Contract SpecialistSaint Alphonsus Health System (SAHS) - Boise, ID

Department: Managed CareFull Time – M-F: 8:00am-4:30pm

Responsibilities: The position will be responsible for the lead role in the initial design, communication and execution, as

well as evaluation and monitoring of the contracting strategy for Saint Alphonsus Health System and Saint Alphonsus Health Alliance, which includes owned and affiliated physicians and hospitals.

The Contract Specialist will coordinate payor and provider contracting functions for the Alliance and develop strong relationships with provider practices, internal teams, employers, brokers and payors.

Establish relationships with key personnel at provider and payer offices. Develop or evaluate contract proposals and provide comprehensive analysis and recommendations to

leadership. Evaluate payor contracts including reimbursement and risk provisions. Develop and implement a contract modeling analysis of the financial terms of proposed contract. Coordinate and participate in contract negotiations and renewals. Maintain contract management software. Stay abreast of legislative activities relevant to healthcare services, healthcare benefit plans and

provider networks. Support SAHS hospital leadership in contract evaluation and negotiations. Responsible for provider contracting activities and communications to include, provider notices,

contract updates, and issue resolution. Participate in development of annual department budgets and business plans. Maintain professional fee schedule. Develop and maintain professional fee schedule calculator on network website. Responsible for employee health plan network management. Develop open enrollment and ongoing education regarding network/network changes (employee health

plan). Provide education regarding Alliance to potential network providers/practices.

Required Experience: 1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education, preferably in the field of

Business Administration with a strong background in healthcare administration. 2. Minimum 5 years experience in a healthcare setting preferably in payor/insurer contracting and/or

provider contracting, and/or provider network support and development and practice management/administration.

3. Experience in payor contract language review and contract modeling. 4. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external teams.5. Excellent analytical, presentation, and interpersonal skills. 6. Intermediate computer skills with experience in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook.
