• A little more than two months into his tenure as a member of the 49ers, Garçon dove right into community work in the Bay Area, participating in multiple events. In partnership with “Super Bas-kets of Hope,” Garçon, along with teammates QB Brian Hoyer and RB Carlos Hyde, distributed baskets and totes filled with toys, educational materials, games, craft items, music, stuffed animals, gift cards, and more to hospitalized children and their families at a local Bay Area Hospital. Parents were given a Basket of Hope, do-nated by Vera Bradley, filled with items to nourish them physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Garçon spent time with the children and their families while delivering the gift baskets in an effort to spread joy and inspiration during a difficult time.

• Along with several teammates, Garçon attended the eighth an-nual UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Prom in San Francisco. Said Garçon at the event, “It means a lot to us because we’re excited to meet the kids, who are 49ers fans. A lot of the young guys are tell-ing us that we see you on TV and tell us good luck this year.”

• Founded the Pierre Garçon Helping Hands Foundation in June of 2010, when Haiti was rocked by a devas-tating earthquake. The Foundation’s mission is to, “Bring enduring educa-tion, health and community programs to the people of Haiti and to provide long-term sustainable initiatives that will continue to positively influence the lives of Haitians.” In 2016, Garçon, as a part of his foundation, visited Haiti with former teammate Ricky Jean Francois to deliver medical supplies to help the recovery from Hurricane Matthew. The Pierre Garçon Helping Hands Foundation can be found at PierreGarcon15.com.

• One of Garçon’s major hobbies off the field is an indoor sport, bowling. You can typically find him lining up in a nearby bowling alley with his custom bowling balls. He even joined local Bay Area bowling leagues with fellow teammates RB Raheem Mostert and LB Dekoda Watson.

GOLDMINE (CONTINUED)• NFL players had the opportunity to participate in the NFL’s annual

My Cause, My Cleats campaign during a designated home game between Weeks 13-15. Garçon and his teammates represented their respective causes with custom-designed cleats in an effort to raise awareness and funding.

• Garçon and his teammates joined Levi’s in support of breast, colon and pediatric cancer warriors at the Crucial Catch Fashion Show presented by Dignity Health on October 2, 2018. 49ers players and cancer warriors took to the runway to show off their attire and share their stories of strength and courage with the audience.

• Garçon has taken an unusual path to reach his NFL dream. His family hails from Leogene, Haiti, a town near Port au Prince, and his parents emigrated to the United States before he was born. Garçon was born in Carmel, NY, and moved to Greenacres, FL, when he was young. He began his college career at Norwich Uni-versity in Northfield, VT before transferring to Mount Union Uni-versity, where he helped the Purple Raiders win two Division III National Championships. Garçon was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the 6th round (205th overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft.

• In April of 2016, Garçon donated $10,000 in scholarships to four graduating seniors from his alma mater, John I. Leonard High School, who were selected for demonstrating growth and im-provement both academically and socially.
