited to reflect upon the general themeas well as to explain how the development-security nexus has beenapplied in various contexts. These case studies included the Balkans,Colombia and Central America, chosen to reflect on the linkages in dif-ferent types of conflict situations where international actors have playedan active role. The 10th General Conference hosted by the Institute for Economic Research(IER), was held from 19 - 21 September 2002 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Theconference took as its theme “EU Enlargement in a Changing World -Challenges for Development Co-operation in the 21st Century”. Thedebate surrounding EU Enlargement and its impact on the developingworld continues to occupy the attention of academia, administrationsand political leaders.

Eleven thematic sessions presented and debated questions on theperspectives of new EU members, the impact of EU enlargement on thedeveloping world, the challenges for the EU Mediterranean policy, theEU trade policy and the role of accession countries in EU officialdevelopment assistance.Four special sessions focused on the role of Central and Eastern Europeansocial science in transition and development studies, and presentedeconomic and financial challenges for Central and Eastern Europeancountries. One special session on global knowledge management andknowledge sharing was dedicated to the information specialists in EADI.Four working group sessions supplemented the debate in the thematicsessions, presenting regional case studies as well as topic-focusedapproaches.

The keynote address delivered by the President of Slovenia, Janez Drnovšek,focused on the enlarged EU seeking solutions to problems caused byglobalisation, and quite a few papers presented case studies of

Ce séminaire de l'EADI se tint le 26 avril 2002 dans la Fundacìo Cidob(Centre d'informaciò e documentaciò Internacionals a Barcelona). L'AIETI,Association de recherche sur les questions ibero-américaines de Ma-drid, participa à son organisation. Les deux instituts proposèrent ce thèmepour la conférence en raison de leur souci concernant l'un des effets du11 septembre: l'attention excessive accordée par la communauté inter-nationale aux questions de sécurité, qui relègue d'autres sujets, tels quele développement, en position secondaire dans l'agenda mondial. D'unautre côté, les organisateurs pensaient aussi qu'il est très difficile d'obtenirun développement humain durable sans sécurité.

Le but du séminaire était donc d'analyser le lien entre ces deux enjeux,en particulier concernant le rôle de la coopération internationale.Des spécialistes de divers pays furent invités à réfléchir sur le thème engénéral et à expliquer de quelle manière la relation développement/sécurité s'est trouvée appliquée dans divers contextes. Une session spéciale surla gestion du savoir mondial et l'échange du savoir a été organisée enpriorité pour les spécialistes de l'information au sein de l'EADI. The second keynote speaker Koos Richelle,European Union representative, explained the importance of developmentco-operation issues in the dialogue with the candidate countries, even ifit is not a priority. The rich agenda provided by this conference has,hopefully, fed the debate on “EU enlargement and development co-operation”. The conference proceedings will be published in 2003, andtwo special issues of the European Journal of Development Researchwill present select papers of the conference.

Sheila Page opened the meeting by assessing the work done and comparedthe 1999 - 2002 Work Programme with the activities that had effectivelytaken place. The Executive Secretary, Thomas Lawo, described the activitiesand functioning of the Secretariat over the period 1999 - 2002 in hisprogress report. The treasurer's report described the financial situationduring this three-year period. Both report and the accounts 1999 - 2002were unanimously approved.

The list of the newly elected representatives to the Executive Committeewas unanimously ratified (see list in Annex 5). Sheila Page, EADI's presidentduring the period 1999 - 2002, stepped down and Louk de la Rive Boxwas elected as the new president. As was a team of three vice-presidents:Isa Baud (The Netherlands), Henning Melber (Sweden) and JürgenWiemann (Germany) as Deputy President. The task of co-opting fivepeople on the Executive Committee was delegated to the newly elected

Committee as its first task the next day.Louk de la Rive Box gave an introduction to his vision of and work plan2002 - 2005 for EADI as the forum in Europe where theoretical approachesto globalisation and inequality are debated. It suggested the followingmain areas of concern:

Research - EADI as the quality forum in Europe for research on globaldevelopment, transformation and guided change issues.Training - EADI as the hub for Europe-wide training programmes.Knowledge Transfer - Links between traditional and modern ways ofexchanging information.Membership - EADI needs to have a membership drive.

This work programme would be revised in the coming months, andthen distributed to all EADI members and made available on the EADIwebsite.

The 10th General Conference offered the opportunity for an ad-hocmeeting of Directors of EADI member institutes. The meeting was convenedby Simon Maxwell, ODI, and delivered reflections on the role of theinstitutions and their Directors in the Association. It was agreed to havethese meetings on a regular basis, in order to carry forward the co-operation of institutes and improve knowledge management and exchangebetween organisations. The newly established Sub-Committee on Working Groups is tasked bythe Executive Committee to ensure that the quality criteria of EADI WorkingGroups are maintained and respected. Furthermore, quality performancein the Working Groups is supported practically and financially. HenceWorking Groups are monitored, assessed and where possible activelysupported. To this end, guidelines for Working Groups provide thenecessary frame of reference and define the common understanding.

