WORK METHOD OF STATEMENT – BITUMINOUS WATERPROOFING FOR FLAT ROOF (TNB SUBSTATION)

PRODUCT : Nitoproof 1000

1.0 INTRODUCTION

This work method statement covers the applying bituminous waterproofing work for flat roof at TNB

Substation for Proposed Construction and Completion of Package 1 of The Muadzam Shah Cattle

Research and Innovation Centre, Pahang Darul Makmur.

This work method statement provides information concerning method of application to ensure

compliance with contract requirements and drawings besides to perform safe working environment and

compliance to the safety requirements.

2.0 SCOPE OF WORK

Nitoproof 1000 from FOSROC shall be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s current application

instructions. For more information of the product, kindly refer to Cut Sheet Submission reference no.

MSB/MCRIC/CS/0119. (Refer to Attachment 1)

4.0 WORK METHODOLOGY

The works shall be carried out by FOSROC waterproofing specialist and shall be carried out in

accordance with the manufacturer’s specification.

4.1 Surface Preparation

All surfaces to be waterproofed should be clean, sound and dry. The surface shall be clean of oil,

grease and all loosely adhering particles by using wire brushing. The surface shall ensure free of

surface water or bleeding.

4.2 Application of Nitoproof 1000

The drum contained with Nitoproof 1000 shall be stirred thoroughly. The surface shall be

applied with the full coat of Nitoproof 1000 by using brush, roller or spray equipment prior to

application of second coat at right angle to the first. However, the first coat shall be dried fully

before application of second coat.

4.3 Laying of Cement Render

Nitoproof 1000 should not be left exposed to UV light for more than 14 days. So that, laying of

cement render is a must with the thickness as per drawing / specification with the periods. At

the corner part, floor rendering must be fillet angle to prevent leakage.

5.0 SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL

5.1 Safety

1) All workers shall provide with PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and shall be worn

everytime they are enter the site. Safety Manager / Safety Supervisor shall ensure all the

workers wear all the safety equipments provided.

2) Impervious gloves and barrier cream should be used when handling these products.

3) Eye protection should be worn. If accidental eye contamination occurs, wash thoroughly

with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

4) If the product contacted with skin occurs, it must be removed before curing takes place.

Wash out with an industrial skin cleaner followed by plenty of soap and water.

5) Safety Manager / Safety Supervisor shall ensure that the activity shall be carried out in a

safe manner.

6) All workers shall be advised to report any accident or injury to supervisor and proper

treatment to be obtained.

7) The Safety Supervisor / Safety Manager shall ensure that the workers understand the safety

regulations and explain in detail in particular hazards, where the workers are working and

the precaution to be taken to ensure their safety.

5.2 Environmental

1) All workers shall educate on good environmental management practices and well disciplined

to environment.

2) The garbage bin shall be provided at the working area and Supervisor shall ensure its must

be collected regularly and disposed off at the approved dumpsite.

3) Safety Manager/Supervisor shall ensure that no open burning of construction or

domestic wastes is practiced.

4) All workers shall ensure that all tools and equipment machinery are in good condition to

avoid any oil leakage that could harm to environment.

5) Open burning of construction and domestic wastes on the site premises is strictly

prohibited

6) All tools and equipment shall be maintained in good working order and sited away

from sensitive properties.
