Yours, Mine, and Ours: Work by Collaborating

Craftsmen

On display at The Gallery at the

League of NH Craftsmen Headquarters

October 2 to December 18, 2015

Opening Reception: Friday, October 2, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm

CONCORD, NH – The skill and creativity involved in creating fine handmade craft is kicked up to

another level when two or more master craftspeople come together to make art. The League of

NH Craftsmen is pleased to host Yours, Mine, and Ours, a new multi-media exhibition of work

created by collaborations among its juried members. The exhibition will be on display from

October 2 through December 18, 2015 at The Gallery at the League of NH Craftsmen

Headquarters in downtown Concord. Each piece is a hybrid of different craft media: a necklace

created with polymer clay and soutache and bead embroidery; a lamp with a translucent wood

shade and a colorful ceramic base; and a privacy screen with a detailed wood frame and

delicately painted fabric panels. The exhibit also features fine craft made by solely by the

collaborating craftspeople. (A list of participants appears at the end of this release.)

An opening reception, where the public can meet and speak with the makers, will be held on

Friday, October 2 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The Gallery is located in the League’s headquarters

in the SMILE! building on 49 South Main Street, Suite 100, in Concord, NH. It is open Monday -

Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, and Saturday, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.

“Each piece is the shared interpretation of each collaborator’s technique, experience, and visual

style – resulting in some very special pieces,” said Jane Oneail, executive director of the League

of NH Craftsmen. “The League is an incredible community of craftsmen that learn from each

other and push each other to innovate. It’s from this strong community that the collaborations

in this exhibit were born.”

Insightful! – Show within the Show

The League is partnering with the NH Association for the Blind for a unique show-within-the

show called Insightful! This exhibit features high tactile and high contrast craft. Sighted and

visually impaired visitors are encouraged to experience the work through touch. (Braille text

will be provided.) In 2016, this exhibition will travel throughout New Hampshire. Participating

craftspeople in this show are: Art Anderson (Marlow, NH); Ann Winterling (Concord, NH); Bill

Frost (Wilmington, MA); June Adinah (Contoocook, NH); Jon Vanderhorst (Rindge, NH); Duane

F. Martin (Newfields, NH); Maggie Tetreault (Windham, NH); Brita Ek (New London, NH); Ann

Lee (Lowell, MA); Deb Bury (Deerfield, NH); Sharon Lindstrom (Belmont, NH); Beth Lux (Bow,

NH); David Ernster (Newbury, NH); Nikki Sullivan (Bedford, NH), and Deb Fairchild (Hampstead,

NH).

Newly acquired works now on display in The Grodin Permanent Collection Museum

Also on display during the Yours, Mine, and Ours exhibition are recently acquired fine craft

pieces in the Grodin Permanent Collection Museum at the League headquarters. The pieces

include a Manzanita burl sculpture by Melvin Lindquist, an enamel plate by Karl Drerup, a lily

pad drinking glass by Richard Harkness, a framed ceramic triptych by Kathy Hanson, a mid-

century studio art vase by Bruce Eppelsheimer, a blown glass bowl by Robert Burch, a porcelain

doll by Mona Adison Brooks, a burl bowl by Dustin Coates, and a circular metal box by Barbara

Scarponi – all donated by Nora and Norman Stevens.

There is also a ceramic vessel by Vivika and Otto Heino, donated by Nancy Vosburg; a footed

ceramic bowl by Edwin and Mary Scheier, donated by Ingeborg Eddy; a forged feather sculpture

made and donated by Lance Cloutier; a ceramic figured vase and ceramic vessel by Gerry

Williams, donated by Karen Mitchell; a ceramic plate by Edwin Scheier, donated by the estate

of Louise Williams; a ceramic vase by Walter Roche, donated by Sharon Lindstrom; and a

Cadenza etching by Nancy Nemec, donated by Carolyn K. Stone.

The League’s Permanent Collection includes craft from the League's early years to the present,

including pieces made by some of the world's renowned craftspeople, such as Otto and Vivika

Heino and Edwin and Mary Scheier. The museum provides fascinating insights into the

evolution of fine craft and should not be missed. Admission to the museum is free.
