Fourth Sunday of Easter with Holy Communion

9:00 AM Worship Service 11:00 AM

As you enter to worship, please remember to silence your cell phones.

1SILENT MEDITATIONThe core group of early Christians found enough support and promise to keep the community of faith alive. As we worship today, let us acknowledge that we are an extension of that same community of faith. As the family of God, we study, share, pray, and eat the common meal. We gather in Christ’s name. Amen.

INVOCATION

All who are able, please stand.Music used by permission, CCLI #1683224

CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION UNISONMerciful and Loving God, we ask forgiveness because our consciousness of you is dimmed by everyday desires and needs. Raise our consciousness of you, O God. We forget that faith is central to life and that worship is central to faith. Awaken our awareness of you, O God. Open our eyes from surface focus to a deeper and more meaningful perception. Increase our mindfulness of you, O God. Forgive us for our narrow and selfish ways. Forgive us, O God, we pray. Amen.

WORDS OF ASSURANCE

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostles Creed1I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy universal church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the dead and life everlasting. Amen.

GLORIA PATRIGlory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be;World without end. Amen. Amen.

INVITATION TO HOLY COMMUNION

PRAYERS AT THE TABLELeader: The Lord be with you.PEOPLE: And also with you.Leader: May we open our hearts.PEOPLE: May we know God’s presence.Leader: Holy God, we honor you in whom our lives are founded, and in whom our

futures lie. We recognize your distinct presence in our lives and the purpose you bring to our lives. We acknowledge your Divine Presence in this meal and in the meaning it gives to our lives. At this gracious table, we encounter you in bread made of common grain, broken and shared; and we meet you in wine, a single fruit joined with many. Therefore we join with people of every time and place to proclaim your praise:

PEOPLE: Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest!Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!

Leader: Holy God, may our hearts and minds be alive to what is sacred in these symbols of bread and wine. May they open us to your grace and to your love for us, and for all humankind. This is our hope, our common will, and the expression of our love and trust in Jesus, our Christ.

PEOPLE: May all who eat this broken bread be brought to wholeness and fullness in life. May all who drink this one cup be united in harmony and love.

Leader: And now, in the spirit of Christ’s teaching, let us continue to pray…

THE LORD’S PRAYER SUNG BY ALLOur Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