Activities of the EADI Working Groups focussed mainly on the GeneralConference. Most of the Working Groups held a session at the Conference(details on their sessions and the relevant papers can be found on theEADI Website). The commitment of the Working Group conveners addedconsiderably to the success of the conference. A special thanks goes toall of them. European Master in European Development Co-operationThis idea for collaborative activity between a series of EADI memberinstitutes is an initiative for which the Working Group was seekingSOCRATES support for Curriculum Development. This project is thefirst expression of the desire expressed by several institutes to co-operatein offering a specialist master which does not compete with existingprovision in EADI institutes, but which draws initially on the comparativeadvantage of a number of institutes, primarily in some of the smallercountries of the EADI constituency: Finland, Scotland, The Netherlands,Portugal, Switzerland, Ireland and Hungary.

EADI developed several of the publications and information systemsfurther. The EJDR brought out a special issue on “Changing Global andRegional Conditions for National Economic Restructuring in Asia”, byguest editors John Degnbol-Martinussen and Laurids S. Lauridsen, anda second issue focusing mainly on land and water rights. A meeting withFrank Cass Publishers was held in November 2002 in Maastricht in orderto discuss options for the future publication policy in regard to the EJDRand the EADI Book Series. NORAD sponsored the subscription to memberinstitutions of our sister organisations in ICCDA, and extended this supportover 2003. News from members was exchanged through two print issuesof the EADI Newsletter (in English and French) and four issues of the e-newsletter. The EADI website is fast becoming an important, interactivetool for communication between members, and with the wider networksof interested people.

The website, regularly updated and maintained by the Secretariat withthe help of an authoring system, features the latest EADI news and linksto all member institutions and Working Groups. The EADI Newsletter focused mainly on the 10th General Conference ofEADI. The sessions of the conference were featured in a double issue 1-2/2002. The EADI e-newsletter is an efficient and frequently visited informationservice for EADI members as well as the general public to stay informedabout the development research community. It reaches over 1200subscribers at the moment, and four to five new people subscribe eachweek. It features news from members and partners, from EADI WorkingGroups, news on training courses, publications and conferences.

Un des instruments de gestion les plus importants pour les organisationsmodernes travaillant en réseaux est un système de recherche de contacts(personnes ou organisations). L'EADI est membres du groupement appelé

Joint Contact Database System, qui est commun à la CIDSE à Bruxelles,à EUFORIC et ECDPM tous deux à Maastricht, à ICCD à La Haye et auCentre du développement de l'OCDE à Paris.Tous ces partenaires font emploi du système en ligne appeléOneSiteEurope. Mettant l'accent surtout sur les secteurs d'intérêt, lacompétence thématique et tout autres type d'information essentiel pouraméliorer substantiellement le travail de réseautique, la base de donnéesest un outil important pour rendre plus facile les contacts entre leschercheurs et soutenir le travail de Groupes de travail de l'EADI enpermettant un contact entre chercheurs du même secteur. C'est pourquoiun questionnaire a été envoyé à tous les membres en 2001, et un rap-pel en 2002. Plus de 50% de nos adhérents ont répondu à ce questionnaire,rendant donc possible la collecte d'informations les plus détaillées etspécifiques possibles sur les membres de l'EADI. Les annuaires importantd'instituts membres sont disponibles sur le site de l'EADI. Un autre résultatde la base de donnée commune est l'Annuaire des organisations travaillantdans le développement, disponible lui aussi sur notre site web. On y aajouté un moteur de recherche en ligne.

One of the most important management tools in today's networkedorganisations is a system of tracking information about contacts (peopleand organisations). EADI is a member of a Joint Contacts Database Sy-stem, which is shared by CIDSE, Brussels, EUFORIC and ECDPM, bothMaastricht, IICD, The Hague, and the OECD Development Centre, Paris.All these partners use the OneSite Europe online system. Focussing stronglyon fields of interests, thematic expertise and other information which isessential for improving networking, the database is an important toolfor facilitating contacts among researchers and for supporting the workof the EADI Working Groups by bringing together researchers with thesame fields of interest. Therefore a questionnaire was sent to all membersin 2001, and a reminder in 2002.More than 50% of our members answered the questionnaire, so that itwas possible to get as specific and detailed information as possible onEADI members. The relevant directories of EADI member institutes areavailable on the EADI website. Another result of the shared database isthe Directory of Organisations Working in Development, also availableon the EADI website. An online search facility was enabled.

