Knowledge of ChristBy Cheryl Zoucha, Principal

Do you know what Pope John Paul II said he wanted for America's young people?  Knowledge of Christ!  And in particular, he wanted faithful Catholic schools and colleges.

During his first visit to the U.S., Pope John Paul II asked Catholic high school students, “Why does the Church devote so much of her energy to Catholic education?”  Then he said, "The answer can be summarized in one word, in one person:  Jesus Christ.  The Church wants to communicate Christ to you." Simple! It was that simplicity, that single-minded devotion to Christ that endeared us all to Pope John Paul II.

As we come closer to the end of another school year, I want to thank all of you for supporting the mission of our school and helping us bring Christ to our children.  This is our primary purpose and why our teachers, staff, and myself are dedicated to St. Bonaventure School.  In spite of trials and our imperfections, we know that by focusing on Christ and His teachings, we can find peace, happiness, and freedom.

This is our wish for all those who will be leaving us at the end of the school year.  Thank you to our 6th grade students for being a part of the journey with us, and we wish you all the best in the years ahead!

Thank YouThank you so much for supporting the

Book Fair this spring. It was fun to have the Book Fair at the same time as hosting the Pancake Man. The Book Fair was very successful and made $575 which means more new books for the library! Also, the Pancake Man earned $300 for the Home & School Association.

The Arby’s fundraiser night earned $190.88 for Home & School. We have one more restaurant fundraiser on May 4th at Jimmy John’s from 4 – 8:00 p.m. Thanks for all of your support of our Home & School Association.

Scrip

*The 2016/17 scrip fiscal year is underway. As you have hopefully heard there will be no scrip requirement next year. The scrip program is moving to a 50/50 Profit Sharing Plan. We want to focus more on the profits from buying scrip and we hope to increase the tuition reimbursement you will receive. After your family has made profits of over $100, you will keep 50% of the profits for tuition reimbursement. If you have any question about this new program, please call the school office. *Starting May 20th scrip will be available at the church rectory office. Their office hours are 8:30 – 12:00 and 1:00 – 4:30. *Please remember to purchase scrip for all your school uniforms needs. We carry Dennis Uniform in $20 cards, Old Navy in $25 cards and JC Penney in $25 or $100 cards. Old Navy gives 14% back so this is a great vendor to support.

Rotary Club Donates Books

All first grade students received the free book “Josh The Baby Otter” from the Noon Rotary Club. Chuck Gonka, Rotary club member, read the book to the class. Pictured here is Carolyn Ni receiving her book.

Enjoy your summer!

Thanks to your generous donations over 600 food items were donated to the Columbus Rescue Mission. The 6th Grade delivered the food and received a tour.
