1. INTRODUCTION, WELCOME AND EVENT OVERVIEW
The Zambia International Rally is Zambia’s premier motorsport event and is organized each year by Zambia Motor Sports Association (ZMSA) Rally Commission under the jurisdiction of the FIA African Rally Championship.
The 2018 Gomes Zambia International Rally is the first year for Gomes to solely sponsor an International Rally, in the Forests of Zaffico in Ndola Zambia. The event is organized by Ndola Motor Sports Club (NMC) and we are extremely proud of this venture.A big welcome to all potential competitors, officials and spectators, you are all invited to be part of the best National rally on the calendar.
The Zambia International Rally welcomes the African Rally Championship (ARC) competitors, service crews, spectators and FIA Officials to our event. We encourage you all to make use of all the facilities that have been provided to make your stay enjoyable.
The Gomes Zambia International Rally is run in compliance with the FIA Regional Rally Sporting Regulations and its appendices, the National Sporting Regulations which comply with the FIA Regulations and Supplementary Regulations set aside for this event. Event Overview The Zambia International Rally, 3rd round of the ZMSA National Rally Championship and also 4th round of the African Rally Championship will take place on Friday, 22nd to Sunday 24th June 2018. The event will begin with a ceremonial flag off in Ndola on Friday afternoon at 16.00hrs and will finish in Ndola on Sunday afternoon with special stages running on closed roads.
Leg 1 of the Rally will start from Protea Hotel Ndola on Saturday 23rd June 2018 at 09:00 hrs. It will also have a Super Special Stage which will be run at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in the night. This brings spectacular viewing as the spectators and crews get to enjoy some Ndola glamour with great food and drinks, ending the day with a spectacular fireworks display. The day then ends back at Protea Hotel Ndola and cars will be kept overnight there. Leg 2 will be run on Sunday 24 th June with special stages mostly in the forests of Ndola. The event finishes back in Ndola at the Protea Hotel on Sunday 24th June 2018 at 16:00 hrs.
The course will cover a total distance of approximately 353.39 km of which 218.54 km is made up of Special stages. There will be recce runs on the Wednesday afternoon, 20th June and Thursday morning, 21st June.
There will be a shakedown stage run on Thursday from 15:00 hours to 17:00 hours
The rally conditions are expected to be dry and cool. All hotel facilities to be used by competitors, their crew and supporters have been negotiated for special rates. See Hotel Accommodation for further information.

The Organizers may refund 50% of the entry fee to those competitors who, for reasons of “force majeure” (only certified by their ASN), were unable to start the Rally.

- Local competitors must enter online on the http://zambiarally.com website and complete the prescribed entry form and medical questionnaire. All entries must be done online if possible. Entrants other than the first or second driver must hold an appropriate Competition Licence
issued by ZMSA.
- Local Competitors – On collection of documentation, please supply original signed entry form and all relevant vehicle and crew information.
- Foreign Competitors - On collection of documentation, please supply original signed entry form, clearance letter from your ASN and all relevant vehicle and crew information.
- Final Administrative checks, payments, signing and collection of all relevant advertising material will be undertaken at this time.

7. FUEL AND TYRES
FUEL7.1 The use of Aviation fuel - AV GAS is permitted.7.2 Competitors who require AV GAS may contact the organisers for assistance as to where to Purchase the Av gas7.2 Competitors are entirely responsible for providing and distributing their own fuel throughout
the event. All refueling will be carried out in designated refueling zones in the service parks and during the allocated road section times.
TYRESTyres specified for use during the rally Use of slick or studded Tyres is prohibited. The inside of the tyre may only be filled with air. Any device or material used to maintain the tyre inflation is prohibited. Tyres for use on reconnaissance Tyres are free on reconnaissance.

Procedures for registration – All competitors are to register for reconnaissance at their respective times of collecting material and documents.

12.1 Specific and/or national restrictions – speed limit on the special stages - The speed limit is a maximum speed of 60kph on gravel roads.
12.2 Reconnaissance will only be allowed for two passages of each special stage for each crew and will be as per Article 25.4 3 of the 2017 FIA Regional Rally Sporting Regulations.
12.3 Vehicle sharing – more than one crew may share a vehicle during reconnaissance
12.4 Things to consider-
- Please be pleasant and courteous to ALL people in the stages.
- Do not be tempted by obvious short cuts as judges of fact will be in place and random cuts will be blocked with rocks on the day.
- Stages will be recce’d as per the reconnaissance schedule.
- Observe speed signs at all times

14.SHAKE DOWN STAGE
This stage will operate on Thursday, 21st June 2018 between 15:00 to 17;00 hours along the Ndola / Kitwe Road about 13.80km (start) and 11.30km (end)( spectator viewing here ) from the roundabout at the stadium in Ndola
(The Technical Delegate will check all safety requirements before the Shakedown).
15. START PROCEDURES
CEREMONIAL STARTFriday 22nd June 2018 – 16:00 hours – Protea Marriot Hotel Ndola
Drivers are required to have their cars in Parc Ferme 1 hour before the ceremonial start of the rally on Friday 22nd June 2018. Drivers will enter the Holding area 10 minutes before their actual start time to proceed to the start podium for official flag off. Cars will drive off the ramp at 30 second intervals, and wait at the gate of the hotel behind a Police escort vehicle, who will lead the convoy of rally vehicles through Ndola town on a short drive exhibition. They will return to the hotel and are released for the night, but have to be in Parc Ferme the following morning.
16.FINISH PROCEDURES
After the last stage on Sunday and the service park at Levy Mwanawasa stadium, the cars will be regrouped and held in park Ferme (Rally finished).The cars will then proceed to Protea Marriot Hotel Ndola for the ceremonial Finish on the ramp at 17:00 hours. The winner will go through last as the ceremonial finish will be done in reverse order. The prize giving will take place at Protea Marriot Hotel Ndola on Sunday 24th June 2018 at 17:00 hours.

22.EVENT HISTORY
The Zambia International Rally, which this year is the 3rd round of the ZMSA National Championships series, has been run since 1969 and only had a break when rallying came to a stop from 1976 to 1985 when it was restarted. The event has been run every year since then.
This event has always generated extra revenue in the communities and city where it is hosted. Widespread television coverage of the event also provides the local communities with exposure throughout Zambia and Africa.

27.SPECTATORS
Indemnity – Motorsport is Dangerous
While the promoters and Organisers of this rally meeting have taken every reasonable precaution for the safety of the spectators, it is impossible to guarantee their safety in views of the high speeds attained by the competitors. Admission is therefore granted upon the clear understanding that any spectator attending the meeting appreciates the risks involved and waives for himself/herself, his/her successors, assignees or dependants, any claim or claims which he/she might, save for this waiver, have against the promoters, organizers of beneficiaries or the owner/lessor of the property, in respect of any injuries or damage, however arising which he/she may suffer while attending this rally meeting.
A Spectators Programme will be published and made available to the public the week before the event and the document will also be available on the websites www.fia.com, www.africanrallychampionship , www.zambiarally.com . There will be directions to get to the stages, GPS co-ordinates, maps and the roads will be clearly marked as how to get to the spectator points.
