Nga mihi mahana ki a koutou
The school has recently joined KidsCan and this has had immediate benefits for our pupils. KidsCan will provide each pupil with a Warriors Raincoat. We are still waiting for the bigger sizes to arrive but the majority of the pupils have them. They are lined inside so will keep them warm and dry during the winter months.Black School Shoes complete with a couple of pairs of socks are also available and these will be given out this week. Nit Treatment will also be available but is currently out of stock. Our pupils are very fortunate. They have access to morning breakfast, fresh fruit, chilled milk, Duffy Books, Raincoats, Shoes, Toothbrushes and Toothpaste and the Say Ahh Programme. These things need to be respected, appreciated and not taken for granted by our pupils.Steve DriverPrincipal (Tumuaki)

TEACHER ONLY DAYA professional development (PD) opportunity has become available for the teaching staff. This PD is about Inclusive Education and includes topics such as: resources available to support inclusive practices, gathering and including student voice in our work, inclusive curriculum and classroom adaptions.
This will be valuable PD for all staff and for better outcomes for our pupils. A notice was sent home on Friday letting you know about this and we would appreciate these forms being returned to the School Office by this Thursday 6th August.

MatarikiWe have been learning about Matariki throughout the school. The Middle Class girls created this mural from the story “The Seven Stars of Matariki” by Toni Rolleston-Cummins. They projected the picture on to the wall and then each girl drew a part of the picture. Then they painted it. Looks great and is hanging in our library. The boys are working on there one now.
The Junior Room Tui and Pukeko writers are learning to find the main idea and write details. They looked at the story “Beans” by Patricia Grace and then wrote their own story using main idea and details to organise their ideas.
SheepWhen I was scootering home from school I smelled (smelt) sheep poo. I saw sheep poo on the road. It makes you laugh at the poo on the road. It smelt disgusting. Then I saw the sheep. They were cute. I can hear them saying “Baa, Baa, Baa” I think they smell bad.By Nadia De Thierry
The Dead CatWhen I was cycling home from school, I saw a dead cat. The dead cat was on its back like a pancake. It smelt gross. It had long fur. It was grey and black. I felt sad because it died.By Juliet Hokianga
