Dear Foundation Supporter,

The Florida Panthers Foundation has the power to give, and thus a responsibility to do whatever it takes to improve the lives of South Florida’s less fortunate. Acting on that mantra, with a focus on fighting pediatric cancer, the Foundation raised more than $350,000 and donated more than $100,000 in grants and $400,000 in kind to South Florida charities in 2011-12. Every member of our organization – including our executives, coaches, players and staff - committed to giving back over the last 12 months and they did not disappoint. Every single member of the Florida Panthers full-time staff donated at least 10 hours this year, while each member of the 15-person executive team sits on a local charitable board. In addition, the Foundation organized countless community events and three signature events – the Ford Face-Off Gala, IOA Ice & Dice Casino Night and Publix Golf Classic Presented by Ford – that combined raised nearly $200,000. The Florida Panthers Foundation is not just focused on donating funds and resources, we also formed strategic partnerships with organizations like Party City and Flashes of Hope, and continue to work with the Chris Evert Children’s Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, which was the beneficiary of a $400,000 Foundation grant in 2010. Lastly, for the efforts of our staff, our board, and everyone at the Florida Panthers organization, the Panthers Foundation was honored to be named 2012 Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation in Broward County during the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon. The honor has only served as a motivator for us as we continue our mission of fighting pediatric cancer, and helping those families that are affected by this horrible disease. Please take a few moments to review the following pages, and consider joining us in our fight.

Flashes of HopeThe Florida Panthers Foundation has recently partnered with Flashes of Hope as they opened their South Florida Chapter. Flashes of Hope will be able to photograph approximately 150 children being treated in Miami Children’s Hospital and Chris Evert Children’s Hospital.

Flashes of Hope is a non-profit organization that changes the way children with cancer and other life threatening illnesses see themselves through the gift of photography and raises money for pediatric cancer research. The portraits, taken by award-winning photographers, help children feel better about their changing appearance by celebrating it. For families of terminally ill children, it’s especially important to have a portrait that preserves forever the beauty, grace and dignity of their child.

Each child was also given the opportunity to try to score on the rookie goalie, Jacob Markstrom.

Youth from local Boys and Girls Clubs in Broward County were provided with lunch, a tour of the skating facility and Florida Panthers locker room, a skating session and special presentation from Congressman West.

Many of the youth participants had never seen an ice rink or been on ice skates and thoroughly enjoyed the new experience.

Healthy HabitsThroughout the Spring of 2012, the Florida Panthers presented their “Healthy Habits” Assembly show to elementary schools across the tri-county area (Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach). Presented by Publix, the show is a 40-minute assembly that educates students on the sport of hockey, the Florida Panthers, and the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle.

More than a dozen shows were performed for a total of over 4,000 students and teachers. The show included a surprise visit by team mascot Stanley C. Panther and each student in attendance went home with an official “Healthy Habits” school folder complete with fun facts about the sport of hockey and the Florida Panthers.
