It means we should be in God’s Word!
• Bible reading group: • dedicated to daily reading of God’s
Word. • dedicated to spending time with one
another contemplating God’s Word.
• The system: • It involves 10 lists: List 1: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John; List 2:
Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy; List 3: Romans, I&II Cor, Gal, Eph, Phil, Col, Hebrews; List 4: I & II Thess, I & II Tim, Titus, Philemon, James, I&II Peter, I,II&III John, Jude, Revelation; List 5: Job, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon; List 6: Psalms; List 7: Proverbs; List 8: Joshua, Judges, Ruth, I&II Samuel, I&II Kings, I&II Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther; List 9: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi List 10: Acts.
• The system: • Read one chapter from the first five lists the first day, and from
the last five the second day, then repeat. For example, you will begin by reading Matthew 1, Genesis 1, Romans 1, 1 Thessalonians 1, and Job 1. The second day will be Psalms 1, Proverbs 1, Joshua 1, Isaiah 1, and Acts 1. The third day you will read Matthew 2, Genesis 2, etc.The fourth day you will read Job 2, Psalm 2, etc. When you finish a list, you will repeat it. If you read five chapters daily, you will read Acts and Proverbs every two months. In reading five chapters a day with this system, you will complete the Bible in 238 days. Imagine the personal growth! !
• The system: • Also incorporated into this will be bi-weekly meetings to gather
into a member’s home to contemplate the reading that week. Kelley and I will be the first hosts on October 24 at 7 P.M. This will be an informal gathering––no meal. If you want to bring a drink or a snack, please feel free to do so. We will consider three ideas: 1) Something new I saw from the text. 2) My favorite part. 3) Application to my life. These meetings will serve to draw us closer to one another as together we contemplate the greatest book ever written.
• The system: • There is a sign up sheet on the board for those who are are
committed to this. The goal is 100% participation. When you finish the Bible, your name will be put into the bulletin, as I believe the commendation of those who complete it is important. The weekly Bible reading list will be distributed each week. You will be given bookmarks to help you track your reading. See the N.C.I.S. bulletin board by Mrs. Judy’s office to sign the list and get your bookmarks.
• LET’S TRANSFORM THIS CHURCH THROUGH A DAILY HONEST READING OF GOD’S WORD!!!
