Sub-Theme: By Power Manifestation.Topic: Pleasing God Through Power Manifestation: An Introductory StudyTexts: 1 Cor.4:20; 1 Thess. 4:1; Heb.11:6.Aims: i. To understand that manifestation of God’s power is an essential part of our salvation package;

ii. To learn how to manifest His power;iii. To challenge us to dare to walk in the

supernatural dimension.

Introduction: Walking by power of the Spirit is an essential attribute of those who truly belong to God (1 Cor.4:20). In I Thessalonians 4:1, we are charged ‘to walk and to please God’; and Hebrews 11:6 shows us how. The ‘faith hall of fame’ in Hebrews 11 is a long list of men and women who demonstrated their faith in God by their lives and accomplishments, thus manifesting God’s power in very special and peculiar ways.

Study Guide

1. Every Christian is expected to walk by and manifest divine power. Discuss from Mk.16:17-18; Luke 10:18-19; Rom.8:19; 1 Cor.2:4; 4:20; 12:7-11; I Thess. 1:5.

2a. Why are some Christians not manifesting the supernatural power of God? Num.11:4-6; Matt.13:58; Luke 9:37-41.

b. What is God’s response to our failing to manifest His power? Matt.17:14-17.

Conclusion: It will be to God’s glory and honour if we refuse to settle for less of every spiritual blessing He has provided. We should not settle for less! By faith, let us receive and live our lives by faith through the Holy Spirit.

Food For Thought: God’s mighty power will remain elusive to those who are in church but not in His Kingdom!

CHRISTIAN UNITY EPHESIANS 4: 2-4

Ephesians 4:2-4 2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing forbearance to one another in love, 3 being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.  The text above is the fundamental unity that exists in the life of all believers. We have one Spirit that indwells in us, we have one calling to salvation and to save, we have one Lord, Jesus Christ who died for us all and rise up from the dead to return, we have one faith as delivered of old, we have one baptism into the death and live of Christ Jesus, we have one God

the Father of our Lord and Saviour, who is over all and through all in all. It is based upon our sharing life in one body, the universal church, the body of Christ. All Christians are sealed, possessed, and indwelt by the same Spirit and look forward to the same hope.Unity does not imply uniformity. It does not mean that all Christians will think alike or perform identical ministries. It does imply a common purpose and interdependence within the body of Christ. To every individual within the body of Christ is given a particular capacity for ministry. This capacity (or capacities) is commonly called a ‘spiritual gift.’ Although the particular function involved may not appear to be particularly ‘spiritual,’ the outcome is spiritual benefit to the body of Christ. Please permit me to drive my point to the contest of our church, the priest that will call the worship cannot be the stewards because he is with the micro, or because the choir is closer to the altar they cannot serve as the altar servers. There are responsibilities to be carried out by the different units in the church.

Why do we need to call for unity in Christianity?1. Christian unity is for our own personal benefit.

“When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.” Proverbs 16. “Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days… seek peace and pursue it.” Psalm 34

2. Christian unity benefits God’s people. “How good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity… for there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forevermore.” Psalm 133. “Let us pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another.” Rom 14. “As God’s chosen people… bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.” Col 3:12.

3. Christian unity makes us more effective. “If two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.” Matt 18. “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16.

4. Christian unity shines Christ’s love into the world. “The glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them,

and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.” John 17:23.
