Playground Improvements: Mrs Weale and family would like to say a huge, Thornford School thank you to the many local businesses that kindly donated items to enhance our EYFS/KS1 playground area, including Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Waitrose, Mole Valley Farmers, Castle Gardens, B&Q, Homebase and Palmers Garden Centre. The children will continue to enjoy the planting/mud kitchen area and additional tools and equipment over the school year and beyond!

World Mental Health Awareness Day: Wednesday 10th October is Mental Health Awareness Day, so please send your child into school on Wednesday wearing something yellow and £1. This money will go to The Mental Health Foundation.

Healthy Lunchboxes: As we are a ‘Healthy Eating School’, this is a reminder to please give your child healthy food in their lunchboxes. Examples are: yogurts, sandwiches with savoury fillings, fruit and raw vegetables.

We would be very grateful if parents could check the finishing time of their child’s club. Teachers, Teaching Assistants and Governors give their time freely to run these clubs and would appreciate it if children were collected on time as they have other commitments afterwards. Many thanks for your cooperation with this.

Goodbye and Good Luck to Elaine John and Zoe Hallett

It was with great sadness that we said goodbye To Mrs. Hallett and Mrs. John, last week. Both have worked amazingly hard for the pupils, staff and parents at Thornford ; Zoe for 7 years and Elaine for 3 years. We will miss them terribly but wish them lots of luck in Yorkshire (Mrs. John) and at Kingsbury Episcopi Primary School (Mrs.Hallett). We had a lovely staff afternoon tea with them in the sunshine, on Thursday (see picture). We would like to extend a big Thornford welcome to Mrs Louise Heath, who will be taking on the full time role of Administration Officer. We are very much looking forward to working with her from 15th October.

As always, if you have any issue to discuss, please contact myself or my staff at the school.
