Fast approaching! 16th Faszination Modellbau Friedrich-shafen from 03.-05.11.17, the world's largest model engin-eering event.

More halls, more space, more exhibits, more live steam action, more records, more premieres, more competitions, more community, more cult - this year for the first time Faszination Modellbau takes place in conjunction with the worldwide renowned indoor meeting for steam-driven models, and in doing so becomes the world's largest model engineering event. By holding these two popular theme-related shows simul-taneously at the Friedrichshafen venue, Messe Sinsheim provides ideal networking opportunities for the model engineering community. And the entertainment factor increases by yet another degree in two additional exhibition halls. On land, on water and in the air, Faszination Modellbau offers the most comprehensive range of brand names, specialised small-series manufacturers as well as numerous accessory suppli-ers in all sectors of model engineering. On an area of more than 61,000 sqm in a total of nine exhibition halls, in Foyer West, the open-air grounds and the adjacent airport premises, the dedicated, sociable model-making community representing all modelling sectors comes together for three days to experience and celebrate the in-finitely fascinating cosmos of miniatures.

Highest concentration of celebrities at the "Stars of the Year" show

The air show "Stars of the Year" is one of the undisputed highlights of "Faszination". This mega show is packed with fantastic performances by pilots from the interna-tional model flight scene who round off their season with a top programme, presen-ted in the skies over Friedrichshafen: Nowhere else will passionate aeromodelling fans find a greater display! High-efficiency jet planes shoot up into the sky like light-ning over the heads of captivated spectators. Powered by turbo propellers, true-to-scale model planes cruise above the superb airport venue. Vintage aircraft give spec-tators insight into the nostalgic world of early aviation. World, European and national champions accomplish extraordinary flight manoeuvres, fine-tuned sky choreograph-ies and record-breaking speed challenges with their unique flying machines. And without giving too much away: one of the most successful RC model pilots from the United States will honour the show with his presence and join the ranks of the most prominent pilots at Faszination Modellbau, International Fair for Model Railways and Model Making.

The most entertaining indoor air show ever

Visitors to Faszination Modellbau love the Indoor Action Flight Show in Foyer West! The biggest fans are youngsters who can't get enough of the imaginative and quirky flying objects, hand-made by inventive modellers. Cute yellow cartoon figures flap around in the air in pursuit of flying "bananas", unusual creations of all kinds swoop and soar within the 30x30 metre large and 13 metre high indoor flight zone. Dreamy melodies, cool guitar sounds or vibrant drum beats, accompanied by harmonious lighting effects, underline the perfectly directed show programme and skilfully set the stage for RC slow flyers, RC electric aero models and paragliders and their pro-fessional pilots. A high-flying spectacle that delights fans of all ages and inspires aeronauts to give their best performances on all three days of the fair!

Iconic iron horses steam through the world of model engineering

The immensely popular Indoor Steam Meeting "Echtdampf-Hallentreffen" unites with the mega event "Faszination Modellbau" at its top venue in Friedrichshafen, bringing with it the world's longest indoor 5 inch track layout totalling almost 6 kilometres in length. The 7 halls that until now have hosted the model engineering exhibition will be enhanced by the addition of halls B1 and B2, where live steam will be celebrated. This is where railway buffs and fans of all ages can take a ride around the hall on iconic steam engines and admire rare steam-driven models on display. Owners of unique steam models who would like to enjoy this spectacle by presenting their steam machines at the show should write to info@messe-sinsheim.de for registration details without delay. Visitors to the show can look forward to fantastic steam-driven model railway engines, road vehicles, ships and stationary steam machines, for the enthralling experience of seeing how each wheel connects with the next in fabulous mechanical harmony.

The most classic of hobbies: Model railways

The most beautiful mountain regions of Europe, America's breath-taking railroads, impressively creative fantasy landscapes in miniature format: the wonderful world of model railways is on show at Faszination Modellbau. This largest of all modelling sec-tors is a real classic among hobbies, uniting railway fans, craftsmen, technicians and electronic fans, who get together to create their own little cosmos - or large cosmos, as can be seen in two whole halls at Faszination Modellbau. Clear ideas and precise planning are vital prerequisites for creating a unique model railway layout with its own personality. All the necessary materials can be found at the many exhibition stands run by the industry's leading brand manufacturers, small-series manufactur-ers and accessory suppliers. Rolling stock in all gauges, drive technology, tracks, model railway software, landscape models, figures, lighting technology and much more provide plenty of inspiration for creative minds. Live railway modelling, majestic model steam engines and the most attractive model railways in all available gauges are presented by exhibitors, clubs and societies.

XXL vehicles in miniature format: Don't worry – be heavy!

Heavy goods vehicles navigate precisely to the last millimetre around narrow corners while transporting tons of heavy bridge parts, agile forklifts briskly unload large lor-ries, a truck is stuck in muddy terrain and is freed in no time by a 4WD vehicle. The everyday buzz of the HGVs and lorries in miniature format as they drive around their realistically designed layout almost lets spectators forget that the trucks are actually remote-controlled by their constructors. Whether it is a wheel loader, hydraulic ex-cavator, bulldozer, snowplough or special vehicle: everything is handmade and as-sembled with great dedication from hundreds of parts. At Faszination Modellbau in Hall A4 the true-to-original replicas of these XXL vehicles are proudly presented at the Truck Model festival with layouts in scales 1:8, 1:12 and 1:16. A children's layout awaits the first driving attempts of young truckers. Next door on the military layout, tanks are churning through the landscape. The wide performance range of model trucks and functional models can be seen in a spectacular show at the Roadworker Arena. On that note: Don't worry - be heavy!

Non-stop action and big players on land, on water and in the air

The worldwide largest model engineering event is packed with spectacular chal-lenges, innovations and premieres. At the German Open RC Car Masters 2017, re-mote controlled cars and bikes compete at up to 100 km/h for coveted titles in six classes. Hot dragsters, agile RC bikes and ultra large monster trucks (in miniature) compete in wild shows to win the favour of the audience. The Bajacowboyz will again be chasing around the courtyard on a wonderful dirt track with their off-road racers in scale 1:5. Last year the action-loaded FPV Drone Race was the latest highlight in Friedrichshafen and this crazy show is back again on Saturday and Sunday in Hall A6. In addition, the internationally renowned manufacturer Tomahawk Aviation, who is active in the field of high-quality jet modelling and model sports, is celebrating its premiere at Faszination Modellbau this year. So the audience can look forward to an-other big player of the model flying industry.

Inspiration through passion - Hands-on activities enhance the fascination

Promotion of the next generation within the modelling community is a central theme at Faszination Modellbau. Exhibitors, clubs and societies at the show put heart and soul into offering visitors numerous creative hands-on activities and do-it-yourself projects in which the various model-making sectors can be tried out and experienced first-hand.
