System Overview
The Anti-Heeling System is designed for the continuous compensation of the ship’s heel during all kinds of loading operations in port and during offshore operations. With over 20 years of experience, our systems have been installed on different types of container, heavy lift, offshore supply and construction vessels. Special heel control on sailing ships for wind load compensation on cruise course or ice heeling on ice breakers round up the wide range of Anti-Heeling System applications.
The heeling compensation of the system is achieved by pumping ballast water or other fl uids between the heeling tanks using reversible propeller pumps as well as applications with centrifugal pumps. Pneumatically controlled butterfl y valves are standard parts of the Anti-Heeling System. The state of the art PLC unit HOMIP with integrated 6” touch screen display offers user-friendly operation
via customised screen layouts. It is designed for automatic or manual heel control and can be connected to the ship management system via Ethernet or RS 485 interface.
Key Features
• Simple operation and clear visualisation• Pump dry-running protection• Heel compensation for operations at sea• Major components are in-house designed and engineered• Control and measuring devices are class type approved

Components
• Control panel and pump starter panel• Heeling pump with electric motor• Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) with fl ow controller (optional)• Control valves• Level switches for dry-running protection• Level sensors for tank content indication (optional)• Inclinometer for static heel measurement• Inertial measuring unit (HOSIM) for dynamic heel measurement (optional)
Reversible Anti-Heeling Pump – H250/H300/H400Hoppe’s axial reversible propeller pumps are especially designed for controlled bidirectional water shift. Sea water resistant bronze material ensures long time operation. Three different pump sizes are available for vertical or horizontal installation as well as ex-proof executions. Pump performance range can be set by gear and motor type.
Pneumatic Operated ValvesThe fl uid fl ow is controlled by remote operated butterfl y valves with Hoppe’s reliable and fast acting pneumatic actuator HOPAC. These actuators are especially designed for marine use with high-quality seawater resistant materials. Other actuators such as hydraulic or electro-hydraulic type are also available upon request.

Upgrade Options
Heavy Lift Load CompensationHoppe offers an advanced Anti-Heeling System with a special load moment control. The destabilizing moments of, for example, heavy crane operations are recorded and used to automatically determine the required stabilizing moments. Frequency controlled reversible pumps ensure immediate fl ow control reaction. In the case of offshore heel operation, Hoppe’s inertial measuring unit HOSIM is used to accurately determine the vessel’s motion and eliminate its effect so that the heel compensation can be executed correctly, even at sea.
Automatic Stability TestThe Anti-Heeling System is the base for Hoppe’s Stability Test System. In combination with Hoppe’s Tank Content and Draught Measuring Systems, an inclining test can be carried out to verify the actual stability, providing valuable safety and cargo optimizing information.
Ice-HeelingThe Anti-Heeling System can be used for ice heeling operations on ice breakers. It is used to heel the vessel regularly from port to starboard so that the vessel does not get stuck in ice. Such a system requires fast reaction times and large heel moments. For higher capacities Blower Anti-Heeling Systems are also available.
