Appendix A

Good evening all,

It’s been yet another great year for our club so far, across both disciplines and at all levels.

Swimming highlights:

It made national news when Shannon Rollason moved to Edinburgh to further his swim coaching career! And the Australian media reported that “Australia’s swim coaching ranks suffering a brain drain” following his departure. This shows how lucky Edinburgh are to have gained such a renowned figure.

Last summer may seem like an age ago, but the biggest highlight of Edinburgh's swimming year must be Geoff, Yvette and Nick's trip to Rio! Massive congratulations once again.

In BUCS competition, the Edinburgh teams finished 3rd in Championship and won Shield. There were also strong performances from Edinburgh swimmers at BUCS Nationals: notably both the men's and women's freestyle relay teams won gold, and Edinburgh swimmers won all of the men's breaststroke events with Euan Inglis taking the 50m title and Nick Quinn winning both the 100m and 200m.

Once again, Edinburgh hosted the very successful Edinburgh International Swim Meet. I was lucky enough to get to watch David Cumberlidge annihilate the competition in the freestyle SKINS event.

Our club swimmers have also worked hard this year to represent the club at all the SSS league matches. We have also been fortunate enough to welcome alumni, David Madine, back to the club as our new coach; along with Jenn Davis on a Saturday. Many thanks to both of you for providing a consistently high standard of coaching.

Water Polo highlights:

Both the Men’s and Women’s 1st teams continued to demonstrate why EUSWPC is one of the best clubs for university water polo in the country.

Firstly, both our men's and women's 1st teams travelled to Rijeka to compete in the EUSA games. This was a fantastic experience for all involved.

In BUCS, the men went from strength to strength throughout the season, qualifying for BUCS Super 8s in a thrilling match vs Cambridge, decided by penalties. The women came 2nd in the Premier North League after having won the title for a number of consecutive years, but still automatically qualified for Super 8s. There, we qualified top of our group and subsequently thrashed St Andrews in our semi-final. Sadly, we did not defeat the scholarship-funded Durham team in the final, finishing 2nd in BUCS Championship.

EUSWPC AGM Minutes 28/3/17

The men’s 2nds (“The Flies”) finished 2nd in their BUCS Scottish 1A league, notably defeating Glasgow 1sts away for the first time in a number of years.

The Women’s 2nd team (“The Queens”) finished 3rd. It is a fantastic achievement for both of these teams to be fierce competition to other Scottish university's 1st teams, who often field national team players.

A big thank you to all of the coaches, referees and table officials who make water polo at Edinburgh so successful.

Committee

I must give massive thanks for the excellent work done by this year's committee. Your efforts and dedication to the running of this club have certainly made my life easier!

Thank you to Joe as Vice-President. We now have both Swim and PoloMark, and St Leonard's is an official 'satellite centre' which will hopefully in future allow the club to host coaching courses to raise much needed club funds. I eagerly await next month's club ball which I am sure will be even bigger and better than last year!

Hanna, your work as Treasurer this year has always been accurate and dependable. For those of you who aren’t aware, this role is a thankless task and a huge job for anyone to take on. Thank you also to Ben for helping Hanna transition into the position.

Megan has done a stellar job as secretary. You have always been organised this year and have done a great job dealing with a number of SASA registrations and membership issues.

Fran, your work as Fixtures Sec this year has been excellent. Again, this position is not one for the faint-hearted, with well over 100 fixtures to organise this year.

Thank you, Martha, for your outstanding efforts as Publicity and Alumni Officer. You have definitely improved the club's social media presence and the alumni seemed to have an amazing weekend thanks to you!

Lisanne and Kirsty slotted perfectly into their Sponsorship and Fundraising role on the committee following the EGM.

Thank you for your work as Kit Sec, Sophia. It has been a challenging year, especially communicating with Playerlayer following the departure of their representative in the SU. The new Turbo suits and trunks look fantastic and I'm sure your design will be worn for years to come.

Cesca and Meek have worked hard as our Convenors this year. Your efforts in organising events such as Stirling Sprints and Aberdeen Aquatics Champs have been invaluable.

Will, thank you for your efforts as Social Sec. The Flat Golf events have been some of the biggest ever, and are very important fundraisers for the Club. I look forward to be biggest tour ever, with over 60 club members travelling to Budapest in May.

Unfortunately, the club was not short-listed for any awards at this year's SU Ball. This, I imagine is due to the yellow card we received last year because I ordered non-PlayerLayer kit. I look forward to leaving the club SU sanction free and hope that next year's committee can show the SU what a fantastic club we are and win at least a couple of awards next year!!

EUSWPC AGM Minutes 28/3/17

Finally, I must say a massive thank you to all current club members for being great! You make EUSWPC the outstanding club that it is. I wish the new committee the best of luck for the coming year. Remember I will never be far away and will always be willing to support (unless you’d rather I got lost!!!)

Appendix B

This year we had 200 members sign up for our club, which is 21 more members than last year, and the most there has ever been in EUSWPC. Out of our 200 members, we managed to get 178 of them SASA registered. On top of that we have also SASA registered 6 coaches and 3 volunteers, of which the majority are performance. All members also bought the correct CSE membership, making the membership process much easier.

Our Vice-President, Joe Hansen-Shearer, recently got EUSWPC affiliated with PoloMark, meaning we are now fully affiliated with Scottish Swimming.

The committee worked well all year on making sure all SU deadlines were met, and all general meetings were attended, meaning we were not fined by the SU for anything this year.

Finally, I would just like to say a massive thank you to Alison for being such a good president this year, and to the rest of the committee for doing an amazing job. Good luck to everyone running for positions tonight, and I hope everyone has a good evening!

Appendix C

We received £1800 less in club grant allocation this year (£4450) this goes to paying for lifeguards meaning we are soon to be paying for our own life guards. We also, due to unfortunate circumstances, have been unable to get any sponsors this year. Therefore, things are a bit tighter at this point in the year so everyone makes sure they get the drinks and foods in at revs and we’re grand.

Everyone has now paid for the new costumes and trunks (28 trunks were sold and 24 costumes) some people took more encouraging than others to pay but we got there.

If everyone can make sure they pay promptly for club ball that would make me happy, just because it says pay by the 15th that doesn’t mean pay on the 15th. Payments for this year have generally been good if people can do their best to continue this for the incoming treasurer as it makes life so much easier not having to be a parent and chase everyone up.

The system for performance payments for entering competitions has changed so it is all done through Active Hy-tek which I am signatory for. So each swimmer now pays themselves for competitions on this system if it’s used for that competition, even though performance (with a big thanks to Kathy) have been good at paying this year.

All in all, the books are balanced, happy days.
