Homeworks are copied down each morning and ticked when they have been checked. This will list what homework is to be completed for the next day.

Spellings: Each day the spellings will consist of a number of rhyming words and one/two high frequency words. The number of rhyming words will vary depending on the sound for the week. These words are discussed during class time and strategies taught to help learn them. The rhyming words are focussed around the sound for that week whilst the high frequency words are learned using the Look, Say, Cover, Write and Check strategy.

Look --- Look at the word Say --- Say the word Cover --- Cover the word Write --- Write the word Check --- Check you have written the word correctly and try again.

The Spelling Homework book is to be used daily (Mon-Wed) to copy out each spelling in the spaces provided to aid the retention of them. They will be collected in every Thursday to be checked. Friday test books are sent home every Friday so parents can view their child’s progress and need be returned the following Monday.

Reading is logged each day in the Reading Record book. Parents need to sign in the space provided to show that reading has been reinforced at home.

Written homeworks are completed in the Numeracy/ Literacy homework books and need to be signed before return.
