TRANSCRIPT

To be arrested for the following offenses:

• Being flexible and hair-like to help move proteins and debri along

• For using the spoke head and overall elasticity to spring back after something is passed from one cilia to another.

• Not only being used in the human throat and lungs to bring mucus up to the mouth to be swallowed, but ALSO by single-celled organsisms to propel themselves around in water

Cilium

Cilium look, and function similarly to centipede’s legs. They are both short "leg like" projections used for motility. But centipede’s legs help move the creature about, while cilium are only used to move around a fluid environment. Centipedes use their legs to help move food as well which is similar to cells which often use their cilia to move proteins.

Cilia are armed and dangerious so here are some things to be cautious of:1. Central Bridge Protein: The central bridge protein is a protein in a cilia, which is used like other proteins by combining in the organelle to perform ciliary motion, the ability of the cilia to move.2. Plasma Membrane: The plasma membrane in a cilia not only holds all of the inside of the organelle together, it also helps regulate what substances enter and leave the organelle.3 &4. Dynein: Dynein is found in axonemes, and is used to transport cargo needed for cell function. 5. Nexin: Nexin is a linkage that prevents cilia to move in respect to each other, without nexin, transport proteins would dissolve the entire structure of the organelle!6. Spoke Head: The spoke head determines the specific bending of the cilium7 &12. Radial Spoke: A protein found in the axonemes, it plays a role in the movement of the cilium.8 & 9: Anoxeme: The binding for the proteins found inside cilium.10. Basal Body: Found at the base of the cilia, site for the growth of new cilia, once a cilium is grown, it remains attached to its original Basal Body, it also helps regulate the internal