EADI had the privilege to admit a number of new members (see pagexx) to the Association. While we welcome them into EADI, the ExecutiveCommittee considers an additional membership drive to be necessary,to at least stabilise, if not increase the number of member institutes,associates and individuals. A Sub-committee on Membership wasestablished to deal with these challenges.

Working together requires active partnerships within the developmentcommunity from North and South, East and West. A unique platformfor this is the Inter-Regional Co-ordinating Committee of DevelopmentAssociations (ICCDA) with sister networks all over the world. Despite allthe forward-looking promises made at the last ICCDA meeting in 1999in Paris, the present collaboration within ICCDA is regrettably weak andunstructured. The former co-operation in joint projects no longer exists,which does not mean that the individual member associations are notvery active at their respective levels and within their regions. There is alot of potential for joint programmes. All five have quite comparableworking group structures that could liase with those of EADI. In order tomake ICCDA activities, contact persons and programmes more visible,EADI has started to feature news from its sister organisations on itswebsite. NORAD sponsored the subscription of the EJDR to memberinstitutions of our sister organisations in ICCDA, and extended this supportover 2003.

Over the past few years, EADI has developed good public relations.EADI is quite well known in the development community in Bonn and isan active partner of the Centre for International Co-operation Bonn (CIC).Among the other existing networks, EADI values its membership inOneWorld International (London/UK), the Society for InternationalDevelopment, SID International (Rome/Italy), the International SocialScience Council, ISSC (Paris/France) and the Global Development Network,GDN/GDNet (Washington/USA) as an appropriate way to foster profes-sional partnerships and joint ventures.Especially the Global Development Network and its service arm, theGDNet, offer new avenues of international co-operation, co-ordinationand exchange. GDN is structured in such a way that regional hubs covercertain continent-specific programmes. Quite a few EADI memberscollaborate with the GDN and GDNet in various concrete projects. TheExecutive Secretary of EADI regularly attends the annual meetings ofGDN and is a member of the Steering Committee of the GDNet.In addition, EADI is an institutional member of EUFORIC in Maastricht/the Netherlands. Thomas Lawo is elected Treasurer and continues torepresent the ordinary members of this co-operative on the Board ofEUFORIC. These networks provide various opportunities for EADI andour members.

L'EADI a eu le privilège d'admettre plusieurs nouveaux membres dansl'association (voir page ). Le fait de coopérer suppose que l'on vive des partenariats actifs au seinde la communauté de recherche sur le développement, du Nord auSud, de l'Est à l'Ouest. Une plate-forme unique de partenariat est leComité de coordination interrégional des associations du développement(l'ICCDA) et ses associations sœurs du monde entier. Malgré les promessespour l'avenir faites lors de la dernière réunion de l'ICCDA en 1999 àParis, notre collaboration avec l'ICCDA est pour le momentmalheureusement faible et non-structurée. L'ancien type de coopérationau travers de projets communs n'existe plus, ce qui ne signifie pas quedes associations membres ne sont pas individuellement très actives àleurs propres niveaux d'action et dans les régions qui leurs sont spécifiques.Il y a beaucoup de potentialité pour des programmes communs. Tousles cinq réseaux disposent de structures de groupes de travail biencomparables qui pourraient se mettre en liaison avec ceux de l'EADI.Afin de rendre les activités, les personnes de contact et les programmes

de l'ICCDA plus visibles, l'EADI a commencé à publier des nouvelles deses organisations sœurs sur son site. NORAD a subventionné l'abonnementde l'EJDR aux institutions membres de nos organisations sœurs au seinde l'ICCDA, et a reconduit ce soutien au delà de 2003.

Pendant les dernières années, l'EADI a développé de bonnes relationspubliques. L'EADI est bien connu au sein de la communauté dudéveloppement établie à Bonn, et l'EADI est un partenaire actif du Centrepour la coopération internationale (CIC) dont le siège est à Bonn.Parmi les autres réseaux qui existent, l'EADI valorise le fait qu'il est membrede OneWorldInternational (Londres,RU), de la Société pour ledéveloppement international, SID International (Rome,Italie), du Conseilinternational des sciences sociales (Paris,France) et du Réseau pour ledéveloppement mondial ,RDM et GDNet (Washington,USA) en tant que moyen fort appropriépour soutenir des partenariats professionnels et des joint ventures.En particulier, le RDM et sa branche de services, le GDNet, offrent denouvelles possibilités de coopération internationale, de coordination etd'échange. Le RDM est structuré de telle sorte que les moyeux régionauxcouvrent certains programmes spécifiques aux continents. Seulementquelques membres de l'EADI collaborent avec le RDM et le GDNetpour divers projets concrets. Le Secrétaire exécutif participe régulièrementaux réunion annuelles du RDM et il est un membre du Comité directeurdu GDNet.

De plus, l'EADI est un membre institutionnel d'EUFORIC situé à Maas-tricht aux Pays-Bas.
