Who made us? The Bible, God's Word, tells howthe human race began. Long ago, God made the very

first man and named him Adam. God made Adam outof the dust ofthe earth. When Godbreathed

life into Adam, he came alive. He foundhimself

in a beautifulgarden

called

Eden.

Before God made Adam, He made a beautiful worldfilled with wonderful things. Step by step God made

hilly places and prairie spaces, fragrant flowers andtall trees, brightly-feathered birds andbuzzingbees, wallowing whales and slippery snails.

In fact, God made everythingthere is

everything.

In the very beginning,

before God madeanything, there wasnothing except God.

No people or placesor things. Nothing.No light and no

darkness. No upand no down. No

yesterday and no

tomorrow. Therewas only God Whohad no beginning.Then God acted!

In the beginning,God created the

heavens and theearth.

And the earth waswithout form and void.

And darkness wason the face ofthe deep.

Then Godspoke.

"Lettherebe

light."

And there was light. God called the light Day andthe darkness He called Night.

And the evening andthe morning were the first day.

On the second day, God brought the waters of theoceans, seas and lakes into order under Heaven. On

the third day, God said, "Let the dry land appear."And it happened.

God also commanded the grass and flowers andshrubs andtrees to appear. And they

appeared. And the evening andthe morning were the

third day.

Then God made the sun, andthe moon, and so many stars

that nobody can count them.And the evening and themorning were the fourth day.

Sea creatures and fish andbirds were next on God's

list. On the fifthday Hemade big swordfish andtiny sardines, long-

legged ostriches andhappy little humming

birds. God made everykind of fish to fill earth'swaters and everykind of

bird to enjoy the land andsea and sky. Andtheevening and the morning

were the fifth day.

After that, God spoke again. He said, "Let theearth bring forth living creatures . . ." Every kind

of animal and insect and reptile came into being.There were earth-shaking elephants andbusybeavers. Mischievous monkeys and clumsycrocodiles. Wiggly worms and cheeky chipmunks.Gangly giraffes and purring pussy cats. Everykind of animal wasmade by God that day.

And the evening and the

morning were the sixth day.

God did somethingelse on the sixth day -something very special. Everything wasnow ready

for Man. There was food in the fields and animalsto

serve him. And God said,"Let Us makeman in Our

image. Let him be lordover everything on the

earth." SO GODCREATED

God spoke toAdam. "Eat

what you wishfrom thegarden. Butdo not eat fromthe tree of the

knowledge ofgood and evil.If you eat from

that tree youwill surely die."

And the LORDGod said, "It is not good that manshould be alone. Iwill make a helper for him." God

brought all the birds and beasts toAdam. Adam named them all. Hemust have been veryclever to do

so. But among all the birds andbeasts there was no suitable

partner

for Adam.

God brought Adaminto a deep, deep sleep.

Removing one of thesleeping man's ribs, God

formed Woman fromAdam's rib. The woman

God madewas exactly

right to be a partnerfor Adam.

God made everything in six days. ThenGod blessed the seventh day and made

ita day of rest. In the garden of Eden,Adam and Eve hiswife had perfecthappiness obeyingGod. God wastheir

LORD,

theirProviderand

their Friend.

This Bible story tells us about our wonderful God whomade us and who wants us to know Him.

God knows we have done bad things, which He calls sin.The punishment for sin is death, but God loves us so

much He sent HisSon, Jesus, to die on a Cross and be

punished for our sins. Then Jesus came back to life andwent home to Heaven! If you believe in Jesus and askHim to forgive your sins, He will do it! He will come and

live in you now,and you will live with Him forever.If you want to turn from your sins, say this to God:

Dear God, I believe that Jesus died forme and

now lives again. Please come into my life andforgive my sins, so that I can have new life now,and one day goto be with You forever. Help me

to live for You as Your child. Amen.
